This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 23rd day of December, 1935, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [1086], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. [619] and Mrs. [601].
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 3:15 to 3:35 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Michigan. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1086].
-
As we find, disturbing conditions in the physical forces of the body have to do with the eliminations - and the effect this has had upon the general system. And then the applications that have been made have produced other disturbing conditions for the body.
-
These, then, are the conditions as we find them with this body, [1086].
-
THE BLOOD SUPPLIES, these indicate the manners or the causes of the first disturbances which arose.
-
Owing to the high pressure as indicated, the toxic forces are carried in the blood. And there are the tendencies towards a deeper circulation than for the general or normal superficial circulation. And the tendencies for weakness by overexertion or by normal exertion, and tendencies for the lower limbs or extremities to have that inclination for numbness or lack of circulation, or become as tingling sensations when the body sits or rests a long period, or at times some particular position apparently will cause the same; making for a tendency for lethargy throughout the system.
-
IN THE NERVE FORCES, as has been indicated by the very nature of the disturbance in the circulation, this becomes rather benumbed at times, and at others it becomes very much alive to those conditions about the body - or extremes in the nerve reaction. Excitements will at times cause an increased circulation. And this becomes hard, to be sure, upon those conditions in the heart’s activity.
-
IN THE ORGANS THEMSELVES OF THE BODY, in the sensory forces, the natural pressure causes a disturbance in the organs of the sympathetics or of the sensory system through the sympathetics; as the roaring in the head and ears, at times the burning in the eyes after the body has felt the inclination to rest. And the bad tastes in the mouth at times. These are the effects of these disturbances to the sensory forces, or the organs of same.
-
Throat, bronchi, lungs, larynx, at the present show some irritation. But if there is kept a more alkaline condition in the system this should pass away.
-
Heart’s activity, owing to those administrations that have made for the tendency to keep down the pressure, has engorged the organ itself. And unless altered or changed, this may eventually produce a disturbance that may be hard to deal with; or a disturbance of the circulation between the liver, the heart, the lungs. For this engorgement produces this slowing of the circulation to the superficial. And while relieving pressures at times, it will naturally be a disturbing factor.
-
Digestive forces are rather irregular. These at times, while the body may have a good appetite - at others the fullness that occurs causes a depression and a hard condition upon the organs of assimilation.
-
In the colon area do we find the first causes, or those inclinations and those conditions existent where there is an engorgement of the colon itself. And the fecal forces that have been as accumulations are the cause of the toxic forces as indicated in the circulation. And also the tendency for an increasing of the circulations for the prevention of too great a pressure in the blood supply. But these may be relieved, as we find, so as to reduce the blood pressure; not too quickly, but gradually cleansing of the colon in such measures that there may be the ability of the system to assimilate properly.
-
And by the manipulative forces as to regulate the coordination of the activities of the cardiac plexus with the secondary cardiac plexus and the liver and the eliminations.
-
These would gradually bring about a much nearer normal condition, and making for the less distress being gradually builded in the system.
-
Necessary, to be sure, in the beginnings, that there be those properties taken - as there have been - for the activity of the circulatory system. But if the colonics are taken regularly, these properties may gradually be eliminated. Do not make for too great a colon evacuation at once, but gradually decrease that tendency for a prolapsus in the lower portion of the colon area itself.
-
With the equalizing of the pressures from the cerebrospinal system centers to the organs as indicated as disturbed, these would bring a much better condition.
-
Do not engage in too violent exercise. Take conditions, surroundings, rather slow, easy, until this pressure has been reduced - until the circulatory forces are nearer normal.
-
Also we would add every day or two the Radio-Active Appliance for equalizing the superficial circulation. The attachments, of course, would be to the opposite extremities - as the body rests.
-
These would bring, as we would give, better conditions for this body, [1086].
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) How often should the colonics be given? (A) In the first month about three. Then the next about two or three, and then gradually decrease - unless there is the tendency for the accumulations to produce a higher blood pressure.
-
(Q) Any special solution preferable for the colonics? (A) A salt and soda solution is preferable, but be sure there is an alkaline antiseptic used after each colonic.
-
(Q) What should I do for relief of pains in the shoulders? (A) As we find, if the sources of these toxic forces are relieved, then the adjustments or equalization made, these will disappear.
When these are acute, the use of an eliminant - and hot Epsom Salts Packs - will relieve same.
Manipulations or adjustments should be rather in periods; three week periods, two, three times a week. Then a rest period of two to three weeks, and then again.
Do these.
-
(Q) Please outline specific diet, if necessary. (A) Keep away, of course, from those things of too great a quantity of starches. Keep rather those that are of the leafy vegetable nature, than the dried. Any of those conditions that tend to make for constipation are hard upon the system. This is a general rather than a specific outline, for these have been indicated for the body.
-
(Q) Is the dizziness and shortness of breath and exhausted feeling after walking, from the high blood pressure? (A) From that as has been indicated; the high blood pressure.
Do as we have indicated.
- We are through for the present.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. GD’s note: See 1800-24 Reports explaining theory of the Radio-Active Appliance.
R2. 12/30/35 [1086]‘s letter to EC:
”…I am in receipt of your report covering a Reading on myself, and I am very sorry to advise that the conditions stated therein do not seem to apply on the symptoms as experienced by me.
“For example, in the sensory forces there is no roaring in the head and ears; nor burning in the eyes; nor the bad tastes in the mouth. Further, the throat and lungs only appear to be irritated at times, and only through excessive smoking.
“From past experiences, it is true that the blood pressure at times is high, but by short rest periods and careful dieting, this apparently is quickly reduced.
“I might also say that I do not experience any tingling sensations when resting or sitting for long periods, but I do notice that short rest periods assist very materially in the recovery from that tired feeling.
“It was hoped by me that your Reading would disclose the strain and difficulty experienced after only short walks, not only to the limbs, but the slightest exertion, under normal conditions, create a tiring effect upon the entire body.
“I thought that you should know these facts and if it can possibly be remedied, I should very much like to have your suggestions in the matter…”
R3. 12/31/35 Mrs. [601]‘s letter to EC:
”…We have received Mr. [1086]‘s Reading and while [619] and I feel that the Reading indicates the source of his original trouble, he does not agree with some of the symptoms and descriptions of his feelings.
“He does not have any tingling sensations when sitting for any length of time at all. His greatest trouble seems to be when he begins walking; then he feels a tightening of the muscles, as it were, and he cannot move until there is a certain amount of loosening. He also has difficulty in catching his breath after any kind of exertion. It would be advisable that you write to him and perhaps request him to suggest several questions to help him to understand his Reading more thoroughly. When [619] and I tried to analyze the Reading with him, he insisted that the thing he has been suffering from these past fifteen years was not stressed in the Reading - which is dizziness. This condition was never diagnosed correctly, (by doctors) for he has had his appendix removed, tonsils out, teeth extracted, and still suffers from the same condition. We suggested that he give the information a chance and carry out the suggested treatments as outlined for a period of time and then watch the results. We cannot understand what he expected, for we have always felt that his condition was due more to a toxic condition than an actual heart condition, which the doctors have been stressing as the cause of his dizziness and pains across his chest and shoulders and arms.
“It is rather difficult to convey to someone else when they do not have an innate sense of understanding what it is that is being given. It evidently comes back to your own philosophy that as ye seek so shall ye receive. More and more am I learning how important it is for anyone seeking this sort of information to really want it wholeheartedly. There was no coercion on our part about having Mr. [1086] ask for a Reading. It was his own request which we helped him to obtain…”
R4. 1/6/36 EC’s letter to [1086]:
”…I have yours of the 30th, and want to thank you very much for the report. We are just as interested to know when the information does not conform to the ideas of the individual as we are to know when they do.
“There is no suggestion I have to make other than this: As I say to everyone, unless there is something in the information that responds to something within yourself, don’t have anything to do with it. But if there is anything that responds, then it is at least worth giving a trial. For, evidently, the suggestions made for you in the Reading won’t be of harm.
“Often we have had experiences where the symptoms mentioned in the Reading didn’t show up until several days after the Reading was received. Evidently the condition is described from the inside out, rather than from the outside in - and only the symptoms are described which the inner condition WOULD produce, or HAS produced. Of course, this may be termed by many (the arising of the symptom after the Reading describes it) as purely a mental reaction. But when actual physical conditions appear, I doubt if they could be called that.
“Anyway, as I said, I do hope to be of a service. We will be very glad to hear from you and to know your decision in the matter. And if you feel that we can possibly be of a help, please know that is our whole purpose. For we have nothing to sell, neither have we any axe to grind.
“Hoping that you get the very best results possible (whether you follow the suggestions outlined in the Reading or some other), I am sincerely… P.S. We would be interested to know if any of the described symptoms have since appeared, or if they do appear at any time later…”
R5. 1/13/36 Mrs. [601]‘s letter to EC:
”…From the little experience I have had with those desiring help through ‘the information’, in some way or other sincerity and true desire is more evident to the ‘source of information’ than even to those seeking the help they do not understand; therefore whatever comes through is vague and difficult to apply to themselves, as in Mr. [1086]‘s case. He will probably wait until you come here to go into detail about his Reading…”
R6. 9/10/36 Mrs. [601]‘s letter:
”…Mr. [1086] passed on this morning after being down with several heart attacks. He was ill about two weeks…”
