[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 10:40 to 11:10 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ohio.
-
GC: You will have before you the entity, [1266], born Oct. 6, 1859, in Western Star, Ohio - near Akron, and the information which has been given him through this channel. Also you will have before you his activities and interests in the rubber industry. You will answer the questions which have been submitted by his daughter, [1158], as I ask them, regarding the future welfare of the [1266] Tire & Rubber Co. - and the proper procedure for those in charge.
-
EC: Yes, we have the information that has been indicated here, regarding the activities of [1266] and his associations or interests in the rubber industry; the connections and activities with others, conditions that exist in the present in relationships to the [1266] Rubber Company, and others.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Is son […], …, Ohio the right person to head the [1266] Tire & Rubber Co? (A) As we find, all conditions considered, [son] would be the proper one to head the Tire & Rubber Company. Also it would be well that [1266] withdraw from ACTIVE associations in the rubber industry; only in an advisory committee or as a part of an advisory board, as we find would be the better activity.
Then if there is the proper - or the correct - consideration given in regards the interests and the conditions that are a part of [1266]‘s activities in association with the U.S. Rubber Company, these as we find may be turned in such an interest or manner as to be under the direction of the Board and headed by [son] and become a power to be reckoned with - if the policies and the activities are kept in that which is of a constructive nature and not the antagonisms that have arisen.
For as we find these differences have kept the activities of the [1266] Rubber and United States rubber from being in the correct or proper attitude for the best of all concerned. It is true that the activities of [1265], with whom there have been connections and associations, have been such as to require a “right-about-face” as it were. While the entity [1265] has headed, has had ideals and idealistic interests, there are (those very conditions as we have intimated and given) influences that should be corrected, and that it would be well for the entity [1265] to correct within self’s own attitudes.
Then, while these differences have been existent, OTHERS have fortified themselves in such manners that unless there is a coalition of the interests of [1265] and [1266], in such a manner as to be a COOPERATIVE influence, much of that which has been as a dream, as a desire, as an interest, will be lost.
Rather than hunting, magnifying the differences that have existed, that do exist in the minds of [1266] and [1265] and the interest concerned, it would be well then that these - in the manner of forbearance one toward another, and in the manner of brotherly love - combine their ideals, and approach the conditions with that of finding where there is rather the UNION of ideas than the differences.
To be sure, under the circumstances - and the amount of stock that is held in the names of each as an interest - it will appear that there are necessarily great concessions to be given in dealing in such a way and manner.
It may appear to be a “right-about-face” in some of the statements, some of the activities that have so long made for rather turmoils; but if you would have faith, show faith; if you would have life, give life.
Only in cooperation may life of the abilities of the organizations that you each represent be given life for activity at all.
For other interests are taking, have taken, advantage of these differences; and have made conditions harder for all.
Then, MAKE concessions - each in your own way.
-
(Q) Is the United States Rubber Co. stock now under technical ownership of [1265]? (A) Under the technical ownership but controlled rather by interests that have been warring and using the differences, as indicated, to their individual advantage.
-
(Q) Should it not be in the rightful possession of [1266]? (A) As has been indicated, this must depend upon the choice of each in this present attempt to settle the difficulties that have grown between these in their varied activities.
-
(Q) Can this be settled without legal proceedings? (A) If they are willing, as has been indicated, to consider the interests of their ideals and of that which is right in the considering of each, then this may be settled.
It will, as has been indicated, require concessions on the part of ALL concerned; but will mean much more to all.
-
(Q) How should [1266] proceed to amicably settle the differences between [1265] and himself? (A) As has been given. Only by the very act of being willing to bear and forbear, to give and forgive, to make for the proper - or make for concessions in ways and manners as indicated.
-
(Q) Can [1265] fulfil his dream respecting production of American crude rubber requirements without his dependence upon the U.S. Rubber Co. stock now in his technical possession, and without the services of [1266]? (A) As has been given, owing to these differences, and owing to the conditions that have arisen, in the hands of others who have interested and have projected themselves through taking advantage of these very conditions, this becomes a great problem.
So unless there is a cooperative, coordinant force created between these, this will rather turn into the hands of others and leave these who have been, who are JUSTLY - by their very activities and interests - able, and justly so, to control - or at least AID in directing - such production and distribution.
-
(Q) Should [1266] remain on the board of [1266] Rubber Co. or should he retire from active service with the rubber industry? (A) As has been indicated, well that he only act in an advisory way and manner, and not as a direct member of the board - but advisory so.
-
(Q) Can you give any other constructive suggestions for the success of the [1266] Rubber Co? (A) Only, as has been given, by the ability of each in the differences to be settled through the choices of those who are involved in same to do that which is SPIRITUALLY just and right, without the material or financial considerations so much. These should be the results of labor well spent, of mind kept directly in active force, rather than by might and power alone.
For when there are injustices of any nature perpetrated by any organization or group to any force or power, or any portion of such an organization, it produces the canker that is - as has been given - the moth and rust that doth corrupt; and sooner or later it brings dissension, discussion, disease in the minds of all; and disturbances that are destructive in their nature.
Would that all corporations, all organizations, KNOW and realize, the law of the Lord is as the two-edged sword, that divides between the joint and the marrow! Or unless good is done to all, good cannot grow out of same. For what ye sow, ye reap! For God is not mocked, and His laws shall not pass but shall be fulfilled!
Know, then:
Cooperation, coordination, brotherly love, forbearance, patience, persistence - these are the foundations not only of the spiritual life but of the secular life, and the cooperation or corporation life.
If these are adhered to - GOD giveth the increase, ever! Not man’s abilities or man’s sharp practices by creating or producing a hardship upon any portion of any organization! These only make for those things that eventually turn upon itself and destroy it!
- We are through for the present.
