This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 31st day of December, 1935, in accordance with request made by the son - Mr. […], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 11:45 to 12:00 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Michigan. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here.
-
As we find, there are improvements in the general physical forces of the body, [1069].
-
While there is a great deal to be desired in improvements, these in the main are showing corrective measures which - if there is the ability to continue to release the pressures throughout the system - should soon make for more and more constructive forces, enabling a greater activity and increasing the life-flow through the body - unless there are other disturbances arising that are not indicated in the immediate future.
-
As to those conditions where the pressures are indicated that make for the extreme hardness of breathing, or - as it were - a closing up of the lower portions of the lungs, or such a slowing of the circulatory forces from the lower portion of the body as to produce an unruly or an abnormal activity of the heart itself, we find:
-
These are conditions that may be and are to be expected at times. But we would have the gradual, gentle movement over the joints, by the use of the oils as indicated; over the lower limbs, extending the pressures even - now - from ABOVE the 9th dorsal; that is, from the lower portion of the secondary cardiac to at least the 4th and 5th dorsal. And we will find that these will gradually relieve the pressures.
-
Movements in the joints, of course, will become at times more and more painful; but the gentle MOVEMENT of same, with the manipulative forces and the oils applied, should bring constructive forces, allowing the circulation to become nearer and nearer normal.
-
There may be experienced days and periods when there may be anxious times, or apparently periods of greater distress.
But if the cares and attentions are given, these should be overcome; and greater and greater activity may be experienced by the mental and physical forces of the body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Please give advice to Dr. Layng on the adjustments of the joints, which she says are locked. (A) As indicated, the movements should be GRADUALLY - VERY, VERY gradually made by the use of the oils or massages over these. Extend, as indicated, the downward movements from the higher up dorsal areas.
Movements in the feet and limbs, of course, coordinating with the rest, will increase the circulation and alleviate the pressures in the lung and heart area.
-
(Q) Can she be massaged from the 7th dorsal down? (A) As just given, even from the 4th and 5th dorsal down!
-
(Q) Would massage over entire body be recommended at this time? (A) Over entire body is always helpful. For that which tends to make for a movement in the superficial circulation, as well as the general movements that increase the deeper circulation, is beneficial. Not too fast, but once in a while - once or twice a week, give a deep manipulation.
-
(Q) Any immediate relief for the smothering? (A) As indicated, extend the manipulation higher - or begin higher. Of course, the use of those properties that have been indicated would be relief for these pressures. A great deal of the smothery feeling, of course, is produced by SOME of those properties that have been discontinued. And the lack of their effect in the system is being felt. As we find, if they are given in a different form, their reaction may be expected to be entirely different; that is, calcium WITH the iodine, known as Calcidin, will be absorbed differently. This given occasionally - one grain tablet, no more - would be helpful.
For this body, we find that it would be PREFERABLE to take the Calcidin in this way and manner: Dissolve two or three grains of Calcidin in warm water (distilled water is preferable) - one ounce of water - and give a small sip of same occasionally; for the iodine reaction would be the more efficient, as will the less amount of the calcium - but calcium in a different form, more easily assimilated for beneficial effects.
-
(Q) Please advise as to enemas or colonics. Should they be continued? If so, how often? (A) They should be continued when these are necessary. For there is little of the bowel or peristaltic movement, and the poisons and accumulations from gases that accumulate in the bowel make for pressures on portions of the body so as to be a contributory cause to the smothering spells. Hence these should be given, of course, IN ORDER - but so that the poisons may be eliminated and pressures removed.
-
(Q) Are these being given correctly? (A) These are very good, as we find. We would follow the technician, as has been suggested.
-
(Q) Why does the abdomen fill with gas shortly after colonic irrigation, and how can same be corrected? (A) As we find, the use of Glyco-Thymoline in the last portion of the waters used would be beneficial in this direction. This is rather the refuse, or the pressures from non-activity of the upper portion of the bowels giving expression to their ACTIVITY. And even though it is only to remove gas that may form, it is well to remove same in that manner; not just colonic irrigations, but the gases themselves may be taken without great quantities of water used.
-
(Q) Should anything be given to help bowels, on days there is no movement? (A) Be more careful with the foods; that these may tend to MAKE for greater or an increased activity in bowel movement, without being of the nature as to produce the spasmodic reaction of the lymph circulation. Or, those foods that are laxative in their reaction.
-
(Q) May the body have stewed dried fruits, such as prunes, figs, apricots or dates? (A) These are very good; all of these, and of that very nature as just indicated.
-
(Q) May these be stewed together? (A) They are put together in the system!
-
(Q) Have the necessary responses been made to enable the body to resume its normal activities in the near future? (A) Not entirely as yet; for there are periods and periods to be experienced. But be patient, be persistent.
And trust in those divine influences and forces that may make the body not only as good, but good FOR something.

Mr. Edgar Cayce, Association for Research & Enlightenment, Virginia Beach, Va.
My dear Mr. Cayce:-
I am herewith enclosing check amounting to Ten Dollars. I feel very humble in sending you an amount so meager in trying to reciprocate for you wonderful advice and information. I hope some day to be in position to help further your find and noble work. I do not mean in a sense of singing your praises or cheering your results.
If you have a moment’s time to review the second reading, that is the last received, with reference to the tablets you suggest being dissolved and sipped, etc. could you specifically mention how often it should be taken under the circumstances. If you will address it to … Ave. I will greatly appreciate it.
My mother at present is feeling a little more comfortable, although that pressure which interferes with her breathing is the one thing that depresses her so much, however, we are very, very hopeful and very grateful.
I hope you and your family are very happy and enjoying good health.
My Mother and family, as well as myself, join in wishing you and yours the best for the New Year.
Sincerely, […]
R2. 1/8/36 EC’s ltr. to Mr. […]:
Thank you very much for yours of the 4th, and also I want to acknowledge the contribution to the Association.
In reference to the Calcidin solution, I should think the sips of same would be taken about three or four times a day, dependent upon just how much the heavy breathing is affecting her. Of course, the more often it is given the more readily the body responds to the iodine effect; though you would not want this to become too active unless there is the corresponding reaction from the manipulations and from the relief of the pressure of gas that has evidently been forming. This solution is more for the relaxing of the respiratory system than for the digestive system. I’m sure, though, that the Doctor will be able to make the adjustments in such a way as to gradually bring more and more relief.
We are so glad to know that you Mother is feeling some better, and I do hope that the suggestions given will prove most valuable and helpful to her at this time.
I want to assure you of our appreciation of your interest and your good wishes.
Hoping and trusting for the very best, for you and yours during this New Year, I am
Sincerely,

R3. 1/11/36 Mrs. [1069]‘s son referred Mr. [1109] for Physical Rdg.
R4. 1/13/36 Mrs. [601]‘s letter:
I visited with Mrs. [1069] Saturday afternoon, while there is a feeling that she is being aided, she has been suffering intense pain throughout her body. Her physician seems to be well pleased with this condition, for every time he visited her he would always ask her regarding having sensations or pains in the back of her neck or head. The Calcidin has relieved the smothery feeling and the Daughter has noticed that Mrs. [1069]‘s hands have begun perspiring which she hasn’t experienced in years. Dr. Layng feels that the pain at this time is an indication of better circulation, but I believe it best to advise you about this condition and if you think it advisable to have a check regarding the suffering she is going thru especially at night, please give it, as I know that […] and his Brother will appreciate it, for they do not understand the importance of changes going on all times and keeping you informed, especially her condition having been so wrongly diagnosed and treated during the previous years.
R5. 1/22/36 See 1069-4 which was requested by son’s wire regarding relief for terrible constipation for days. Son also wrote a letter submitting a long list of questions but it did not arrive until after 1069-4 was given.
