This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 28th day of June, 1929, in accordance with request made by Mr. [900].
[Edgar Cayce; Mrs. Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mr. L. B. Cayce.]
Time of Reading 3:00 P. M. Eastern Standard Time.
-
GC: Body and enquiring mind, dreams had several times, also last night, regarding [900] coming to the Beach and having an accident, which might have been avoided. Explain meaning.
-
EC: We have here those condition, circumstances, and the enquiring minds [900] and [136], and that which has brought about the presentations to the body of conditions as respecting the body. As has been seen, there have been some discussions as to the plausibility, feasibility, duty and such, as respecting such trips, and there has been builded in the mental forces of the body those conditions that would act as hindrances toward such. Then, a natural consequence of same, as has been given as to how thoughts create those conditions that become as actualities in material forces. Hence these presentations are only the outcome of such condition. And continued might, could, or would, bring about those conditions wherein this would happen, or could happen. Hence the lessons, as has oft been given, as to how one in one’s mental being may create those conditions that bring about just such physical results. But, even as the visions are seen, these continue to be mingled together with both good and bad. Just as such thoughts create and bring about such conditions. Then, desist! Either be on the one side or the other, and act that as would bring to self that desired.
-
(Q) Should the body [900] go to the Beach at this time, or this week end? (A) The promise is for such, and such should be the case.
-
We are through.

R1. 7/19/29 Historical Data and Connections of Mrs. [136] according to the Edgar Cayce Life readings were compiled by the Historical Committee, Thomas J. Sugrue, Hugh Lynn Cayce and Gladys Davis. [Following was originally a Supplement]:
HISTORICAL DATA and CONNECTIONS of Mrs. [136]
Being a treatise on the entity’s relations and relationships with officers and trustees of the Association of National Investigators Inc., and employees of the Cayce Hospital.
Compiled and edited by the Historical Committee of the Association of National Investigators, Inc., from the Life Readings of the Association members, at Virginia Beach, Va.
In the experiences of this entity are cross-currents and variable urges, the lives being mixed and assorted, going from the high to the low and vice versa. In the present a great many negative urges struggle with a great many positive urges, and the result is an attitude of indecision at times, though with ever the confidence in self to handle any situation as may arise.
FIRST APPEARANCE - EGYPT (See 136-1 in comparison with life readings of others mentioned.) “The reward of old age is wisdom, the wages of youth is love.”
“Isiso, in house of priests, and making music before alter as first erected in temple. Very close to the sage of that time, who then being up in years needed the attention of those who could bring help to same. King’s favorite at the same time. This the period of greater development in Earth’s plane, reaching the understanding of occult and mystic forces, which remain dormant in entity but may be awakened through that element of faith set by entity in the higher Beings realm manifested in Earth.”
Because this is the period of greatest development it is the period from which urges should be fostered and allowed to be dominate. In this period the entity was able to absorb the wisdom of the sage [900] with his love and respect, was favorite to the King [341] and had the remarkable advantage of coming after that period of strife when the urges of antagonism causing trouble now grew up. Then the entity should be in harmony with all these people, and has the innate ability to understand and appreciate the [EC] work. SECOND APPEARANCE - PALESTINE
“There is a destiny that shapes our ends -”
“Only in earth’s plane a short time, coming at the time of the leaving of the Chaldean forces for the Holy City, and going into spirit forces before leaving that city. Hence the returning a chosen personage (See Troy). In the present the gained consciousness of the plane in which the elemental may be manifested through flesh.” (Life Reading of Mrs. [136].)
In this period we find the entity again fortunate, for she did not live to go through that period of strife and contact which again is causing trouble in the present through antagonistic urges. Again here in the ability of spirit forces, which combined with the urge from the Egyptian period gives the entity great power of understanding and ability in the higher forces - yet these urges latent now through the influence of later appearances.
THIRD APPEARANCE - TROY
“Is this the face that launched a thousand ships, and burned the topless towers of Ilium?” - Lucien.
“Helen of Troy. Present ability to bring about self those who seek to acknowledge ability of entity to fascinate many.
Not in the manner of the one seeking this, yet the innate ability to bring about these conditions; yet never lording over any.” (Life Reading of Mrs. [136].)
Here is the beginning of these urges dominant in the present, for the life of Helen of Troy is one of unconscious domination over all with whom she came in contact. This is, as the reading says, innate, and though the entity never attempts consciously to dominate, subconsciously there is the knowledge of this ability, and unconsciously it is used at times. This the third step in the rounding out of a many-sided and in many ways, well-balanced entity.
FOURTH APPEARANCE - ENGLAND
” - he never said a foolish thing, nor ever did a wise one.”
- Buckingham to Charles II, the Merry Monarch.
“Mary Tudor, attendant to Henrietta; gave much counsel, yet absorbed much of the elements of the one with whom entity engaged. Hence urge in the present to ‘get even with you yet.’ Also the desire to make the best of situations that may arise in the life, and the ability to do so. No matter under what conditions the entity had the urge, the ever latent power, realizing it can meet the conditions necessary.”
Here the characterization completes itself, in the confidence to meet any condition. Combined with the urges from the appearances in Troy we find one combining a great deal of power with the proper amount of self-confidence. This tends to make one who is apt to sublimate or disregard the importance of the spiritual and supernatural at times, because of the great abilities and gifts of the physical and physically mental.
In this appearance there is the complication of many years lived in France, in the court of Louis XIV. This was the time when Charles II, was also there in exile, and many of the people now contacted are found in that period and place. As to the relationships then:-
[900] was the sage of entity’s Egyptian appearances. In that period as companion and pupil the entity learned to love and honor this man, and in the present the urge is easily seen. [900] appeared again in the Palestine period, but then the entity died as a babe, and no contact was had. Then he appeared in the Troy period as Achilles, and led his Myrmidons against the city, fighting not so much to free Helen, as to gain glory and greatness for himself. He was shot in the heel, his one vulnerable point; and so far as we can discover never contacted with Helen, though holding her as the ideal for which he fought (same as “Make world safe for democracy), and in present will fight for her and hold her as the ideal. Yet because of her he lost and was killed, and he may at times feel an unconscious or subconscious urge that the beauty and power of such a woman may be dangerous
- but this is negligible, being dominated by many others. These two contacts are the only ones, and from them is seen the urges for a great love, a great companionship, and a great partnership for the good of all with whom these two contact. Again as the teacher can [900] be great, if the entity awakens the urges for the occult and mystic and lends that understanding to the truths he teaches now as he did then.
Only in Egypt did the entity meet with [195] who was then head builder. He was contacted, as were the others, when they were in their old age, and had with experience won wisdom and tolerance. In a family way was he met, and the contact could not have been other than pleasant. To-day no urge except that of co-operation for a common cause, and the congeniality of fellow man.
The urge toward [953] would be good from the Egyptian period, as he counselled banishment of the priest, but as with the others, he was old when met, and the period of strife had passed. But in the English period he appears as a follower of Cromwell, and defender of the gate through which the executioners passed to behead Charles I, who was wife to the entity’s mistress then. Perhaps he was not met or seen, but there is that innate hate and urge of antagonism. Throughout the appearances we find this entity [953] as opposed to [900], [137] and [257], and it seems the negative urges must be overcome before co-operation can be effected. Aid everyone, and self, to meet this man halfway.
[137] was not contacted before this life. His urges are the highest and noblest, his abilities infinite.
Only in Egypt does [257] appear, and though in opposition to [900] there did not meet entity, until that had been settled. Yet the closeness of the entity to [900] may carry over such.
Be careful that [257] does not imagine you side with [900] and buck him.
In Egypt alone does [341] meet the entity also; and he as the King whose favorite entity was, and friend and benefactor to [900], has now the highest regard for entity, and should be vice versa. These two can understand each other an accomplish much in co-operation.
Mr. [2694] in Egypt, in Troy, and in France, appeared with the entity, yet always he seems to have been in an inferior station, or different condition, and not where contact would be probable. He has a peculiar faculty of being able to treat with anyone peaceably, and as a go-between is invaluable. He tends to let the purpose and ideals slip from his vision now and then, and should be reminded of them.
In Egypt, In Troy - as a defender of the gate - and in France, did the entity contact with [294]. In Egypt as the banished priest who was forgiven and returned there will be no urge other than a companionship feeling for people living at the same time. In Troy he defended and admired the entity. Look in the Iliad for the scene of Helen on the Wall, and read carefully the old men’s conversation concerning her. He was one of these. In France he perhaps did not meet the entity - in fact could not have, as his period was later than that of Charles II. From Troy will come that intimacy and the fighting for one cause, and the entity [294] highly respects and admires women, and especially for this entity will he do much.
Only in Egypt was [165] present, and then there was no contact, for as father of [341], he must have died before the entity came into the household. He has urges against [900] and [257], and feels [900] is incapable. Use the power of attracting men to make this man co-operate and cease trouble in the Association. By that is meant merely side with [900] and he cannot help but be drawn to that angle - the power is innate within you.
In Egypt and in Troy was [204] met. In Egypt he was teacher and preacher, and under [900]. In Troy he was under [900] again. Now he has urges which make him hard to handle, that is, he resists domination. Again aid [900] - as with [165], so with [204].
Mrs. [903] did not appear in the Egyptian period, and after that never came in contact with the entity. She is very close to [257], and will act and side as he does.
In Egypt Mrs. [538] was the woman who caused the exile of the banished priest. She probably did not meet the entity, nor was there any contact later, but now, as then, she can make a great deal of trouble, and will, if she feels that wrong has been done to herself or those she loves. She thinks more than she talks - sees all - hears all.
In Egypt [288] was the child of [294] and Mrs. [538]. She died at an early age, and there was no contact. Her appearances have all been unhappy, and she has fear of oppressions, suspicion of mankind, and is easily hurt by any little remark.
Mrs. [760] was associated with the entity in Egypt, being the sister of [341] and the one who decorated the temple. Then in a family way, and the urge should be for understanding and co-operation.
Mrs. [5673], nurse at the hospital, we find in the Egyptian period as one giving aid and succor to the needy. All these women have had very individualistic careers, and each one has particular urges. But all are women, and their experiences have rounded them into well-developed entities. In this present relationship by their influence they can do much to hold the men in harmony and aid the work by such.
In Egypt the entity [849] was a native, as was [900], and led a revolution against the throne, failing in this act. He is very close to [900] and [341], and is entirely wrapped up in his work - writing - and The Work.
[5453] was in Egypt, Troy, and England - but only in Troy was the contact direct. In Egypt he was associated with the rule and in accord with the entity’s beliefs and faith. In Troy he was assistant to [294] as defender of the gate, and here the urge comes of respect and idealism. In England he merely carried the message across the Thames when Charles I was beheaded. His is a peculiarly amicable disposition, easy to get along with and never causing trouble.
[5618] in Egypt was a power of reconciliation between the opposing forces. To-day he can do much to keep the spirit in harmony. To everyone he is the same - agreeable, conciliating, but very sensible and capable of advising.
In summing up we might say that the relationships are very agreeable and should cause no animosity or misunderstanding. Rather is the trouble with the harmonizing of those urges in the entity’s self - the bringing together of the strong physical and physically mental attributes with the latent abilities in the spiritual and mystic. When these are properly combined a tremendous force will be manifested.
