This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, this 19th day of July, 1937, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [1412], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., sponsored by Mr. [257], husband of her niece, Mrs. [903].
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 10:45 to 10:55 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ill. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [1412].
-
Now as we find, the disturbing conditions are rather a combination of the mental disturbance through worry, anxiety, and the emotional nature, with the changes that are coming about in the physical forces of the body.
-
There are, as we find, pressures upon the lower axis, or the 4th lumbar and the coccyx area, which - combined with the anxieties - produce a high tension in the nervous system; making for pressures or headaches in the back and in the top of the head and the organs of the sensory forces through the pressures upon the lower portions in the 9th dorsal center of the cerebrospinal system as combined with those in the lumbar area, cause the inclinations for dry throat, for anxiety that becomes such that the blames of everything come not only upon self but on all those about same.
-
This also as we find produces those tendencies for the limbs to give a great deal of disturbance and weakness in same; upsetting the digestion; swelling in the feet and the like.
-
These as we find then may be removed primarily by removing first the pressures in the coccyx and lumbar area, coordinating the 9th dorsal and the brachial centers and the upper cervical with same; and then by the body changing those attitudes through the activity upon the nervous system by activities in such directions as to become more and more constructive.
-
We would have these pressures removed chiropractically. Hence we would suggest, then, Saxmann - for activities in these directions.
-
In the matter of the diet, we would keep rather to those things that are the less of the starches and more of the alkalines; or such a diet as may be outlined by the one - or those - giving the corrective measures chiropractically. These we find will be most beneficial.
-
After such corrective measures have been taken for two weeks, we would begin with small doses - very small doses - of the Tonicine; a quarter teaspoonful before the morning meal, in a little water. This is as a tonic and as a stimulant, and as a corrective force for irritation produced through the system by the treatments. Keep this up each day for five days, leave off for ten days, then take again for five days. This should be sufficient of this to make for the periods of reaction necessary in the system.
-
These as we find should within three to six weeks make an entirely different activity in the physical forces of this body. Hence these we would do.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What causes pain when nose is blown? (A) As has been indicated, pressures upon the axis of the cerebrospinal system, in the lumbar area - and subluxations in the coccyx area.
-
(Q) What causes three pimples on breast? (A) Poor eliminations; and when corrections are made, in coordinating those activities through the upper dorsal or brachial and the cervical area, we would find better eliminations and thus these disturbances relieved.
-
(Q) What should be done for swelling of ankles? (A) Make the correction of those conditions as indicated, that have caused or produced same.
-
(Q) Advise how she can help her present condition to better their living conditions? (A) These necessarily need, as has been given, a more CONSTRUCTIVE and SPIRITUAL outlook.
Do these.
- We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 7/22/37 Letter, giving her age as 55: “I am in receipt of your letter and copy of reading this morning, and I wish to add a few more questions to the ones sent in by Mr. [257]. Maybe they will make it clearer to you to make more complete analysis. You are right in your diagnosis that I am very emotional, highly nervous thru worry and sorrow, also financial trouble. I wish to state that 23 years ago, when I came to this country, I had a very severe attack of rheumatism and it took over a year before I could walk again. Upon the advice of my doctor, in France, I came to this country and I felt fine and was able to walk from 30 to 40 blocks. Last winter I had another severe attack of rheumatism. My right leg and right thigh first became brown, then pimples appeared and the heads of the pimples looked yellowish but did not open and disappeared; they caused me great pain. A homeopathic doctor gave me some pills which were pretty good. I still walk quite a bit when the weather is not too hot. I am not yet altogether cured of it, for my spine bothers me a bit, very often. My husband gives me massage very well and it seems to help me much. I have no pain in the back of the head but on the right side on the top of the head, a sharp pain is caused when I snuff water up my nose, as I never have to blow it except when I have a cold. The principal things which worry me at the present time are my swollen ankles, especially evenings, my head, spine, and need of a tonic. Concerning dieting I have been doing this for quite a few years for on arrival in U.S. I weighed 175 lbs. and now 140 lbs., height 5 ft. I do not know whether or not you are informed that I am quite psychic myself. At present I am unable to go to see the Doctors Saxmann. Hoping to hear from you soon and with personal regards, I remain, [1412].”
R2. 7/26/37 EC wrote advising that she go to see Dr. Robert Saxmann, show him the reading, and let him treat her a while before asking for another reading, and then let him submit questions. “Am sure that will be the best way. Sincerely hope you will get started on the treatments soon for feel sure you will get a great relief.”

B1. 7/14/37 Mr. [257]‘s letter: “I am at [903]‘s aunt [1412]‘s home and she is very ill - I should have written you sooner, but she needs help very, very much, and I’ll appreciate your telling her the trouble. She is in great pain in her head, in her limbs and in her knee [See questions in 1412-1, Par. 11-A—14-A]… What is needed to build up strength? What diet should she follow? What will relieve swelling of ankles at night? Who will aid her to help her husband (Send me application to N.Y., please)? Judge, they are in bad, bad way - send me a copy and I’ll try to help them. They are both old, lovely people.”
