This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 31st day of January, 1931, in accordance with request made by self - Rev. [1466].

1. EC: Yes, we have the entity and those relations with the universe and universal forces, that are latent and manifested in the entity known in the present as Reverend [1466].

2. In entering astrologically, we find varying effects upon the entity and its development - yet in the present the application of will as respecting its development has altered and changed those conditions in the experience of the entity, until - save as tendencies that are presented in the various phases of the entity’s experience - astrological influences would be or mean little. It may be said, the entity in the present has ruled or governed its influences rather than being influenced BY astrological sojourn.

3. In the conditions, then, that are developed - we find a development wholly in the present experience, NOT wholly in some other experiences.

4. The astrological influences are seen in Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, and Venus - so that the changes, even as respecting those influences - while these have brought troublesome periods, disappointments, discernment of individual positions, powers, and even of those influences in States, in those of groups and individual activity - yet the entity’s application to an ideal founded within self and self’s own entity or soul’s development has brought that of a contentment that is found seldom in INDIVIDUAL experiences. Not satisfied, no - for then the entity would begin to lose, were such the case - but being content and being satisfied are different conditions in a soul’s experience. One may be content that they may be guided by that of an ideal towards which the entity would make its soul or its peace one with an ideal. Satisfied in the labors given, or in the service rendered, is to become sterile and unfruitful in the activities one may go; for, as has oft been given, in the doing does the understanding come; for, as is the command, “Go forward” - not in that, that done in itself - for the Creative Forces, or God Himself, gives the increase.

5. In the astrological aspects, these have been rather as hindrances - especially in those of Mars, where madness or wrath at times has and does wield an influence, such as the entity would oft within self feel like (to put in common parlance) “kicking over the traces”; yet the activities of self within that as would be accomplished - will the entity take counsel in self for a moment, enter - as it were - within, and counsel with those forces that arise from the purposefulness - these show their fruits in the activities of the entity’s undertakings.

6. In those astrological influences in Jupiter and Uranus, these make for the entity’s abilities to enter in where there is contention, disorder, and those conditions that are out of array, out of alignment. These have EVER in the present had their influence in the experiences of the entity, so that - whether at home or abroad, whether among individuals, groups, classes or masses - the entity is able to hold that which makes for decisions, whether in the movement for good or bad, among those whom the entity contacts. Those whom the entity meets who find fault within the activities, counsels from within themselves may enable THEM - even - to see the vision that is experienced by the entity, for it moves on irrespective of what others may say or do. Oft when the entity has harkened to “What will people say?” these have brought the greater dissatisfaction within self and self’s experience, as to the outcome of the contemplated efforts of the entity - whether in that of the line or in that it builds upon, line upon line, precept upon precept. These, to the entity, are as signposts to self, as well as to others. Judge not, nor be in that position of being too quick with those who be weak in their undertakings. Rather give counsel, that they who - having a vision of the light that may be awakened within themselves - are not blinded by too quick a reaction, nor being shut up by not being able to go slow in activities until they have gained rather a sure footing, or the ability to keep in accord and in touch with that light gained.

7. In the appearances, and the effect these have upon the present influences:

8. In the one, then, before this we find in that land known as England, and during those periods when there were dissensions in the land, when the populace rose against those rulers. The entity was among those that were as the emissaries to awaken counsel in other lands, and was close in touch with that one who led in the rebellion - as it was called; but the entity - sure in the purposefulness of the cause that was taken by self and those of the associates - gained through the experiences in that period. In the name Scalland. The entity became one known later as a friend to an again united peoples in that period.

9. In the one before this we find in the period when there was the return of the children of promise to the Holy City, and the building up of same. The entity aided in the last of those who returned, especially aiding both in and among those who made the first and the second trip - but with Nehemiah the entity gained in the acts as with the king and with those who were later in power in the replenishing, rebuilding, of the walls; and to THESE the entity often refers to those labors that may be started, those that may be builded in the material things, as in the spiritual sides of men’s experiences, and in the present much of the determination to become as a messenger to many peoples was from those studies, especially, of a re-united people in a purposefulness in a promised land.

In the one before this we find in that land now known as the Egyptian, and during that period when there were the rebellions in the land over the disputes that arose from the various peoples who would build to an alter, to a purpose, to a home, to a school. The entity was then that one who laid line upon line, as the various forces of the peoples were put in execution, both as to temple and as to the laying out of many of those that became monuments in the land. The entity was then what may be termed in the present the surveyor to the king, to the counsellors, and aiding in the upbuilding of the schools that were established in the period. Many of the tenets that were gained came to the entity in the latter portion of the entity’s experiences as lessons in the CORRELATION of man’s relationship to Creative Energies, as well as man’s relationship to man. The broad scope or vision, or that which is oft termed in the present as being - not conciliatory to the other’s feelings, but - broad minded, giving the other HIS view to work out his OWN salvation in his own way.

In the one before this we find in that land now known as the desert or Mongoloid land, during those periods when the first peoples in the land gave an upbuilding of a civilization in that now known as the Gobi Desert. The entity was then among those emissaries to the various peoples that gathered in the various commissions, and was a leader and a counsellor during that period. The teachings of those people have ever been an interest to the entity, even as the offspring of those are close in an innate or soul manner to the entity in the present.

12. In the abilities of the entity and that to which it may attain in the present:

13. Well has the entity chosen in its call, in its profession. Keeping an ideal, and being content in service to many; brings that satisfaction that - in the end there may be that call, even as of old, “In little things thou hast done well. Be thou ruler over many”. Ready for questions.

14. (Q) During the appearance in England, what date was that revolution? (A) That during the beheading of Charles the First.

15. (Q) Associated with the friends known as the Quakers, what was that influence? (A) This the outgrowth of this period, as the portion came from these - see?

16. (Q) What about the prophecy that was made by Dr. Gross, that the entity would live to a hundred and ten years? (A) This depends a great deal upon the entity itself in the present experience. Overcoming - as has been outlined in the present experience - many of those things that beset the entity through the experiences, and to which the entity has been heir through the various stages of the development, makes for the ability to bring much in that of, “The days may be long upon the earth which the Lord thy God giveth thee”.

17. (Q) Are the judgements sure that the entity can make through introspection? (A) These, when in align and in accord with the IDEALS the entity has set, are true - and in that manner may all mankind, through the associations of the inner self with the Creative Forces, be able to receive that from within; for the kingdom is from within.

18. (Q) The entity desires to raise up a social center in connection with activities of the church. (A) These are well, and in keeping with “Go ye into all the world and GIVE that which has been committed unto thee, and Lo, I am with you, even unto the end of the world”; for, as has been given, had there been an established faith in the lessons that were taught by those that gathered together to make a body of the church a school that had its foundation in those tenets, a CHANGE would have been in the MAP of the world! Here, there may be established those forces that - as they go out, even in the entity’s endeavors - may ENLIGHTEN the whole world! KEEP that committed, knowing He is able to keep that asked against every condition.

Your Church is a company of people who confess their faith in, and loyalty to Jesus Christ, and unite in a covenant for the purposes of Christian growth, worship and service and observance of the Sacraments He has appointed.

Your Church is a school for Christian instruction. It was begun by Jesus, who was the world’s greatest religious teacher. Its text book is the world’s best book - the Bible.

Your Church is a spiritual power-house, distributing its energy through its members to redeem the world.

Your Church is engaged in a WORLD task. Its founder commissioned it “To go into all the world and preach His gospel, and make disciples of all nations.”

Your Church rightfully expects its members to contribute according to their ability of their time, money, talents, energy and thought to carry out the Divine Mission of its Master.

Your Church believes that public worship is a socially and spiritually constructive act, and urges its members to be habitual attendants at its regular services.

Your Church seeks to cultivate in the lives of its members private devotions through daily Scripture reading, prayer and meditation.

Your Church is a social body of a distinctive type. It welcomes all classes and conditions of people into its fellowship, regardless of race or color.

Your Church offers the largest opportunity for helpful human service, and the promotion of good-will and Christian Brotherhood which Christ came into the world to establish.

Your Church is commanded to proclaim the social teachings of Jesus, and its members are to be living examples of those teachings.

Your Church teaches that wealth, unearned and unshared is wrong. Christians should acquire money in ways that do not harm, but positively help their fellows.

Your Church is a conserver of the moral and spiritual values of the past, the creator of the ideals of the present, and the inspirer of the future.

THESE THINGS HAS HE TAUGHT US

If you can toil, and strive, and labor, While those about you drift their hapless way; If you can forego every easy, worldly pleasure, And wrest the most from every working day; If you can delve in human sorrow With loving care and heart that’s pure; If you can smile on each Tomorrow, And plan a Work that must endure;

If you, with patience, burn a midnight oil, While others gladly sleep the darkness through; If you can face the task, and not recoil, While others gladly leave the work for you; If you can give your time in student’s thoughts, And make the Book your constant friend; If you can learn the rules the Master taught; Let wisdom with your learning blend;

If, in the wailing Courtroom of each darkened day, Your labors may be fruitful at the Bar; If you, with tranquil mind, can say, “I have defended Justice well, thus far;” If you can weave upon the Loom of Learning A Pattern filled with Service and with Care; If you can soften Work with Yearning, And bless that Work with daily prayer;

If, with Justice, you can pour the kindness Of a soul that wells with Love; If you can lose the mundane color-blindness, And see the Golden Rule of God Above; If you can cherish Right, from evil flee, As a mighty Nation’s people asks of you; You’ll be a Man, as they would have you be, And more: - a Christian, too!

There was a man with us who was our friend and he, more than any other we have ever known, fulfilled every intendment of the poem above.

In Rev. [1466] there was that blending of kindliness and understanding which made his work coruscant with goodly achievement.

He labored long, and builded well. It is not needful to tell of his energies and the happy results attendant upon them; it is not needful to adorn the entablatures of such a Monument of Service as he has fashioned. It is a Monument which all may gaze upon with grateful pleasure.

Rev. [1466] was our Counsellor and our Friend.

It is not easy to say “Goodbye.”

But we remember with humble comprehension the teachings of a Faith which he would have us know that -

“All is well, safely rest, God is night.”
