This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 5th day of February, 1936, in accordance with request made by the self through Mr. [1120], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Mt. Sinai Hosp., Time of Reading 5th Ave. & 99th, 11:35 to 11:40 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1111]; this we have had before.

2. While many changes have come in the general physical forces of the body since last we had same here, those applications that are being made, those precautionary measures that are being taken - in the ministration of those things for the activities upon the fluids of the body, under the existent conditions - are well.

3. As we have indicated heretofore, we find that - as soon as there is sufficient strength, sufficient recuperative forces - it would be well for the body to be in the open, and where more of the ultra-violet ray of the sun may be had; or the sea, or the sun AND sea and sand.

4. With the general precautions that have been taken as respecting the activities of the body, these would be the more beneficial.

5. We would not alter, then, the conditions in the present - or under the present environment. But as soon as it is so that this may be performed, make a change to a warmer climate. We would prefer the seashore to the mountains or the desert air.

6. We are through with this reading.

R1. 2/6/36 EC’s letter to Mr. [1120]: “I do hope that Mr. [1111] is feeling a whole lot better. We find in this case, as in most circumstances of that nature, there is little or no interference to that being administered. However, it seems that he is having the very best care - and I trust he will soon be able to get out of the hospital and undertake the trip to Florida, or to some coast where he may have the advantage of those things suggested in a general way.

“Please convey to Mr. [1111] our best wishes and kindest personal regards.

“Appreciating your willingness to delay your Life Reading in order to attempt aid for a friend, and trusting we may soon send you some very interesting information, I am” Sincerely, Edgar Cayce

R2. 2/9/36 Mr. [257]‘s letter: “Mr. [1111] had a stroke - they say.”

R3. 2/16/36 Mr. [1120]‘s letter thanked EC for his Life Rdg. [1120-1] and said: “[1111] passed away last week and never came out of the hospital. Frankly I was somewhat disappointed in his reading because you failed to indicate his condition in the reading - the advice was most general and might fit any set of circumstances. This comment was made by many friends to whom I showed the file of [1111]. I am enclosing check to cover his reading and want to thank you for the special emergency attention you gave his reading in my behalf.”

R4. 2/19/36 EC’s letter to Mr. [1120]: “Am sorry indeed to hear of Mr. [1111]‘s death. Am sure, Mr. [1120], there is a lot we have to learn yet about the information. So often we do not understand the terms used until long after, but there must be regular laws that govern such matters as in everything else, and that is why we are trying to study the information, by keeping records of such happenings and checking one experience against another, and thereby to our own consciousness arrive at some sensible conclusion about same. In the first place there must be some visible assent of the individual seeking information, or one physically responsible for such an one. That is a hard thing to determine at times, I assure you. Then when there is a definite program already set for an individual, as is naturally the case in a hospital, apparently there is a reserve, a holding back of something.

“Now all this may sound to you as if I was trying to present an alibi, but I assure you this is not the case, for personally I have never blamed anyone for saying all manner of things about the work. But the amount of good that has come from the information seems to me to justify a serious study of the phenomena, and that is what I hope we are doing and will continue to do. For I never have made, and don’t think I ever could make, any claims for the information. I would like to talk this matter over with you again, when I see you, and would be glad if we might ask some direct questions as to the [1111] case [in a reading]. What do you say?”

R5. 3/14/36 Mr. [257]‘s letter requesting a [Ck. Physical] reading for Mr. [1110] via Mr. [1113]:

I am sure of one thing, Mr. [1113] is certainly giving a lot of time and if this man continues to improve as he is now doing, I feel that [1113] will do something for you in a very nice way. The only one hitch that we had so far was that [1111] was in the hospital and the readings said that when he came out he should go to Florida. But, when he came out they could just as soon have sent him to Alaska because he came out in a wooden overcoat. This is not trying to be funny but it is so ridiculous to have to have people like that. Yet, if we don’t explain how things can happen they get a wrong impression. I explained to them so far as I know at the time of the reading, he had an even chance but that a reaction set in, his heart failed him and there was nothing more that could be done about it.

R6. 3/16/36 EC’s letter to Mr. [257]: “About Mr. [1111] - well, you will find a lot in your reading gotten Sat. [257-162] that would well apply in that case. There is only one way such can ever help, [257]; that is to have the Dr. in the hospital watching the suggestions being used and use it themselves. No, can’t often get that done, but can’t be done any other way. For, as in that reading, ‘would not interfere with that being done’ will stand in the way. Hard, yes, but here is a much harder one. Have case [1045] in Texas, where the Dr. swears he is doing just exactly as the reading says, yet the reading insists he is not. Then one of the family [1100] from Mich. goes and finds out he is not at all and in consequence the lady [1045] is near about dead. But what can be done - just make a guess. Don’t think that I don’t have posers like that every day, and more. That I have any head at all is a wonder to me - doubt at times that I have.”

B2. 1/30/36 Friend Mr. [1120] phoned requesting Physical Rdg. for Mr. [1111] today if possible, if not he’ll write us later, as Mr. [1111] is leaving for Florida.

B3. 2/4/36 Mr. [1120] phoned saying Mr. [1111] didn’t go to Fla., he had an attack and was rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital. He is now resting quietly but wants a rdg. as soon as possible. Mr. [1111] seems to think a lot of the EC work since his reading several years ago. Mail rdg. to Mr. [1120] at his office, also wire instructions.
