This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 15th day of December, 1936, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. […], through Associate Member of her sister, Mrs. [1073], in the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment.

1. EC: Yes, we have those impressions and those activities; for the body is only on the way.

2. These we have had before.

3. As we find, there are tendencies and inclinations that show for some improvements. While a great deal is to be desired, the ability for the quietness is indicated.

4. And there should be kept, as we find, the Appliance, consistently. Keep the anodes clear and clean, by polishing them each time before they are attached to the body. There has been the inclination to neglect these, more than they should be. For the vibrations are from the body and there tends to be the inclination for the cuticle of the skin, or the epidermis of the skin, to adhere.

5. We would find, too, now, that there should be some oil rubs. Combine equal portions of Olive Oil, Tincture of Myrrh and Sweet Oil (or Camphorated Oil). Heat the Olive Oil to add the Myrrh, then when cool shake together the Camphorated Oil with same. Use this each evening, not too much of it - shake together - but especially over the lumbar and sacral area and about the shoulders and the neck, just what the body absorbs. This is given when the body is ready for bed.

6. Then as the body goes to sleep, sit by same, make those positive suggestions in this form - this as a suggestion, though it may be altered at times to add that which is the heart-felt wish of the mother:

7. MAY THERE BE CREATED THROUGH THE DIVINE FORCES IN THIS BODY THAT WHICH WILL MAKE FOR THE NEARER AND NEARER NORMAL REACTION: THAT THERE MAY BE THOSE PROPER REACTIONS FOR THE SYSTEM, THAT IT MAY BE A USEFUL, SELF-SUSTAINING ENTITY.

8. IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER THIS IS SOUGHT, THROUGH THE PROMISES GIVEN TO HIS PEOPLE.

9. This will aid also in relieving those tendencies, those cares, those inclinations for the body’s activities through its sleep.

10. Ready for questions.

11. (Q) Will this assist to cure the bed-wetting? (A) Only by those suggestions in the present, for the body is unconscious of its activity. Scolding will only make it worse, but the suggestions will help.

Do these consistently for a period of ninety to a hundred and twenty days, and we will give further instructions.

R1. 2/23/37 Aunt [1073]‘s letter: “Heard from my sister saying the doctor who had taken care of [1104] since infancy would like to give her thyroid, so she may lose some weight. The child is quite stocky and it worries them. Treatments do not seem to keep her weight down. Have asked her to write you, as I know you do not favor thyroid, but am afraid she won’t do it, as she is always afraid of involving herself.”

R2. 5/29/37 Mother’s letter: “I certainly have been trying to follow all your suggestions. As far as changes in [1104] are concerned, it is hard to say, except that she has been learning in school. She is in a special class and has learned to read and write. She still wets at night and naturally wakes and calls me. This is what worries me so much and I wonder if there will ever be an end to it.”
