B. Bracey - through Mr. Edgar Cayce”s sister, Mrs. W. A. McPherson, of Nashville, Tenn.

Time of Reading R.F.D. #1, 11:00 to 11:20 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Tennessee. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [1400].
-
Now, as we find, there are disturbing conditions that produce such reactions as to bring great distress to the body, as well as keeping activities such as to prevent the functioning of the body in a complete way or manner.
-
These conditions as we find are somewhat of a complication. While these have been called migraine, this as we find is not the perfect description of the character of distresses as would be indicated by the name.
-
Then, these as we find are the conditions which prevent the normal forces - and how these may be corrected in the present; first:
-
IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, there are the indications of the inflammation or pressure that is from a dis-eased nervous system; or those centers from and through which there is the coordination between the cerebrospinal and the sympathetic nerve centers or systems. These are the centers from which the radial activity arises that produces these intolerable headaches at times; headaches at base of brain, top of head, through the sides of the head. These vary just a bit according to the condition or the pressure or the reaction that brings about the arising or the arousing of the nervous system to the reaction.
-
This as indicated in the blood stream also prevents bodily functions in some directions, making for a strain upon the organs as related to the abilities of the body to build reserve energies.
-
Hence the taxation that makes for the body so easily tiring.
-
These conditions, as we find, arose from that of cold or congestion, or a neuralgic reaction to the nerve system from cold - or flu; thus involving the glandular system which must be taken into consideration in bringing help or relief, as well as to remove the pressures and build up the general reactions.
-
For excitement, cold, overtiring, the regular menstrual period of elimination or reaction, all of these have their bearing upon the condition; and from one or the other or all of these sources does the condition at times arise.
-
THE EFFECT OF THESE UPON THE NERVOUS SYSTEM, we find, as has been indicated, it is that condition or those centers through which the cerebrospinal and the vegetative or sympathetic systems coordinate.
-
Hence we find at the 2nd and 3rd cervical, the 1st and 2nd dorsal, throughout the lumbar area, in the coccyx end of the spine, specific centers that will be found under the various stresses to be quite sensitive to the conditions that exist.
-
As these in their various forms react, there is at times the nausea accompanying these - owing to those inabilities of assimilation, through the activity of the glandular forces refusing to secrete properly for the carrying on of the functionings of same.
-
If there will be the consistent and persistent applications, we find that these may be relieved and gradually the causes eliminated - until these reactions or these headaches would get farther and farther apart.
-
Not that these will be eliminated or relieved immediately, for these are physical conditions and must be met in a physical way. But remember, the mental and spiritual attitude will have, does have, much to do with creating the proper atmosphere as well as the physical and mental condition for the activity of the applications that may bring near normalcy for the body.
-
THESE, THEN, ARE THE MANNERS IN WHICH WE WOULD BEGIN:
-
After thirty to sixty days we would change, or we would give further instructions - and it depends upon how the body reacts as to what changes would be necessary at that period.
-
Begin, though, with these:
-
First, as there is the indication of the glandular system, we would take that which will cleanse same or produce a reaction.
-
Hence we would begin with Atomidine; one minim in half a glass of water before the morning meal each day for three days; then take two minims for three days; then take three minims for three days. Then leave off for three days. And begin then with the one minim again, and so on.
-
Then, after this has been repeated, begin with the applications of the Radio-Active Appliance once or twice a day, to help the body at rest and to make for rest. If taken only once a day, take it just before retiring of evening. If there are periods when the severe headaches arise, or the tiredness - tiredness in the eyes, in the limbs, in the lower portion of the abdominal area - take it thirty minutes twice a day. But if taken once in the evening, attach for one hour. These applications would only be begun, you see, after the series or the two periods of taking the Atomidine in the manner indicated.
-
Also begin with osteopathic manipulations - NOT chiropractic but OSTEOPATHIC manipulations! And these should be very specific, but very gently given; that is:
-
Of course, begin with the relaxing of the body at the upper cervical area, then relaxing in the upper dorsal area, then the lumbar and the coccyx area. This should be done gently in a circular motion.
-
But DO NOT make ADJUSTMENTS until there has been sufficient relaxation by the manipulations; following a period of at least two to three weeks before attempting to make those adjustments in the lumbar, the sacral, the central dorsal, the upper dorsal and cervical. All need the segmentation to be released so that the activities of the glandular system, as will be aroused by the use of the properties indicated (the Atomidine) AND by the vibratory forces of the body (through the Radio-Active Appliance), will stimulate the circulation along the nerve system with these applications to make for bettered conditions.
-
In the diet: DO NOT have too much starches. Never white bread and potatoes at the same meal, nor cheese nor spaghetti nor macaroni at the same meal with white bread or potatoes; but these may be taken in their proper relationships.
-
No hog meat at all, save a little crisp breakfast bacon. Use rather lamb, fowl or fish as the meats.
-
Do not overload the stomach when there is the regurgitation from nervous reaction, or the sick stomach. At such times we would settle same first by using an emetic - with a little mustard water.
-
Then afterwards - after using such an emetic - we would use a compound prepared in this manner:
Limewater…1/2 ounce, Cinnamon Water…1/2 ounce, 10% solution Iodide of Potassium…5 minims, 10% solution Bromide of Potassium…20 minims.
Do not keep this too long. Over thirty days it will disintegrate and not be helpful. The dose would be - to settle the stomach, you see; only taken when there has been the necessity of emptying the stomach - a teaspoonful in half a glass of water.
-
Do this, and after sixty - thirty to sixty days, we would give further instructions.
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 7/9/37 Miss [1457]‘s letter:
NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I hasten to acknowledge Reading which you gave on the 7th for my sister-in-law, Mrs. [1400].
There are not words to express my appreciation of your wonderful work, because she could not have told you as well how she feels. I somehow sensed something of this condition, but of course had no way of expressing it, although felt that you could tell us the cause and cure. One thing makes the treatment most difficult and that she lives sixty five miles from Nashville, which is the nearest to an osteopath and they have no electric power or ice to use, but have a very wonderfully cold spring. Am interested to know if you think 60 degrees would be cold enough for the instrument recommended - the Radio-Active Appliance.
Again I wish to express my appreciation for what you have done through the Master. I shall write you again as soon as I see my sister-in-law next week. Am writing her today, but must see her to explain much of it.
With kindest regards, I am,
Sincerely, [1457]
R2. 7/12/37 EC’s ltr. to Miss [1457]:
Dear Miss [1457]
Have yours of the 9th. Thank you very much for same. Wish might tell you that the cold water would do with the appliance, but it will NOT do! It is necessary to have Ice when one uses it. The action of the Ice upon the metals in the appliance causes it to work, therefore, is very necessary. But do hope it will be possible for you to arrange so she can get the advantage of the suggestions.
All the praise Miss [1457] to our loving Heavenly Father. I know of myself I can do nothing. Information comes to those that seek and I believe the BOOK when it says “seek and ye shall find” and that means any of us, for it says: “Whosoever will may drink of the river of life” that too, means us. But we must just as sincerely carry out the suggestions given.
Thank you and do let us hear from you, and can we be of help in any way in your Sister-in-law getting the treatments, we are glad to do so.
With all good wishes
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce
R3. 10/11/37 Miss [1457]‘s letter, requesting a Physical Rdg. appointment for herself: “Sorry to report that my sister-in-law [Mrs. [1400]] is no better, but she has been unable to comply with your directions, on account of the inaccessability to treatment, etc. I hope to do more for her now that the weather is cooler and it distresses me that she could not be relieved sooner.”

Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
Your letter of the 8th arrived duly and I have also received your literature.
My friend, Mrs. J. B. Bracey, told me of your wonderful work. She has talked to your sister here, who gave her information regarding your fee, etc. I shall avail myself of the pleasure of talking to your sister just as soon as I have the opportunity.
In the meantime, I wish you to give a Reading for my sister-in-law, who is Mrs. [1400], …, Tenn., Route 1. I have had various doctors endeavor to locate the cause of her trouble without success and it would be a very wonderful help to know what to do for her. She lives on a farm and has entirely too much to do, but help is impossible to get. I was at home yesterday and we set the date for your Reading on June 23rd, which I hope will be satisfactory with you. Am enclosing application filled out by her.
Am also enclosing my check for $10.00, which Mrs. Bracey says is the correct amount.
I would thank you to send your report to me instead of to Mrs. [1400] then I will forward it to her. I have to supervise any treatment that is necessary, on account of her lack of experience in doing many things. I shall await with eager anticipation further information from you and may wish another reading soon for another member of my family.
Thanking you in advance, I am,
Sincerely, [1457]

Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I appreciate your letter of June 24th, stating that you can give the morning of July 7th for a Reading to my sister-in-law, [1400], …, Tenn., RFD #1.
I am enclosing my check for $20.00 in payment for this Reading and monthly Bulletin of the Association for one year.
[1400] has requested me to write you, as she and I have read your instructions and booklets as well as your letters and she understands the requirements, but prefers that I do the the writing for her. She will co-operate with you on the morning of July 7th, as requested, and is most anxious to do anything that might be helpful in locating her illness base.
She has severe headaches each day, starting around eight or nine o’clock each morning and lasting until afternoon. It begins by a severe burning in the neck in back and extending up into the head. Shortly after this burning the pain begins in the back of head and neck and extending up over the head. She is unable to do her housework when most severe. This, of course, causes a very nervous condition. She is very thin, but has always been thin. Her posture is rather stooped, probably on account of these pains. She has had these headaches for several years, but during the last year they have become much more severe.
I trust you will be able to assist us in our search for the cause of her illness, as several doctors have failed to locate it. She is a sweet person and very patient. I shall await your further expression.
Sincerely, [1457]
B3. 6/29/37 See Par. B1, B2 above asking for cause of daily severe headaches for several years which doctors have been unable to locate.
