This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 8th day of January, 1938, in accordance with request made by the friend - Miss [350], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., sponsored by the Douglas T. Johnston fund of the Association.

Time of Reading 3:25 to 3:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1478]; this we have had before.

2. As we find, while many conditions are greatly improved from that we have had here before, there is not sufficient of the poisons eliminated from the superficial circulation to allow for the use of the functionings of the system as the superficial and deeper circulation coordinate.

3. Thus we still have the conditions of tautness in extremities, in throat, in the abilities for the activities of the speech and the like.

4. If there will be - with the rest - the use consistently of the Vapor Baths and rubs as were indicated, with the properties indicated - the iodines, so that with the rubs following same there may be an activity from the system of the poisons and a coordination produced or established between the eliminations of the perspiratory system and the alimentary canal, by keeping the colon active as has been indicated, - we will bring much nearer normal conditions for this body.

5. DO that, as has been indicated.

6. Ready for questions.

7. (Q) Should all other treatments as given at first be continued? (A) Those that are necessary for keeping the body quiet, as well as for eliminations throughout alimentary canal.

But set up, through the use of the rubs and fumes as given, a better elimination through the perspiratory system.

Of course, massage the throat, the neck, and all along the cerebrospinal system with the oils as indicated for the body-rub.

Do that.

8. (Q) How often should the vapor baths be given now? (A) They haven’t been given at all in the MANNER as has been indicated!

These as we find, if they are taken about every third or fourth day, until the eliminations are set up, will show improvements very much more rapidly.

Do that.

R1. 1/16/38 Miss [350]‘s letter to HLC:

My dear Hugh Lynne:

Many thanks for the reading [1478-2] of January 8th received on the 11th or 12th. Just at present the nurse who could carry out your suggestions is laid up herself. But I shall pass the letter on to her when she returns to the case. The patient is being massaged once or twice a day regularly, but there has been no possibility of vapor baths. There may be, however, when she returns to the case. Thanks a thousand times for your generous aid. The patient’s diet has consistently now for some weeks been supplied with the iodine content and other chemical elements necessary to the system, in the Bio-foods I mentioned to you and her nourishment has been a great support to the case. She has been taken to a friend’s home in Massachusetts now, so I shall not be in personal contact with the case, but will keep in touch through her nurse/her friends. The muscular tautness in throat & difficulty in speech remain, as your reading indicates.

R2. 3/7/43 Miss [350]‘s letter to HLC enclosing her review of THERE IS A RIVER, which he had asked her to do:

I will append a list of addresses for review purposes as you request.

I wish also to have a reading for a lady in New York, for whom you read in November (16th) 1937 [1478-1]. At the time the nurse did what she could to follow instructions, but the Doctor was a German refugee - materialist, and could not even be drawn into the picture. The patient is improving now and has a sympathetic doctor, so she would like Mr. Cayce to try again if he will be so good - and I know he will. She lives at … St., New York, Apartment 7P - Mrs. [1478] at present she has no funds to spare, but I hope she will be able at a later time to send a donation to the Association. I told her I would make the appeal anyway. She has seen the book and is much interested and cooperative.
