& Numerology, Christian Background) This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of July, 1938, in accordance with request made by Hugh Lynn Cayce, Manager of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Hugh Lynn Cayce.]

Time of Reading 4:00 to 4:20 P. M. Eastern Standard Time.

  1. GC: You will have before you the work of the Ass’n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., in studying and presenting the psychic work of Edgar Cayce. You will consider at this time the cooperative suggestion presented by [1402], …, N.Y., that material from the readings be presented in her personal Calendar booklets on Numerology (copy in hand). You will advise us at this time as to just what material should be prepared for Miss [1402] to use in this connection and answer the questions which will be asked regarding these booklets.

  2. EC: Yes, we have the work of the Association for Research and Enlightenment, with its ideals and its purposes; also the work Miss [1402] presents in the personal booklets on numbers or numerology.

  3. It has been so oft indicated, in the policies and the ideals of the Association, not to seek differences but rather the conditions, places and manners in which there may be a unification.

  4. As we find, some of the philosophy might be presented in such a booklet or pamphlet in that as a preface or addenda - in this manner:

  5. While a great deal has been and is written or presented for various reasons on the subjects of psychic phenomena, numerology, astrology and kindred subjects, these each have their place in the experience of the human activity if the approach is made from a spiritual angle - and not from that point where the individual may seek, through personal knowledge of these, as to days or weeks or years or numbers, to take advantage of his fellow man.

  6. Each phase of the experience should be taken and applied in a prayerful, a sincere manner; and not accrediting the influence from the numbers, the stars or any omen in itself, but the AUTHOR; giving the credit to the author of ALL of these things!

  7. Thus we find that what is presented or obtained in any individual experience, in the application of those warnings or those advantages that may be had in relationships to experiences and individuals, may be made a much more beautiful, a much more hopeful thing.

  8. And only such information that has been presented from time to time through this channel should be presented; that all of these phases - whether the astrological, the numerological, stones, colors, days or seasons - are but signposts along the way; and may be better applied in the experience of the individual who approaches same from a spiritual angle - not spiritualistic, nor spiritualism, but SPIRITUALITY; LIVING that, “As ye would that thy brother should do to you, do ye even so to him.”

  9. THEN the days, the numbers, the astrological aspects, the numerological phases of the days and the months become as assurance of His thought of thee in thy daily activity.

  10. And without same, it becomes more of a stumbling-stone than a stepping-stone to better living.

  11. Because there have been and are many who use such phases of human experience or endeavor for only the material gains does not mean that these cannot be applied in a constructive manner. But it may NOT be done to the BEST advantage UNLESS the individual day by day lives an exemplary life, one in which there are no questions asked of thy own conscience as to whether or not ye walk with that of thyself that ye would present before thy Maker at the day of judgement!

  12. Ready for questions.

  13. (Q) Would it be wise to collect all the material we have along these lines for Miss [1402] to assemble, to use in her Calendar booklet? (A) It would be well.

  14. (Q) Should any radical changes be made in her Calendars for 1939? (A) This depends upon whether or not such a suggestion that has been offered is to become a part of the whole activity or not. This would require, as has been indicated for Miss [1402], the looking for the hopeful aspects more than those that are DIRE! Not that warnings are not to be given, but let each soul know there IS a hope in Him!

  15. (Q) How much, if any, astrology should be included? (A) Only as it, astrology, coincides or coordinates; and, as indicated, that each of these phases have their influence, or their place.

  16. (Q) What is the most effective way to allude to the work of Edgar Cayce? (A) Only in the manner indicated.

  17. (Q) Would the name be used at all? (A) NO!

  18. (Q) Regarding including astrological suggestions, please give more specific suggestions. (A) Only that this is not to be an astrological record, nor an astrological survey for an individual’s experience, IF it is a numerological essay or booklet!

Hence only the reference to astrological aspects AS they may coordinate or coincide with the numerological.

There are many surveys already made of good astrological aspects for DAILY calendars that will apply for the next twenty-five years! If it is desired that these be a part of same, then they may be used!

  1. (Q) Should Miss [1402] keep the same publisher she now has or deal with Delacourt? (A) As we find, a better proposition may be had with Delacourt. But if there is the attempt to take it AWAY, and to make it purely mercenary - keep the same one!

  2. (Q) If Miss [1402] gets an opportunity to do radio work this Fall should she accept it in the hope of more extended usefulness? (A) She’ll have the opportunity! Use it! USE it!

  3. (Q) At a later date, will you give Miss [1402] some information on world prognostications? (A) When you can do something about it, we will give it to you!

  4. (Q) How may she prepare herself to do something about it? (A) There is little that Miss [1402] may do about it, save as to give it to those who are in the position to - and not broadcast!

  5. (Q) Would it be wise for her to have a reading to give to those who may use such information? (A) She’s taking a great deal of responsibility, of course. If she is willing to drink of the cup that is required for such, it is very well.

  6. We are through for the present.
