This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 6th day of July, 1936, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [1212], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. L. B. Cayce.]
Time of Reading 3:50 to 4:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Va. (Body and enquiring mind. You will give a mental and spiritual reading for this entity, who seeks counsel and guidance especially as related to his association with his daughter, [543]. You will advise him in regard to his connection with her and just what he can do for her greatest good. You will answer the questions he has submitted, as I ask them:)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [1212]; especially in those relationships with the daughter, [543].
-
In giving that as we find that may be helpful to this body in advice and in counsel as respecting the mental and spiritual development of each, we find:
-
Those things or influences that exist ARE! The causes of same, as within every individual, may be found in seeking from within.
-
And if there are those tendencies or inclinations for an individual to condemn or to blame or to act in such a manner as to make that which IS for a development of none effect, or those attitudes allowed to be set upon influences from without, then indeed does the very being err.
-
That condition in which every individual finds self, and as with this, is a result of that which has been DONE WITHIN the self as RESPECTING the activity of Creative Forces from within.
-
Or it may be termed that self in its relationships with those of its own household, those of its own friendships, its own business associations, is constantly meeting itself.
-
Then the manner in which an individual may best determine that as is to be accomplished within self and self’s experience, self’s associations, is to constantly turn within.
-
While these forces may oft lead to the seeking of advice or counsel or help in this or that way or manner, KNOW - as the influence is from within and as has been given of old - all power, all healing, all help must come from within; or from the divine forces that arise in the activities of those individuals who may lend themselves in an activity in any way or manner; or any ministration of any character, unless it be founded in the spiritual body the results, the effects when they have borne fruit must become still lacking in that necessary force for the bringing about of a union, of a cooperative force, from and to ALL those that are concerned.
-
So, in seeking that as may be helpful, turn rather to those promises that have been given, that the Lord hath not willed that any soul should perish but hath with every temptation, with every trial, prepared a manner, a way of escape. And as He hath given within Himself, He hath taken on Himself the burdens of the world, the burdens of each individual. And if there will be that constant turning to Him, He will answer; not only relying upon and expecting those influences and forces to be activative upon thine self, upon thine associations, even upon thine own child. Rather let them, those promises, those activities, be rather as LIVING experiences in thy daily life; not only unto those of thine own loved ones, of thine own household, but upon those even that would make for criticism, the bringing upon self in ANY way or manner those things that would create doubt or fear. For the perfect love of the Master, of the Christ, casteth out fear of every nature. And until that perfect peace, until that perfect harmony, until that perfect at-onement is sought, such perfect love cannot be experienced. And this seeking means that attempt to in the daily life atone for those influences or faults that may have come into thine experience. For whom the Lord hath loved hath He chastened; upon him hath He laid the burdens of those influences and forces that may make for the drawing nearer and nearer unto that love as is found in Him.
-
THESE be the things, then, that this entity, this association, this experience, is to bring into the activity and life of this entity, [1212].
-
Study to show, then, THYSELF approved unto Him, as He hath laid down in that which has been transcribed by His friend, His servant, His companion, in that written in the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th chapters of St. John. Compare this with those as in the 12th of Romans and 13th of Corinthians also, and ye will find that which will make in thy life, in thy activity, a harmony and a peace that hath not heretofore existed.
-
Quit YOURSELF like a true son of a living God. BE NOT AFRAID! But if ye would bring the best, give of thy best, denying thyself, thy appetites, thy activities, that ye may know the Lord; for He will do thee good!
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Regarding my daughter, [543], should we keep her at home, place her with another family or companion, or place her in an institution? (A) If there is the correct type of a companion at home, yet almost separate, this would be the better way. CHOOSE then rather a nurse that has HAD an experience in and an understanding in what is called Christian Science, or Unity. For this is that needed most in the experience of this body in the present; that of a constant, a daily contact, daily experience with the living ways.
Keep the body in the open as much as is possible, where those surroundings are just as pleasant as possible but more and more of a SPIRITUAL nature.
-
(Q) How frequently should she rest and for how long? (A) This is why this has been given, that she should be under the supervision of a nurse TRAINED but in KEEPING with the influences. And these as we find offer the greater opportunity for saving of the mind in the present, and of the activities in this experience.
-
(Q) What should be our attitude and how can she be handled during spells of opposition toward her mother? (A) As has been given. Let the arrangement be as in the home yet separate, with the whole care of same under the supervision of such a person. Such an one may be sought and may be had through any of those centers where such a work is conducted.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 7/8/36 EC’s letter to Mr. [1212]: “I’m glad you made it home all okay. I am sure you were both tired. I wish we might have made some arrangements here for you. I do hope the suggestions that were given in your reading will be helpful. I don’t know that I can add a great deal just now for most of the information was quite definite. I am sure, would you write the Mother Church of the Christian Scientists, Boston, Mass., they can give you the name of a nurse that is near you that you will be able to be with [543], and just now this appears to be the best thing to do. I will be glad to know what your decision in the matter is, and how it all works out. You know we are all very fond of [543] and are anxious to be of help if possible.
“Please let us hear from you, with love to all from all here…”
