This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 5th day of June, 1937, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [1382], through his neighbor, Miss [5313] - new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 11:10 to 11:20 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ohio. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes.

2. Now as we find, these are very serious conditions with this body, and there may only be palliatives.

3. For the advanced condition of the disturbing forces is such as to involve the vital organs; through not only the infectious forces but the breaking down fast in the bodily activities.

4. And the internal loss of blood, with the inability of the system to handle same - or for the coagulation to take place, makes it all the more serious in that the assimilations or digestive forces have gone back upon the body as it were.

5. As we find, there can be then only those things given that would keep the body quiet, those that would make for the better activities - and, to be sure - under the directions of the physician.

6. These properties may be helpful in causing a quieting in the stomach, and in enabling the body to assimilate somewhat; also in giving some relief for the body. We find that the life may be prolonged, if the agonies of its existence are lessened.

7. Add these ingredients IN THE ORDER NAMED:

Cinnamon Water…1 ounce, Limewater…1 ounce, 10% solution Iodide of Potassium…10 minims, 10% solution Bromide of Potassium…40 minims.

This combination a teaspoonful taken in about a tablespoonful of water an hour apart until four or five doses are taken, and then resting from same for several hours, should quiet the body, enabling it to retain foods.

8. Give the body only liquids or semi-liquids in the beginning: Beef Juice (made from the lean beef, no fats nor fatty portions in same), Liver Extract, Blancmange, Arrowroot or the like. Not soups - these carry too much greases. Vegetable juices may also be taken a little later, if those properties as indicated settle the stomach.

9. To take the Animated Ash will be helpful also to reduce those temperatures and to quiet the condition through the intestinal system. A quarter grain may be taken twice a day. Empty the powder on tongue and swallow; do not take in capsule.

10. Three to five minutes after taking each dose of the Ash, use the Ultra-Violet Ray (not the Carbon Light but the Mercury Quartz or the Cooper-Hewett (?) [Note given E.C.F. 5/8/73 by Don Button: Cooper-Hewett is (or was) the Company name of a Mercury Quartz type Ultra Violet Lamp] Light) over the lower portion of the spinal system - but at least thirty-eight to forty inches from the body. This will help produce coagulation if assimilation is set up.

11. These as we find offer the better conditions for the body, [1382].

12. Ready for questions.

13. (Q) What is condition of his right hip? (A) This, as has been indicated, is bleeding somewhat internally - which makes a hard proposition.

14. (Q) What is the cause back of it? (A) Cancer!

15. (Q) What is condition of left side and bowels? (A) As has been indicated.

16. Do these things, as we find for the better.

Dear Miss [5313]:

We are sending Mr. [1382]‘s Reading to you Special Delivery, as we feel under the circumstances - due to the seriousness of the condition - you will know better how to handle the situation; and it might not be well for the Reading to be opened or read by those of the household - considering that they probably are pinning great hopes on the information.

I do trust, though, that you can apply the things suggested to relieve him. We are having sent also to you, C.O.D., 25 capsules of the Animated Ash (I think $1 worth) by the Health Home Remedies Corporation of Norfolk, as you would not be able to get that in … However, I don’t think you’ll have any trouble getting the Cinnamon Water compound filled by your local druggist.

This is a sad job to put upon you, but I’m sure you’d wish us to send the information to you direct - under the circumstances.

It is indeed saddening to us all to witness such a Reading - we have so few like that; but I have come to believe truly that for every ill there is a way of escape - so I am sure Mr. [1382] still has his work to do, whether on this plane or the next. God doeth all things well.

P.S. If you can get the suggestions followed, be sure to have the proper Ultra-Violet Light - the Mercury Quartz (called Cooper-Hewett - I don’t know how it’s spelled). This is very important.

R2. 6/7/37 EC’s letter to [1382]‘s wife:

Dear Mrs. […] [wife of [1382]]:

Wish the information as was gotten could have been more optimistic, but do hope that Mr. [1382] will respond to that suggested, and will get a whole lot better soon. Know we will be glad to help at any time, please let us hear how he gets, and if we can be of a service in any way just let us know.

And may the Grace of a loving Father keep you and make you strong in every way. For we are persuaded he does not allow us to be tempted above that we are able to bear, and we may do all things in the power of the Christ. While every thing may be heavy, and it is hard to see our loved ones suffer, and at time we wonder if God loves us why do we suffer so? But we know he is just, and even the Christ “Learned obedience through the things which h e suffered.” The servant is not greater than the Master.

R3. 6/10/37 Miss [5313]‘s letter:

There was nothing else for me to do, but to give Mr. [1382]‘s reading to him, as he was waiting for it all day, even if it contained bad news they wanted to see it. I could not withhold it from them. They started the treatments at once, rented a lamp from Dayton. Since taking the Cinnamon Water compound and the Ash he has been able to take a little nourishment. I have made ice cream and sent it over and he has even eaten that. For about two weeks he kept nothing on his stomach he just ate ice. I was glad you sent the Ash to me, it was of no inconvenience. Mr. […] has to take Mr. [1382]‘s place at the office, and they only have a young girl in charge, so I was glad to help. I have known of two cases here in … with the same disease, both were healed by faith, but Mr. [1382] does not seem interested it is hard to reach him. It was some time ago that I spoke to him about you and your work, and I thought they were not interested, so I was very much surprised when they sent for me to make application for a reading. I realized it was rather late, for the Doctors gave him no hope, but he wanted it any way. I, myself, think nothing is impossible if you have faith enough.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

My neighbor who is very ill just sent for me this morning to ask me if I would write to you and ask for a reading for him just as soon as possible. The doctors have given him no hope and he believes there is surely some one to help him for he wants to live. He has been ill for some time, has had an operation on his right hip, part of the bone is gone. He is unable to take any nourishment at present, he just uses ice, cannot keep anything on his stomach. He has pain in his left side and bowels. They say it is a cancerous condition. Have you had similar cases and will you be willing to try this one? He is now anxious to try you.

I was unable to give them the prices of a reading as [brother [1323]] has never mentioned it to us as he said he would take care of it. I did however tell them that I thought you charged $25.00 some years ago, but I did not have any idea now what the fee would be. Will you please give it to them in your letter.

If there would be any unusual prescription for them would you make it up to save them time and trouble? You do this at your hospital do you not?

I would like for you to send them also that little book of affirmations like you sent us [Published by the ARE Prayer Group, 6/36]. I am trying to interest him in Divine healing and I thought that such a lovely book of thoughts.

I would like to see something done for this man, he is just forty-two years of age and has a lovely family, one son and two small daughters. He is home all the time so you can set the reading to suit yourself.

The questions he would like to ask are about his right hip, whether he will be able to walk again, and about his left side and bowels. Also about his eating and condition of his stomach. If you could give him an idea of how long it would take to get well I think it would help him, also the cause back of all this.
