-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [1425].
-
Now, as we find, while conditions are very serious, these as we find with precautions - and yet specific activity - may be materially aided; and then, if there is the ability to arouse the desire for resistance and desire to live and fight back, we may restore the body to almost normal activity.
-
As we find, owing to the conditions of the pressures in the blood system, by activities through the poor eliminations, improper diet and overexertion, there has been a leakage or seepage from the deeper circulation.
-
This has not formed a clot upon the brain forces but is so in the circulatory forces as not only to produce a non-activity or reaction to the brain, owing to its place of pressure, but has produced an incoordination or non-activity of the nerves in the locomotories.
-
Hence we find those precautions as necessary.
-
First, we would paint the body along the area from the 2nd and 3rd cervical to the 6th dorsal, with a combination of three parts Laudanum to one part Aconite.
-
Then apply over the same area the hot Epsom Salts Packs, saturated solution. Make these of several folds of cloth so the heat will be maintained. This will relax the body. Keep these Packs on until they grow cold, which under the present stress would be at least forty-five minutes. Apply these about twice each day, you see.
-
Then once each day, preferably just after the application of the Epsom Salts Packs - when the body is relaxed by same, stimulate Osteopathically the areas indicated in the 9th dorsal and 4th lumbar plexus, with the general treatments for eliminations.
-
Almost daily we would use high enemas to remove the fecal forces and the pressures as produced through these areas. Let the water be body temperature, and a saline and soda solution; that is, put a level teaspoonful of baking soda and a heaping teaspoonful of table salt to half a gallon of water - and dissolve thoroughly before using. Keep these up until this pressure is removed and until there are proper reactions.
-
These suggestions we would keep up almost daily for several hours each day, until there is an arousing from these conditions.
-
And then keep the diet naturally of a liquid and semi-liquid nature. Not meats.
-
And then after ten days to two weeks, or in eight to ten days we will find the changes - and we would give further instructions.
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 9/21/37 Wife’s letter: “Have been corresponding with my brother Dr. […], and decided we would like another reading. Will give you a clearer condition of case than my brother could have done. Last December Mr. [1425] had a heart attack. Doctors said a stretched heart. Was ill 5 weeks. Went into business a week and then another attack. This time a blood clot in the spleen, and impacted bowel (didn’t move his bowels five days), and a “pleura” that was irritating the lung by rubbing over it, causing pain. All through this a rapid pulse and respiration. Mr. [1425] was in bed two months, the third month convalescing. Then into business again, but in a weak condition, but he is fighting to get in. Rested after business hours. Diet was careful, but I guess business too much. Then on August 10 had a severe stomach ache, passed away by next morning. August 12 another stomach ache, passed away, and then for past previous week had a severe pain in right shoulder, which was intense the night of August 12, and next morning August 13 collapsed as he was getting out of bed. The doctors couldn’t say exactly what the outcome would be, said it was a shock. For two weeks he had no control over movements and speech, but gradually cleared, was able to move his affected right side, and also get to bathroom ‘next door’, and walk around bed twice a day. All this time heart acting very good. Then yesterday morning something again. Heart, pulse and respiration for past day very rapid. Doctor prescribed digitalis for heart every four hours. His bowels are kept open by giving him a tablespoon of milk of magnesia once a day now. Up until three days ago he had been getting two tablespoons. I hope I have made myself clear. Am writing this in haste so pardon incoherence, and bad spelling.”
