This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 22nd day of February, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Dr. [1449], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Born October 4, 1903, in Utica, New York. Time of Reading 4:05 to 4:30 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, New York.

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as Dr. [1449].

3. In analyzing the records, as we find them here, there is much from which to choose. These we would choose, then, with the desire and purpose that this information may be a helpful experience for the entity; enabling the entity to meet itself, as well as those problems that exist in its present experience.

4. The entity and its associate or companion should realize that there are obligations and duties that each one owes to those for whom they have been responsible, for the development and training of lives, of life itself and the part it has to play in contributing to the better welfare of those minds and bodies.

5. Then, though there may be conditions not conducive to the better fulfilling of personal desires, these should be foregone in the face of obligations to others.

6. And, as has been given, the law of the Lord is perfect. Ye cannot escape thy responsibility, and ye cannot make peace with others until ye find peace within thine own consciousness.

7. These, then, should be the manners in which judgements should be drawn.

8. Each should study and know that this union of activity has been and is chosen by self. Then remain true to the promises, to the obligations, and be not in self overcome with those things which if embraced will cause continual stumblings in thy experience through the earth at this time.

9. Then, so live within thine own self that the consciousness of self replies back. Not that you’ve got advantage of the other fellow, not that you would become pessimistic, but rather: “Lord, here am I. Use me. Let my life, my purposes in same, through the power in those influences with which I have worshiped and do worship, bring that ability in me; to choose to do that which is right at all times, irrespective of the cost or expense to myself - mentally or materially.”

10. For indeed it is true that the flesh is often weak, yet the spirit is willing.

11. Then with what spirit shall ye approach such? As seen in the vision of self, there is the body, the mind, the soul. Treat each in the same way that ye may be approved unto God, a workman in His vineyard; not as one that would be worked with or for, but showing thyself approved, keeping self from the snares of the world.

12. The astrological influences are about to be dissipated, or there are to be entirely new aspects in regard to the body-forces, that will bring new environs, new possibilities, new outlets for better activities of the entity; as a teacher, as a lecturer, as one who may in its manner and mien emulate the character that is spoken of fictitiously in many places. For the entity was a close understudy or guard to that entity ye call Julius Caesar when in the name William Cowper.

13. The experiences of the entity then will be found to be a part of the present consciousness. Know that ye are divided into body, mind and soul. Yea, they work in and through each and every soul. Many are those associations and activities that bring fears and doubts. But if ye would find love, be lovely. If ye would find peace and harmony in the associations and activities, study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman not ashamed but dividing the words of truth; putting the emphasis upon those portions of same where and how it is needed.

14. Not all of the appearances in the earth are given, just those that are in keeping with the powers that may be manifested from on high.

15. For before this the entity was in the land of the present nativity. And when there are disturbances, let the entity turn within to find the answer - in the sipping of the cup as demonstrated in the manner in which the Master (as Joshua) prepared the leadership of a high-minded individual.

16. Before that the entity was in the land when there first began to be the establishing of exchanges with various lands. Thus the entity’s interest in the physical, and the abilities for the entity to become a great leader to the mechanical-minded in relationship to the physical body. Thus as the entity applies itself to the healing arts, more of the mechano-therapy should be stressed than medicines or connections in any way in that direction.

17. Before that the entity was in the Holy Land, among those who questioned the Master: “Whose wife shall she be, for they all had her?”

18. The entity should find the answer in self, for - as indicated - in the manner ye forgive, ye may be forgiven in the heavenly places.

19. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, that to which it may attain and how:

20. Analyze self. Don’t ever question self. For the abilities as they manifest are too much in that direction. The entity should appreciate and understand that God is mindful of thee and has work for thee to do. With the children of thine own household, yea with those associations in same, there may come harmony, truth, understanding - and they each may bring that which is as a complement one to the other, and not as of faultfinding.

21. Anyone can find fault. It is the wise person who finds that which encourages another in the turmoils and strifes of the day.

22. Then, show thyself approved unto God, a workman not ashamed, rightly dividing the words of truth and keeping self unspotted from the world.

23. Ready for questions.

24. (Q) What can I do to straighten out the difficulty and misunderstanding - (A) (Interrupting) Know that this is a fifty-fifty proposition. Offer to forgive. And forgive and forget. If there is no reconciliation - keep thy boys close to thee. They need thee, as indeed they need thy companion also.

25. (Q) Is it necessary to sell the home and live elsewhere? (A) Not unless forced to - don’t do it. Do make the reconciliation - it will be worthwhile.

26. (Q) Should I send any or all of the boys away, temporarily or permanently? (A) Keep thy boys close to thee. Confide in them, and be their confidant - daily, for the Lord requireth much of thee.

B2. 11/11/37 He sent this form letter to Mrs. [1100] and to other patients:

As a responsible world-citizen with wider INFLUENCE and greater POWER than you can possibly imagine, you are asked to do your bit toward the definite outlawing of war by:

1. Offering this prayer daily,

2. Sending a copy of the prayer and this request to a few friends of any race or creed, anywhere.

Are you willing to help in spreading this Universal Prayer, in order that JOY OF LIVING may not die, and that “your men may (yet) see visions, and your old men may (yet) dream dreams”?

Dear Mr. Cayce,

I know that sometimes you give emergency readings for persons in grave physical danger. It occurred to me you might find it possible to give a life reading or portion of one for one whose life threads seem to be hopelessly tangled.

If not possible to give me a full reading can you answer a question or two:

1. What can I [1449] do to straighten out the difficulty and misunderstandings with […] [my wife]? [GD’s note: Not the same name as the wife he had 10/4/37 at which time he had 3 sons.]

2. Is it necessary to sell the home and live elsewhere and if so would that do any good?

3. Should I send any or all of the boys away, temporarily or permanently?

4. I can be at Room …, … St., any week day between 9 and 6 that is convenient for you. You may wire me the hour and if I do not reply at once I will be there.
