This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 8th day of January, 1936, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [1010], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 12:30 to 12:35 Noon - Eastern Standard Time. …, Alabama. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes. Here we have an acute condition that has arisen. And, as we find, it will work hardships - with the distresses that have been indicated through the activities in the gall duct and the tendencies for the accumulations through the system.

2. We would use colonics first, with rather an alkalin solution - or a heaping tablespoonful of soda to the two gallons of water, with a level teaspoonful of salt, in tepid water. This will make for an alkalin reaction through the intestinal tract. THIS would be taken first, you see.

3. Then we would take ten grains of Aspirin with five grains of Asaphoetida - the properties that will make for an allaying of the temperatures that arise from the influence of too great an activity of the leucocytes splitting up, or the mucous membranes becoming irritated or inflamed by the cold or congestions.

4. These, as we find, taken once in the evening, again in the morning, should make for a relief.

5. Only citrus fruit juices as the diet for a day or two days.

6. And these should relieve the congestions.

7. Do that.

8. Ready for questions.

9. We are through for the present.

R1. 1/8/36 Son, Dr. [1940]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce,-

I am writing for my mother Mrs. [1010]. I am [1940], Dr. of Neuropathy, Osteopathy & Swedish Masseur. I do not hold an M.D. degree tho! I have been giving Mother the Treatments as per your suggestions. She does not seem to gain strength since contracting the “flu” about ten days ago. On account of her only having ONE kidney, there is not elimination enough thru that source. Also she gets badly constipated and has a continual bad pain in region between kidney and gall-bladder.

She is too weak right now to take High Enema, and too, the High enema causes a very painful constriction or knotting up of intestines near Caecum. I get it out by hand manipulation of that area.

About Wet Cell apparatus: The oak lids that cover the jars swell from moisture & burst the jars. Have broken two for us. I then put the Solution in a white porcelain jar, (ordinary slop-jar with sloping top sides) & have had no trouble since. Please advise H. H. Remedies when you forward enclosed payment to them. Also please ask them if they rec’d payment in Nov. which was sent them direct?

Is there any special Diet to give mother to help her gain strength?

R2. 1/18/36 Son, Dr. [1940]‘s letter to EC:

Mr. Edgar Cayce.

Dear friend,-

Your instructions for my mother, Mrs. [1010] were received and followed out and we got good results in checking the flu.

Now she is getting alright from the flu but that awful pain has come back in the region of the gall-bladder.

In connecting the negative plate of the wet-cell battery, should it always be placed over the umbilical or would it be good to place it over the gall-bladder more? A few minutes after placing the plates on her body there is a distinct movement of gas and intestinal juices.

Things seem to start rolling around inside of her. Would you advise starting the packs and everything all over again?

R3. 1/20/36 EC’s letter to Dr. [1940]:

Dear Dr. [1940]

We have just received yours of the 18th, and I’m so glad to know that your mother - Mrs. [1010] is feeling a great deal better from the effects of the flu.

In reference to using the Wet Cell Appliance, I’m sure it would be very well to place the larger plate at times over the lacteals and a portion of the gall duct area. In fact, you may at times get a better reaction from this area than by making the attachment always - solely - to the umbilicus center.

Yes, I would suggest that you use the Castor Oil Packs all over again. For with your treatments, these should set up eliminations so as to rid the body of many of these disturbing conditions.

I appreciate your letting me hear, and would like for you to write me again in a few days - to let me know how she has responded.

R4. 1/30/36 Mrs. [1010] requested 1112-3 for her husband, saying: “I am feeling very much better; I think the Wet Wet Cell is doing the work. Thank you for your kindness and interest shown.”

R5. 2/5/36 She submitted question for her husband’s reading, saying: “Mr. Cayce, what about Mr. [1112] and I going to Sarasota, Fla., for a week or so. Wish you would advise us to go, if it is the best for our health. Mr. [1112] has one continual cold after another and I am so awful weak, and can’t get out this weather. Have been in house since Oct. 2nd. My heart acts like seemingly running away. Hardly ever down to 98 - mostly 100, 104. Of course it is the poison from my gall-bladder, and that something in my right groin. It still seeps poison from vagina, and yesterday very painful but is because of constipation. Wish I could get rid of that. The pain in gall bladder is most gone. I think in a few more months I will be O.K. again. We have had 8 in. of snow on ground for a week. Never saw such weather since been in South. Hope you can read this; my hand is still shaky.” Much love, [1010]

R6. 2/11/36 She wired for Physical Reading for Mrs. [1117].

R7. 3/2/36 “Must I continue the electrical tr. until distress in side and gall bladder is cured? Am taking them at bedtime. Still have pain in my right groin and pain extends clear down in my leg to toes. I will feel so bad for a couple of days, then pain will be worse in groin. Then discharge, will follow for a few days. Then will feel some better for a while. Mr. Cayce, have I got CANCER? It really has seemed that way. But two M.D.’s say NOT. And you didn’t say I have. But I really have the SYMPTOMS. Still I do not or will not believe I have CANCER. I am able to work some, (give treatments). If I only knew what to do for constipation (psylium seed does no good) I believe I would soon get well.

Have had a lot of trouble with my heart. I do not think it ever does below 88. But stays at 94 most of the time. I do not let it worry me, when the poison is eliminated it will get O.K., so you say. Mr. […] will write you in a mo. from beginning of treatment.”

R9. 3/24/36 Son [1940]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce,

I am writing you because I am worried about Mother [1010]‘s condition. Her heart beat has never got below 88. Most of time nearer 100. Her gall-bladder condition is fine, but that sore place in her side causes acute pain & distress. I want to know if she has a small cancer there. Some days she has quite a lot of strength & others no strength. Sometime when you are feeling strong and have the time, please check up on her & write direct to me. She will be home most all the time.

Note that I have P.O. Box 384 for receiving mail as delivery times do not coincide with train times here. Mother is sending another payment on Wet Cell Battery. Will you please forward it?
