This psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 9th day of March, 1937, in accordance with request made by the daughter, Mrs. [1158], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]

Time of Reading 11:25 to 11:50 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ohio. (Physical Suggestion)

  1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1224].

  2. Now, as we find, while the disturbing conditions are acute, the disturbance is rather an effect.

  3. To be sure, it has been determined to be of a very insidious nature, but as in all conditions of an arthritic nature, these vary according to that which is the basic cause of the disturbance.

  4. Here, as we find, though some effects of course vary in the circulatory forces and the effects that are had, the greater portion arises from a glandular condition.

  5. Hence in its very nature it is more to be reckoned with.

  6. These effects arise from stoppages in portions of the glandular activity, and in the attempts of the body to adjust itself it has not as it were found its outlet.

  7. Hence the acute condition that arises in the lymph circulation and the effect upon those portions in the structural part of the body as well as in the extremities; and it is inflammatory in its nature to not only the tendons and muscles but at times to the very covering of the structural portions themselves.

  8. As we find, while hospitalization might be very good, there may be under the sympathetic care of a nurse that would follow suggestions as may be given here, the greater and more lasting benefit from such applications; rather than the administrations of internal medicines so much, or injections.

  9. For these (such medications) as we find, as yet, are in the most part palliatives.

  10. Hence as we find if there will be made those applications in these directions (as we will give), and if there is kept a consistent and a persistent adherence to suggestions as may be indicated from time to time as conditions change or develop, we may rid the system of this very insidious, very disturbing condition.

  11. As we would find then, first:

  12. We would bathe the inflammatory portions in the structural development and in the body and in the extremities, with a combination of three parts Essence or Tincture of Laudanum and one part Aconite.

  13. Then, immediately following, we would apply a saturated solution of Epsom Salts in Packs over the same area. These will allay the excruciating pains that come at times.

  14. Also we would begin with very small doses of Chloride of Gold and of Soda. Make these in separate solutions, in this manner:

  15. To fifteen grains of Chloride of Gold add 15 ounces of Distilled Water, or that proportion - one grain to one ounce, you see.

  16. To two grains of Bicarbonate of Soda add one ounce of Distilled Water, or that proportion - two grains to one ounce, you see.

  17. When these are to be given, which would be twice a day, mornings before any meal, evenings just before the evening rest, begin in this manner:

  18. One minim of the Gold Solution, two minims of the Soda Solution (this by dropper method), in half a glass of water. This dosage would be given for two days.

  19. Then increase to two minims of the Gold Solution and four minims of the Soda Solution. This would be given for two days.

  20. Then increase to three minims of the Gold Solution and six minims of the Soda solution. This would be given for two days.

  21. Then leave off for two days.

  22. Then begin with the Gold Solution and the Soda Solution again, but one minim of the Gold and two of the Soda, and follow as first outlined; continuing to repeat the whole procedure in that manner.

  23. Also:

  24. We would begin with the use of the Wet Cell Appliance that carries Chloride of Gold and the commercial strength of Atomidine. These solutions are to be used in the Appliance alternately each day; that is, they are to be given both the same day, you see; one in the morning, the other in the afternoon - but for only twenty minutes.

  25. The strength of the Gold Solution should be three grains to each ounce of Distilled Water; while the Atomidine should be the commercial strength of same. Use six ounces of each Solution.

  26. In making the applications of these, they should be in separate containers, of course, with separate leads.

  27. When the Atomidine Solution is used, the smaller copper plate would be attached first, at the 9th dorsal vertebra or solar plexus ganglia; while the larger plate passing through the Solution would be attached last, at the lacteal duct and umbilicus plexus - or a hand’s breadth, just the four fingers to be sure, from the navel center toward the right, straight line.

  28. When using the Gold Solution, the smaller or copper plate would be attached first, at the 4th lumbar plexus; while the larger plate, passing through the Solution, would be attached last - to the gall duct and liver plexus, or a hand’s breadth above and about an inch and a half toward the center, or just at the end, of course, of the rib area.

  29. Each of these applications would only be made for twenty minutes; one in the morning, the other in the evening.

  30. Also after each of these treatments with the Appliance we would massage the body the full length of the cerebrospinal system and then, beginning at the centers from which the arms receive their nerve impulse, massage in a circular motion about the arms, gently; of course, clear to the fingers; and the lower limbs, of course, clear to the toes. For such massaging we would use an equal combination of Olive Oil and Tincture of Myrrh. Sponge off the body afterwards with a weak Soda Solution.

  31. Keep the Epsom Salts Packs for periods sufficient to remove the greater portion of distress.

  32. After the first period of the Appliance’s usefulness, or after twenty-nine days, we would change these applications.

  33. Do these for the present.

  34. In the matter of the diets, these, of course, become very, very necessary influences and forces for the body. This would be as an outline:

  35. We would have the Whole Wheat or Maltex cereals, and at other times but not on the same days we would have the Citrous Fruit juices for the morning meal - or prunes, or rhubarb; or at other times we would have the small fruits, if so desired.

  36. In the noon meal we would have preferably such things as vegetable soups and the juices of vegetables.

  37. Then when the vegetables for the evening meal are cooked, cook them only in their own juices, their own salts retained in same. Do not take meats save lamb or fowl, and these never fried. The vegetables would be cooked preferably in Patapar Paper, served in their own juices - or serve them with same, see? Hence not any of the dried seeds or beans or the like would be included, but rather the fresh vegetables - plenty of onions or kales or all of those, so they are well cooked in their OWN juices.

  38. Ready for questions.

  39. (Q) Should all the treatments be begun at first? (A) All the treatments should be begun just as fast as they may be given.

  40. (Q) Do you know if Dr. Reginald Burbank of 6 East 78th St., N.Y. City, can help me? (A) The choice is to be made.

As we have given, we will find that with a sympathetic attendant or nurse these conditions as indicated may be better cared for here at home. If the choice is made that it is to depend upon outside forces, this physician is as well as any.

  1. (Q) Would a month spent at Clifton Springs Sanitarium, N.Y. State, be beneficial? (A) Again, if it is the choice, do same. WE have given that as WE find in preference. There may be then the choice.

Know in WHOM as well as in WHAT ye believe. Ye have the experiences that the calling on the Divine, by song or by setting up vibrations within self, apparently eases.

Are ye trusting in the Divine of thyself as it may cooperate with the material manifestations that have been given into a material world, or to the science of a self-satisfied group or individuals?

  1. (Q) If this treatment suggested is followed, how long before a cure can be effected? (A) Remember what has been given in the first. The character of the cause is very insidious. It will require time and patience. Very soon we should find a great deal of help and relief, but that is not a cure. It will require at least six to nine months - there will be changes as indicated at each period of the necessity for recharging the Appliance, or at those periods this may be altered or left off.

Choose thou the best.

  1. We are through for the present.
