This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 19th day of December, 1936, in accordance with request made by the friend, Mr. [333], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 10:10 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Washington, D.C. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, [1242].

2. As we find, there are rather serious conditions; still those attempts of the body to drain off or throw off the poisons and accumulations.

3. If the Ash is used with the combinations that have been indicated in their various ways and manners, these should - if the strength of the body is able to be retained - work for the bettered conditions.

4. Keep up that as has been indicated. These as we find offer the greater opportunities for help and assistance at this time.

5. Ready for questions.

6. (Q) What dosage of the Ash now should be given? (A) One-eighth grain twice each day.

7. (Q) Must or may he be fed through the rectum? If so, what? (A) These are not so well. If there are the abilities for the least of foods through the mouth or esophagus, the better.

8. (Q) What caused the hemorrhage yesterday morning? (A) As indicated, the attempts of the body to eradicate poisons.

9. (Q) Is this the beginning of the end? or is there hope for a recovery? (A) This depends upon the responses as has been indicated.

10. (Q) What further advice for those desiring to help the body? (A) Follow those suggestions that have been indicated in every way and manner. Do that.

R1. 12/20/36 Wife’s letter: “Rec’d the last reading and see we must continue as before. Mr. [1242] has been unable to take the Ash at all, and now that he is being fed by tube entirely it would not do him any good as I understand it should pass the affected parts.

“Mr. [1242] has gained considerable strength since he is being fed in this method and feels a great deal stronger. There is not much change in the face, although it seems to be spreading some.

“Enclosed find $10 and may your Christmas be a Happy one and the New Year brighter.” Respectfully, Mrs. […] [wife of [1242]]

“Two weeks later. Many things took place in the past two weeks, hence this letter never got in the mail. Mr. [1242] is much stronger and is getting along fine.”

R2. 1/6/37 EC’s reply: “Thanks for yours of recent date with enclosure. Glad to know Mr. [1242] is holding his own at least. Know we are glad to try and help whenever we may. We all just hope and pray for the best.” With all good wishes, Sincerely, Edgar Cayce

R3. 1/12/37 Mr. [333]‘s letter: “Our friend [1242] has passed on out of his sick and suffering body which was cremated yesterday. The passing occurred last Saturday afternoon [1/9/37] at 4 P.M. I was one of many from Resettlement who attended the service in a Funeral Chapel yesterday afternoon. Services were conducted by a Christian Science reader who treated [1242] some months ago. The two [1242] children are members and regular attendants at the Science School.”

R4. 1/14/37 EC’s reply: “Thanks for yours of the 12th. Sorry indeed to hear of Mr. [1242]‘s death, tho am sure the poor soul is much better. Know I do not look at death as some. Maybe I am all wrong, but when it comes, to me it is just going through God’s other door - gone into another room of activity, minus the ills of the body - unless we have worshiped the body, then we carry it with us - we haven’t changed because we die, only freed from physical hindrances; but if we have builded only for the needs of the physical, well, how lonesome we must be.”

R5. 3/11/37 Wife’s letter: “I am sorry I have been so late in making my last payment, but I had to wait to collect some money Mr. [1242] had in his own name.

“I thank you for all you did - it at least gave Mr. [1242] hope and that was some comfort. The end came suddenly, which I am grateful for.

“He had mentioned a short time before he died that three months would see the end.

“He was kind and good and I surely miss him and wish he was just sitting in his chair again, even though he could not talk. It’s selfish I know, and he is resting - something he did not have for months.

“Again thank you for your help.” Sincerely, Mrs. […] [wife of [1242]]

R6. 3/13/37 EC wrote thanking her, saying: “Know he must have been a great sufferer, but we remember that it is said, ‘Though He were the Son, yet learned He obedience through the things which He suffered.’ Am sure you feel a great loss, but may the strength of the Divine Love sustain you at all times.”

R7. 5/25/41 Dr. [683] wrote about using the same Appliance which Mr. [1242] used, for her own condition [cancer of the breast].

R8. 9/6/41 She wrote of visiting Mr. [1242]‘s wife, going over [1242]‘s readings, getting directions for making the Plantain Salve, etc.
