This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 17th day of May, 1937, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. […], new Associate Membership sponsored by Mr. Dale Parker and recommended by Mrs. [413].
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. [1372]”s mother, Mrs. [413], Miss [307] and Mrs. [404].]
Time of Reading 11:05 to 11:35 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1372].
-
Now as we find, conditions are very serious in the general physical forces of the body. For with the activities that destroy the abilities of the blood supply to build energies, the organs become weakened by their overactivity - as is indicated in the heart condition, as well as the source from which the infection or the strep arises that produces or causes this weakening and the debilitation of the blood stream.
-
These then are the conditions as we find them in the present with this body, [1372].
-
In the blood supply we find first the effects of strep, in the nature that destroys the ability of the blood stream to produce coagulation in the system where used energies make for drosses in the body.
-
Hence we have the pulsation, the inability of the muscular forces in the heart’s activity, the inability of the building of blood supply through the assimilation to supply sufficient energies for the maintaining of any way near an equilibrium.
-
As we find, the source or the cause of this arises from an infectious force from a germ or cold in the lung inflammation, and the activity of same arising from the liver or upper hepatic circulation.
-
Also there have been periods when the unbalanced diet caused the production, through the glandular assimilating force, of a destructive force in the lymph circulation.
-
These combined then, as we find, are the conditions to be dealt with.
-
The conditions are such, as we find, that these added to that which is being administered would be the most helpful for the body.
-
The condition is such that it is necessary to have an attending physician constantly to watch the heart’s activity, as well as the eliminations and the general reactions from the toxic forces from that produced by this unbalanced condition.
-
To be sure, there are those injections and those internal activities that are helpful, in such conditions, but if these are added as we will suggest they will be much more effective.
-
Take internally once a day a level teaspoonful of Ventriculin WITHOUT the Iron.
-
At least once a day, or twice a day, take internally one-eighth of a grain of the Animated Ash. This will release oxygen, if there is given following same - rather than electrical forces - the gentle radiation from the hand treatments; that is:
-
About three to five minutes after the eighth grain of Animated Ash is taken, hold the hands in these positions for twenty to thirty minutes:
-
The left hand would be placed under that portion of the cerebrospinal system just below the shoulder blades; not across the shoulder blades but under same - with the left hand (this the negative, you see), sitting on the right side of the body. The other hand, the right hand, would be placed over the liver and the gall duct area. Hold the hands gently in these positions for twenty to thirty minutes each day after taking the Ash. These treatments with the hands would be given preferably by the mother. These are not massages, you see, but gently hold the hands in these positions. A little trembling sensation, or an occasional rubbing of the hands together will produce the radiation. It will take strength from the one applying the treatments (the mother), but it will add to that which is so much needed for this body. The radiation from the hands will act with the Animated Ash, as well as being helpful in keeping or maintaining the near normal circulatory forces or activity of the heart that is so distressing, and that requires so much quiet for the body.
-
In the foods, these are very good; but sips of beef juice will be more strengthening, but do not have any portions of fat in same when this is prepared. Not spoonsful. Half a teaspoonful given every hour is much better than a larger quantity or two spoonsful given once or twice a day. Giving same often gives strength.
-
These as we find offer the better, with that being applied.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) May we expect cooperation with Dr. Walter Adams in carrying out these suggestions? (A) This, to be sure, depends upon the individual, and upon those who would minister to the body.
-
(Q) Is she suffering also from hookworm, as the doctor says? (A) Not true hookworm; rather, as has been given, an unbalanced diet that allows for accumulations with - or becoming a sympathetic condition with - the congestion from which the infectious forces in the blood supply arose.
Hence the treatments as indicated.
- (Q) Just how is a streptococcus germ taken into a system? (A) Rather is it formed IN the system, than taken into same. It is the effect of outside forces as combined with elements that are inside forces of a body.
See, the blood circulation is made up of corpuscles, white and red - or two characters of the white and then the lymph circulation; which has been affected here by too much of starches at some times for the body, so as to form the characterization that affects the superficial or the lymph circulation in the epidermis of the body. Hence the appearance of the hookworm formations.
Then the cold congestion in the liver and the gall duct area combine to form within the assimilated forces that called strep. While there’s always some strep existent at all times in the system as a destructive force, it is the warring as exercised that makes for an activity. The condition began by the lack of the coagulation and the destroying of the white blood or the plasm that makes for those characters of hormones that produce the conditions that cause coagulation.
-
(Q) Did it begin from the pneumonia last winter? (A) This is, as indicated, a combination from those effects in the lung area or blood stream, or the respiratory system, AND a depletion in the supply to the digestive system from poor assimilation. It is a combination.
-
(Q) What is a good eliminant for her? (A) The better is Olive Oil, taken internally; and even an Olive Oil enema would be well for the body. Take internally rather often and in very small doses; then if the system belches same reduce the quantity. Whether it’s two or three hours apart, small doses are better. This doesn’t mean teaspoonsful, but half to a quarter teaspoonful - just enough to produce an activity through the glands in the mouth, the throat, the upper portion of the stomach and the activity of the system, so as to be assimilated with these secretions, produces the better condition. Take same two or three days at a time, then leave off for two or three days, then begin again.
-
(Q) What causes the nausea? (A) It is the natural reaction from the condition or congestion in the assimilating or gall duct area. Regurgitation to the duodenum and the lower portion or the pylorus portion of the stomach.
These treatments suggested may all be combined with that being administered; not necessary that they confuse, but well that these be given in the manner as indicated - as we find - for the best interests of the body; else we may have a disintegration or a localization that would leave the body - if it were to pass those crises periods - helpless in some parts.
-
(Q) How long before we may expect improvements? (A) If these applications are made as given, we may see a change in three days - for the better, or the other changes.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 5/20/37 The mother phoned Mrs. [413] that the child had just died, and they both remarked on the fact that the reading had said a change would come in three days. [They did not follow the reading.]
Background
Background
B1. 5/16/37 Mrs. [413] phoned for appointment; case was brought to her attention by her sister-in-law, Mrs. […].
B2. 5/17/37 Mrs. [413] said she understood the child’s grandmother was in charge and not in sympathy with changing treatment in any way from what Dr. Adams had advised; she, Mrs. [413], felt the reading wasn’t going to be followed. However, the mother had come for the reading and was desperate. She had been working in Washington but had to give up her job and come home on account of the child’s serious condition. These questions were prepared by Mrs. [413] and GD after talking with the mother, besides the questions which got asked in the reading: Is the doctor correct in his diagnosis of the streptococcus germ which he has been unable to locate in the blood, but which has apparently settled around the heart? If it is not a streptococcus germ, why does she have all the symptoms? Would these treatments conflict with anything the doctor is doing? What doctor in Norfolk would you suggest to cooperate in carrying out these suggestions? Should she continue taking the Prontylin, which the doctor has given to combat the germ? What effect does this have? Is the mother justified in feeling she is responsible in any way for the child’s condition, because she has had to work and be away from the child [Divorce pending]?
