GC: You will have before you the information that has been given regarding Lostman’s River, on the west coast of Monroe County, Florida, and the treasure located there. You will answer the questions that I will ask you regarding this.
-
EC: Yes. We have that information as has been given as respecting the location of treasure as may be secured at this place. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Please give us the number of feet this stump is located from edge of water, and does tide affect the water level? (A) To some extent. Very little does the tide affect the water level here, for this, as given, is some six (6) miles above the still water, at ebb tide, see?
Now, we find that the distance from the water’s edge is on three sides, as this: From the West some six (6) feet. From the South end or point of island some fifteen (15) feet. From the East side some eighteen (18) feet. See?
-
(Q) Is treasure located on island where there are a few houses built? (A) (Interrupting) No.
-
(Q) (Continuing) If not, which island? Give exact location as south, east, or west, and number of feet or miles from channel leading up to the island where houses are located. (A) The channel of the river, as is seen, passes to the west of the island on which some houses are located. The island on which the treasure is located lies east and north from this island. There are some lean-to’s and other smaller places called lean-to’s, or residences, but not houses. This island is some half to three-quarters of a mile from the other island nearer the channel, see? but, as given, this lies towards the eastern bank, see? and up. This will be easy to locate here! Only be careful of the people that surround same, see? for without same there would become trouble, and being ordered away, or watched - and even if obtained might cause incidentaries that would not be helpful to those - would they live very long, see? Best to carry this out in the way and manner as given, to camp or locate camp here, and move same to the point where it would cover this - then work work inside, see? We are through for the present.

R2. 4/28/27 EC’s letter:
Mr. [943] …, Florida
Dear Mr. [943]
I just received a wire asking for the information on Lostman’s River before this week end, but our appointments are such at the present time, Mr. [943], that it is impossible for us to get to this. I regret this very much, but under the circumstances I can’t help it, and I don’t feel I am justified in making someone wait for whom we have made the appointment and they have accepted same, even for something that is of a great importance as locating this treasure. Do you think so? But I assure you, just as soon as we have the opportunity we will do this. However, I thought you had this as specific as it would be possible to be given - but I’ll let you hear from me again as soon as I can get to it.
With kindest personal regards from all,
Sincerely, [signed] Edgar Cayce [EC:GD]
