This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 23rd day of June, 1937, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. […], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Alexander F. Jenkins of Baltimore, Md.]
Time of Reading 3:05 to 3:15 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Mass. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here; this we have had before.
-
As we find, there are definite and decided improvements. These are indicated in the general health and in the quietness that is seen in the activities.
-
The mental reactions necessarily need more of those connections between the impulse and the activity for carrying out same. These as we find may be aided and accomplished by the continued use, first, of the low electrical vibrations in the Wet Cell Appliances as has been indicated. This we would keep.
-
We find also, while not so often, there should be periods when there is the repeating of the applications of the Oil Packs for the breaking up of the lesions in the caecum and the areas in the abdomen.
-
The massages we find would be well to be taken, and especially these should be applied in the coccyx, the 4th lumbar, the 9th dorsal, and then in the upper cervical and upper dorsal; but the more of the application in the coccyx, the 4th lumbar, the 9th dorsal, and then in the upper cervical and the upper dorsal areas.
-
These we would keep, and keep the body in the open; taking the care and precautions necessary for its welfare, and we will find improvements continuing, and the greater increase in the mental attitudes and mental development.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Has there been the response as should be from the treatments? (A) There has been the response, as indicated. This is shown in the general health and in the quietness of the body.
Keep those things indicated.
-
(Q) Should the Wet Cell Appliance be continued in the same manner? (A) As has just been given, this should be continued; keeping the plates or anodes clean, renewing the application - or the solutions that are given as vibratory forces for the body.
-
(Q) May any advice be given as to special training for him? (A) This as we find will come more with the general development for the mental activities in those periods when these would be taken up again - in September or October.
-
We are through with this Reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 11/2/40 GD’s note: Ck. Physical reading 1343-4 was obtained for the maternal grandmother of [1322]; and 7/5/44 Ck. Physical 5313-4 was obtained by a maternal aunt of [1322].
R2. 11/14/67 Sister of [1322] wrote A.R.E.: “I would like to enquire about the possibility of obtaining a copy of a reading which Edgar Cayce did for my brother concerning his condition of mental retardation… I would also like to know if there are any general readings for mental retardation…also on the existence of a gland unknown to science, the lyden [Leydig]… Please let me know what I may send you to reimburse you for your time and efforts in these matters. Thank you for your wonderful work and service.”
R3. 11/27/67 GD replied, sending a copy of 1322-1 and 1322-2:
“It was good to hear from you. I remember your Uncle [1323] quite well and your Aunt [5313] and [4101], though I don’t believe I met your mother. One day in June, I believe, in 1924, I spent the day with the Cayces at your grandparents’ home in …, Ohio. We took some pictures of us all gathered around a beautiful ripe cherry tree.
“We are sending to you some introductory material on the present activities of A.R.E. in studying and making available the records left by Edgar Cayce.
“Regarding the glands, twelve general readings were given on the glands of the human body, including information on the ‘lyden’ [or Leydig], and these are in print in THE REVELATION
- which you will find on the publication list.
“We would like to hear from you again and to know whether or not the treatment for your brother [1322] was continued, and the results obtained.”
R4. 12/22/67 Mr. [1322]‘s sister wrote GD:
“How wonderful to receive a letter from you with news of family contacts so many years back. I wrote to Aunts [5313] and [4101] and Uncle [1323] and told them I heard from you.
“And thank you for the copy of the readings for my brother [1322]… Enclosed is payment plus a small contribution to Foundation.
“I am trying to find out from the family what was done in the way of carrying out the treatment. My father does not remember if osteopathic treatment was carried out. My mother died about five years ago - she would have remembered. My brother [1322] is doing fairly well. He is in a very progressive State institution …, Conn. where he works in the kitchen of the hospital for bedridden retarded children. He is called a trainee and gets a little money every week… [she told GD about her own interests in various writings and teachings, including Krishnamurti, Rudolf Steiner, etc. “and now this fall coming across Edgar Cayce’s life work - everything is tying in so beautifully”…]
“I hope I have not rambled too much, but knowing more about Edgar Cayce’s work and your work in Virginia Beach has inspired me to write you about these things.”
