Hebrew) This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 3rd day of June, 1937, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [1380] - new Associate Sponsored Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by: Dr. Saul B. Sells, Dr. Gardner Murphy and Dr. Lucien Warner, of the Department of Psychology, Columbia University, New York City. The verification of appointment was received this morning, with membership application and written request from Mr. [1380], but not opened until just before period of the Reading.

1. EC: Yes.

2. Now as we find, to give that as might be the more helpful to the body - understanding what has caused or produced the conditions that have become structural hindrances in the physical forces, and the manner in which the entity or soul might meet same - we would rather have the approach made from the angle of the experiences or sojourns of the entity in in the earth.

3. In meeting them physically in the present, there needs to be kept as near a normal reaction as possible through those forces where the activities are necessitated in keeping as near a normal balance as possible.

4. But for the soul or the mental and spiritual developments, these should be approached from that angle as indicated.

5. We would not suggest any alterations in those things that have been given, or the outlines that have been suggested for the better physical forces of this body, Mr. [1380].

1. What was meant in his Physical Reading thru this channel on June 3, 1937, by the structural hindrances physically the causes of which might be understood better with the approach made from the former appearances of the entity in the earth?

2. Just how may the entity or soul best meet these physical conditions in the present?

• Life Rdg. attempted Oct. 12, 1937: “Yes - yes - [1380] - Yes, yes - Not now - Not now - We are through.” At beginning when reaching birth date at 1910, said “Oh-o-o-uuu!” as in a voice of horror or dread. [See 1380-2.]

Dear Dr. Sells:-

It seems from the enclosed Physical Reading [1380-1] on Mr. [1380] (Case 3), or the attempt, that it would be best for him to have a Life Reading in order to understand thoroughly the causes of his condition and how to meet it from a mental and spiritual standpoint.

Hugh Lynn Cayce is in Washington, D.C., for a few days. Otherwise I am sure he would be writing you a letter to accompany this Case. If you wish to continue the experiment on this Case, I am sure that he (Hugh Lynn Cayce) can arrange to have a Life Reading sponsored for Mr. [1380] - provided Mr. [1380] also wishes to continue.

Do you have our literature pertaining to Life Readings? I think Dr. Warner has witnessed several such Readings and can give you an idea as to the information included in them

Dear Mr. Cayce,

I am terribly sorry that my airmail letter arrived too late [See HLC’s letter 6/2/37 under 1379-1]. The Monday date which you have considerably substituted for the one lost will be satisfactory. Mr. [1383] will be subject. He will be at Columbia University, Main Library, South Hall, located at 114th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue, New York, in the stacks, Tier 6, on Monday, June 7, from 11:30 to 12:30 A.M., Eastern Daylight Time (which is 10:30 to 11:30 E.S.T.).

In reply to the letter from Miss Davis, concerning the arrangement of a Life Reading for Mr. [1380], may I ask that you set a date for this purpose and please send any literature for this purpose which is available.

Dear Mr. Sells:

I have before me your letter of June 5, requesting the Life Reading for Mr. [1380]. Due to our preparations for a brief series of meetings which are held here at the Beach each year for our members during the latter part of June, it will be impossible to secure this reading until July 6, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m., E.S.T.

Under separate cover we are sending you some data on the Life Readings which we will be glad to have you read and pass on to Mr. [1380]. Regardless of what your personal beliefs may be on the subjects involved you will find this case of special interest if you will follow it through carefully. The Life Readings, as you will see, will outline certain past incarnations in the earth and discuss certain past experiences that constitute the cause of the present physical difficulties. We have run into similar cases before.

For this Life Reading it will not be necessary for us to know where he will be at the time, but it will be necessary to know the place of birth. As given on his blank it is New York. If possible kindly make this more specific.

On June 28, 29 and 30, we hold here at Virginia Beach an informal series of meetings reporting the work of our Association in studying and presenting the psychic work which my father has been doing for some thirty years. We would be very happy to have you or anyone there interested in this work be present for these meetings and look over our records.

I will appreciate it very much if you will let me have your comments on the [1383] and [1379].

We will be very glad to cooperate in any way possible in assisting the individuals to carry out the treatments as suggested. There are several doctors in New York who would be interested in following them up if you and the individuals in question are so inclined.

Day by day in the average readings we are able to observe many remarkable examples of clairvoyance. We do not seek such examples because our primary interest has been in helping others through these readings. The study has in the past been individual in point of view, but thousands of results furnish pretty good evidence.

As I previously advised you we are prepared to continue with these experiments for at least three more cases if you believe the study valuable.

This is to acknowledge your letter of June 17 and to thank you for sending the mimeographed booklet on Life Readings. The date you have set for Mr. [1380] is quite satisfactory, and we will follow the usual procedure without notifying you further, unless you wish a confirmatory letter preceding the reading, which we will gladly send.

I hope to be able to comments on the other two cases in the near future. At present I am quite upset over moving my home and have not yet unpacked all of my books and papers.

Dear Mr. Sells:

We are sorry that there was a bit of a tie up on the Life Reading for Mr. [1380]. We are prepared to go ahead with this reading now and with at least two or three more physical readings if you are interested in continuing the experiments.

Our summer Congress for our members interrupted our program and since that time my father’s vacation and a busy period have prevented taking the matter up with you.

We expect to be in New York in November and I hope that you will have the opportunity of observing a reading at first hand. Perhaps we can arrange to have another of the experimental readings during that period.

Other cases that you desire handled now should follow the same procedure as before. Air mail does not reach us as quickly as straight special delivery.
