Time of Reading 3:55 to 4:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1109].
-
As we find, there may be said to be a complication of disturbances preventing a normal reaction in the physical forces of the body.
-
While some portions of same respond very good at times, others - through hindrances and pressures that exist where cellular forces have become involved in ganglia - make for a deadening, or the inability of a normal reaction.
-
To give those things that have been the causes, as we find:
-
There existed in times back an activity, a stress or strain upon the body physically and mentally, that brought about an abnormal pulsation.
-
Through same there was a thinning of the walls of the circulatory system.
-
Thus there were produced the separations in the walls, as it were; and the inability of the forces to produce proper coagulation brought about the present distresses.
-
Naturally, from these conditions - and as these conditions developed - there arose the inactivity in organs of the circulation; affecting the respiratory system, the liver and the hepatic circulation, the heart’s activity, and the digestive or assimilating forces of the body.
-
Through those applications that have been administered, much of this has been relieved in part. Yet, as we find, there may be brought about much nearer, much better normal conditions for the body. For we would use those properly balanced elements to create the regular or coordinating influences between the assimilating forces. And we would remove the pressures in the cerebrospinal system, especially along the distressed area, through coordinating the upper dorsals with the lumbar and the axis of same. We would add within the system those influences that will work upon the digestive forces and the assimilating. Also we would add those vibrations to keep an equilibrium between the superficial and the deeper circulation.
-
THE BLOOD SUPPLY, besides being under stress and strain, this shows also other disturbing factors; though it is better in some respects than it has been in other times - or previously - when the greater distress arose.
-
There is, as we find, a lesion - then - in the 4th dorsal - BETWEEN the 4th and the 5th dorsal ganglia. This causes the distressed areas; not only as to the impulses to the functioning of the organs as indicated, but as to those impairments to the circulation, also the pressures as produced in the locomotory forces and the stresses that leave sediments in the system that make for contractions at times in the tendon and muscular forces of the extremities.
-
So, in the present, we would begin with these:
-
First, we would have a compound prepared to be taken internally, in this way and manner:
-
To a gallon and a half (1 1/2) of Distilled Water, add - in the order named, and in these proportions:
Wild Cherry Bark…2 ounces, Sarsaparilla Root…1 ounce, Golden Seal…1 ounce, Snake Root…1/4 ounce, Yellow Dock Root…1/2 ounce, Cinchona Bark…1/2 ounce.
Reduce by slow simmering until the quantity when strained off is 1 quart. Then, while warm, add 1 1/2 ounces of Pure Grain Alcohol with 2 drams of Balsam of Tolu cut in same.
-
This would be as a tonic, as an emit, and as a corrective for the digestive forces. The dose would be half a teaspoonful three times each day, AFTER the meals.
-
Also we would begin at once with the osteopathic manipulations twice EACH week, that will make for a coordinating of those conditions along the upper dorsal area. But make the applications also in the lumbar and throughout the limbs, and especially to the feet; that we may remove those tendencies that exist upon the extremities as well as upon the brachial center and to the head and neck. Also we would alleviate those distresses to the sympathetics, that tend to make for disorders through the activity of the organs of the sensory system.
-
Each day as the body rests, just before retiring, we would use the Radio-Active Appliance. Make the connections each time to the upper extremities first, and then to the lower extremities on the opposite sides of the body. Or to the right wrist and left ankle on the first day, then to the left wrist and right ankle the next. Keep same attached for thirty to sixty minutes. Or if the body finds that it dozes off, let the appliance remain until it awakens.
-
The Compound and the Radio-Active Appliance would be taken throughout the period.
-
The osteopathic manipulations, we find, would preferably be taken for a period of three to four weeks, then a rest period from same of a week, then another treatment period of three to four weeks, then a rest period, then another series.
-
In sixty to ninety days after the beginning of the full line of the suggested applications, or after the third series of osteopathic treatments, we would then give further instructions or suggestions for corrective measures.
-
Be mindful of the diet, that quantities of starches and proteins (or meats) are not taken at the same meal. Eat the meats and sweets together. Or eat the starches in fruits and vegetables, rather than in quantities of bread.
-
Drink plenty of water at all times. While there may be an accentuation of some of the disturbances through a portion of the treatments, if these are applied in a consistent manner - as we find - we may bring better conditions for this body, [1109].
-
But, at the period indicated, we would give further instructions.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 2/6/36 [1109]‘s ltr. to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce Ass’n. for Research & Enlightenment, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce;
In this morning’s mail I received the result of my reading of Feb. 3rd, for which I thank you.
Am I to order the prescribed medicine from the professional Pharmacy of Norfolk, Va., or may I have it filled in New York?
Am I to see Dr. Dobbins in New York for osteopathic treatments or may I see a doctor who is located closer to my home?
I regret not having given you greater and fuller details regarding my condition when last I wrote you.
I have an acute case of sinusitis and have been thru several operations. I find this sinus condition very distressing.
What is causing my greatest distress, however, is a bronchial condition which my doctor in New York diagnosed as “bronchial asthma.”
My breathing is very shallow, cough and wheeze a great deal and the slightest exertion leaves me gasping for breath. As a matter of fact, at no time do I feel that I can fill my lungs with a sufficient amount of air - I seem unable to get air into my chest.
My coughing is productive of a great deal of mucous and also have considerable discharge from the sinuses, particularly in the morning.
I expect to leave on a business trip in about a month which will keep me away from home for about ten weeks. I would have to continue the osteopathic treatments while on the road and will be obliged to get them thru different doctors. In such case would it be necessary to carry an instruction sheet to those doctors?
Will it be possible for me to carry the Radio Active Appliance with me while on the road? Will I have any trouble applying it myself?
I hope I am not presuming upon your time in requesting that you be kind enough to let me hear from you in answer to my questions.
Thanking you in advance and assuring you of my appreciation, I am,
Sincerely yours,
R2. 2/8/36 EC’s ltr. to [1109]:
Mr. [1109] New York City
Dear Mr. [1109]
I appreciate your writing me as you did in yours of the 6th, and I am glad to try and answer your questions - giving any suggestions that I feel might possibly be of help in your receiving the best results from the treatments indicated.
In regard to the compound: From past experience, I believe you will find less delay and trouble by ordering this directly from the Norfolk druggist. He has filed compounds for us over a period of years, and has on hand many of the crude drugs that most druggists do not carry. Also, he has assured us that he will take every precaution to fill such compounds EXACTLY as the description is given. A new druggist in New York would have to be “broken in,” we might say, and even then you wouldn’t be assured of having the correct compound - with no substitutions; while Dr. Snyder Milton Snyder, Pharmacist] understands (from his experience) the necessity of following the instructions explicitly, if the desired results are to be obtained.
Most any GOOD osteopath would be able to give the treatments as suggested. We merely suggested Dr. Dobbins because he has handled about fifty cases according to the “Reading Suggestions” and has gotten marvellous results; consequently, he has faith in the suggestions sufficiently to follow them explicitly. And since you are to be on the road considerably, I would suggest that you go to Dr. Dobbins for your first treatment, and get him to tell you how to approach the other osteopaths whom you would need to contact while on the road. Some are cooperative and some are not, but most osteopaths would be if they had an introduction from an osteopath in sympathy with such information - and who has gotten results. Also you might give us your itinerary, in case we might know of osteopaths along the way who have had experience with our work. Yes, it would be necessary that you carry the letter to the osteopath with you, so that each time he would know how to treat; also you could have an explanatory letter from Dr. Dobbins if he will give you one.
Yes, it will be possible for you to carry the Radio-Active Appliance with you; it is a very small appliance, in the form of a battery. As no doubt the directions will indicate, however, it is very necessary that the little plates that are attached to the body be kept clean; that is, polished off each time before and after using, by rubbing them with the emery paper.
No doubt some specific questions concerning your condition would have clarified the information in your own mind. But I think if you will have Dr. Dobbins go over the reading with you, he can see how it fits your condition - through such terms as “cellular forces involved in ganglia - thinning of the walls of the circulatory system - affecting the respiratory system,” etc. And I believe, as in every instance, the reading has gone to the seat of the trouble rather than dwelling on outward symptoms - which are merely the effects.
Trusting this explanation will be of benefit, and that you will let us hear from you further, I am
Sincerely,
