This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 6th day of November, 1935, in accordance with request made by self - Miss [1048], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. [1048] and L. B. Cayce.]
Time of Reading 11:15 to 11:25 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, D.C. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1048]; this we have had before.
-
Many changes, as we find, are evidenced in the general physical forces of the body.
-
Some tendencies still exist that were indicated formerly, in the manner in which the activities of the circulation prevent a full or complete balance in the numbers of the red and white blood influences in the system; to a lesser degree, however, than has been indicated heretofore.
-
The general influence may be stimulated considerably, as we find, by the applications which will make for a relaxing of portions of the body, through those centers where the activities of the organs as related to assimilation and the general rebuilding through the activities of the glands in the system may be brought to a much nearer normal balance. Thus better activities may be made throughout the system.
-
So, we would add - not for long periods but for periods of two or three days at the time - the LIGHT diathermy (in the present). Take these treatments two or three days, then rest from same two or three days or a week, and then take them for two or three days more. Then have a rest period, and then take them again. Not the heavy but the LIGHT vibration; not too great an amount of current or quantity used, but the light.
-
After the third two to three day period of treatments, we would then begin with the GENERAL massage over the system; preferably of the neuropathic nature rather than chiropractic or osteopathic. Give these for periods of two to three weeks. Begin in the central portions of the body along the cerebrospinal system, and follow out the nerve plexus of the 9th dorsal to the lower extremities, also to the upper extremities. These would work either way from the central or middle portion. The reactions of these for the body will be to make for the less tendency for acidity in the system, that becomes a hindrance to the body in the proper assimilations; making for better eliminations through the alimentary canal, through the activities of the hepatic circulation, through the general respiratory system and the activities of the digestive forces themselves. So these we would keep for periods of two to three weeks, then have a rest period from same for a period and then begin again.
-
Be mindful of the diet during the whole time, and we should bring to the body near normal conditions.
-
There is much improvement, as indicated; yet there have been periods when the body has reverted to a great deal of the old conditions.
-
But follow these lines as indicated. The activities of these are as follows:
-
First, the electrical forces are of such a nature that their activity through the system makes for a stimulation to the ganglia and the centers of the deeper circulation. This treatment if given too heavy tends to make for greater separations, and would make for weaknesses. So give same in moderation, so that the body reacts each time sufficient to create a greater and greater normalcy in the coordinating influences of the whole body; and it will be for beneficial effects.
-
The activities of the neuropathic massage would make for better and greater coordinating influences in the nerve centers, or the ganglia about the cerebrospinal system where there are the associations between the activities of the vegetative nerve forces and the deeper nerve body itself.
-
Do that.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Where should the diathermy be applied? (A) To those centers that will make for increasing the circulation; or the 3rd and 4th dorsal center and the lacteal duct - or the umbilicus center.
-
(Q) Please outline the diet, or should it be as given in previous reading? (A) As indicated, tend to those foods that are ALKALIN-PRODUCING. Not to make for an excess. For while there is the tendency of the acidity, there have been those activities that would tend to make for a lessening of calcium content - as indicated by those feelings at times in joints and in the activities of the hands, arms and limbs, when overexercised - or periods when the atmospheric pressure becomes lower than nominal.
The foods, then, should be those such as citrus fruits, vegetables and nuts; these should be a greater portion of the diet. One meal each day, as much as possible, should consist only of raw vegetables or fruits - ONE MEAL, see? The vitamins necessary in the system, and especially Vitamin E - whose activity in the system is for reproduction of the activity through every GLAND of the body itself, or those forces that are from silicon, iron, gold, or the activities from phosphorous - as of shell fish. Especially clams, oysters, more than any of the others - unless it is lobster. These are well to be taken two to three times each week; but these should be boiled. These will make for those conditions that would be better. Beware of raw apples, unless taken ONLY as a diet for cleansing the system. Baked or cooked apples may be taken. Beware of fried foods. Beware of too great a quantity of white bread, or the greater part of the pulp of potatoes - though the skins of same, boiled or roasted, are well.
-
(Q) Any specific information regarding the pelvic organs? (A) As we will find, the deep therapy of the diathermy - by changing the vibrations first - will make for electrical vibrations through same. Then the massage will make for greater corrections in all functionings.
-
(Q) Would the same one give the diathermy treatments and the manipulation? (A) If the one that gives the diathermy treatment is a neuropath! but if he is not a neuropath, he won’t give neuropathic treatments!
-
(Q) Any other advice at this time? (A) Do these things, as we find, and we will make for the better and nearer normal conditions for this body.
-
We are through with this reading.

INDIVIDUAL CASE REPORT
Date of Readings: July 25, 1931, Feb. 1, 1932, & Nov. 6, 1935
Case No. [1048]
(PLEASE ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS CAREFULLY)
(1) In your opinion did this analysis of the Readings cover the conditions? So far as I am able to determine, they did.
(2) Give symptoms of condition described, correctly? Yes, though in certain instances I was unable to understand certain references apparently to symptoms, as on page 3 of the reading on July 25, 1931, last line of first paragraph: “as seen in the soft tissue of the head and neck, and in nasal passages.” [1048-2, Par. 6]
(3) What was the physician’s analysis of this condition? I was never able to get a straightforward analysis from my physician, in connection with the readings, though an osteopath in Norfolk (name?) presumably cooperated with the suggestions in the first reading, and Dr. Bolkhardt in Washington with those in the third. Of course, with reference to the skin condition mentioned in the first reading, I was examined by the specialist in this field at Johns Hopkins and was told at that time - 1931, I believe, that there was no known cause for such conditions [psoriasis, 1048-2], though scientists at that institution had been working on the problem for two years (they agreed, however, that it was in no way contagious or transmittable to possible offspring - proving that it arose from conditions from WITHIN as the reading indicated.) During the fall of 1932, as near as I can remember, I had a severe recurrence of the skin difficulty, and took a series of inoculations from serum made from the tissues themselves, at the suggestion of my physician in Washington. Since that time, I have had no recurrence of the trouble worth recording, though it is not apparently entirely gone from my system.
(4) Have the suggestions given in the Reading been followed exactly as outlined? First Reading - osteopathic treatments followed by Norfolk physician, I believe for the time suggested. Medicine taken for a few weeks or a month, perhaps. Abdominal support never worn. As far as I can recall, the diet was not followed very carefully, though I am not sure. Third Reading - the treatments and diet were followed carefully for the suggested period of time - several months, as I recall.
(5) For how long? [crossed out by [1048]]
(6) Describe the extent to which improvements have resulted? I cannot be very specific as to improvements with reference to the first two reading, though I may say that after the treatments to my tonsils by the Norfolk osteopath, I have never had tonsillitis attacks with sufficient frequency to warrant having them removed or treated again. Whereas prior to that time I suffered such attacks frequently. With regard, however, to the last reading, the treatments indicated and the diet left me in excellent health. And ever since, when I seem to become unduly tired or run-down, if I return to a modified form of the diet I find it beneficial. I have found all the readings helpful, in one way or another, and if I were in a position to do so would have physical check readings at regular intervals.

R4. 3/11/76 Mrs. [1048]‘s niece […] reported: “My aunt [1048] has a brain tumor which is inoperable.”
R5. 4/28/76 Mrs. [1048] wrote HLC: “It was certainly kind of you to take time from your busy schedule to write me a personal letter. I don’t know how interested you are in hearing of my ‘case’. But I will give you a bit of background: Three years ago at Christmas time I had an operation for a self-discovered breast cancer (left). I have been checked regularly, returning to my school teaching, and have led a normal life since. One year later, a lump was removed from the chest for the same cause. All was well after that until last Oct., when the surgeons suspected a brain tumor. This was treated by x-ray, which I assume to have been successful (some twenty-odd treatments, daily). I have been at home on sick leave from school ever since, with several hospitalizations. I am much better, but the doctor won’t let me drive or teach. I hope to return to school next month, and had planned to teach one more year (making twenty), but don’t know. We have a very positive attitude, and I plan to be myself again (any minute - an advantage, I hope).
“My husband’s church congregation at […] had prayers for me each day and week up until the present, and of course I have been most grateful. I shall be grateful for those of your prayer group, of course…” Love, [1048]
R6. 8/16/76 Mrs. [1048]‘s husband’s letter to HLC: “Thank you in behalf of [1048] for your nice letter of May 27th to her.
“At the time of your writing she was dying of cancer and passed away on June 8th in the […] Hospital.
“She often spoke of the early connections of you and your family and of your good works.
“Thank you for your prayers for her. She had the greatest spirit right up to the end and if she knew she was going to die, she never let on to anybody.
“Her last thoughts, of course, were for me to be sure to take care of ‘my boy’.
“Please excuse this belated answer as I’m still trying to catch up on my correspondence.”
