This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 12th day of February, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [1512], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., through Mrs. R. F. Cooney.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 4:05 to 4:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Alabama. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1512]; this we have had before as Mrs. [1512]. [GD’s note: With her 1st reading [1512-1] we only had husband’s initials, not her given name.]
-
Conditions show improvement, but because of the very nature of those influences that produce infection and the arthritic reaction, it is necessary that there be the continuation to at least the full periods of those applications that have been indicated for the body.
-
Where there are specific disturbances, as in knees or at times in hands and elbows or in feet, apply a saturated solution of Epsom Salts; this to be repeated for several hours at the time, changing about every thirty to sixty minutes, or when the Pack becomes cold. This should be with very heavy packs; that is, the cloths that are dipped into the solution and wrapped about the members that are in distress; such as very thick, heavy toweling or the like; not thin cloth but heavy cloth.
-
And it will be well that the Atomidine be rubbed over these areas BEFORE the Packs are applied.
-
The rest of the vibrations from the Gold, and the adjustments, should be kept up.
-
In the diet, keep rather close to the suggestions made as to those things of which the body should beware; and take more of the things indicated as well for the body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Am so stiff in knees - is there anything else we can do to hasten the limbering up? (A) As indicated, use Packs on these - several hours at the time when the stiffness occurs, or when the irritation is the greatest.
-
(Q) Will I ever be entirely well and will I always limp when walking? (A) This depends upon the persistency and consistency with which there is the use of those things indicated that will eliminate the disturbance from the system.
Of course, this is a very insidious condition, and it is easily returned to the body with exposure, overeating, overindulgence, overactivity or any of those things that tend to make for creating of the greater amount of poisons in the system than would be eliminated through a coordinating of the eliminating system.
-
(Q) May I eat strawberries and tomatos? (A) These should be very little, not large quantities of these. A little would be very well, but not very much - and these occasionally.
-
(Q) Is it best for me to have any sweets? (A) Any sweets would be only honey WITH the honeycomb.
-
(Q) After completing the treatment as prescribed by you, will it be necessary to repeat it? (A) As indicated, this may be necessary to continue until ALL of the causes are eliminated.
Do not give up too easily, and do not overindulge because you feel a great deal better. Be consistent and persistent, and we will find greater relief coming for this body.
-
(Q) How often will it be necessary for Mrs. Cooney to treat me, if at all? (A) This will depend upon how well the body responds. Do not give these up too quickly, even though there IS the return of the activity through all of the limbs, and the lack of any of the drawing or contracting from the disturbance. STILL keep these up for at least several months after it is all eliminated.
-
(Q) Any more advice regarding my diet? (A) As indicated, do not have those combinations that produce great acid.
Citrus fruits while acid are NOT acid producing, unless taken with quantities of starch. Do not take coffee or tea with milk in same. A little sugar is not as bad as milk or cream.
- We are through with this Reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 3/13/38 Mrs. Cooney’s letter: ”…I think Mrs. [1512] is improving as rapidly as can be expected. The gold is making her stronger - her knees are my worst trouble. They apply packs often and up until now she has had treatments nearly every day…
“She is really trying to follow the suggestions as given. Her knees stay so stiff but I and you have her care only a few months while she has been to Hot Springs, N.Y., Madison, Tenn. and to every doctor in Cullman and several in Birmingham - over a period of three years suffered a great deal…”
R2. 3/25/38 “Just a line… Mrs. [1512] is doing so nicely - walking without a cane - a little stiff in the knees but I think she will always limp a trifle. She is so thankful to you and me for her recovery - but you know those rich people
- they are the ones who are tight with their money.”
R3. 5/16/38 ”…Mrs. [1512] is doing nicely. Her knee is still stiff when she walks but she can bend it when in bed or sitting…”
R4. 7/7/38 [1512]‘s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce,
For several weeks I have been improving rapidly and now think I will sometime be almost normal.
Much of this improvement I attribute to your advice and the rest to Mrs. Cooney’s treatment, though I have cooperated in every way.
May you continue in your great work of helping humanity.
Sincerely (Mrs.) [1512]
R5. 7/12/38 ”…Mrs. [1512] is getting along fine, just finished the Gold treatment. She admits it has done her a lot of good, but you know these wealthy people are the least grateful. She said she would write you. She drives her car every day - also comes to … from …, once a week for treatment. She has a wonderful housekeeper who gives her the massage every day…”
R6. 8/13/38 [1512]‘s letter to EC:
…, Alabama
Dear Mr. Cayce,
You asked me to tell you something of how my arthritis started and what had been done for me.
I had a hard fall two years ago in February on the sleet and snow, was in bed a month and then every few weeks there would be days when I couldn’t get my clothes on until in August I went to Hot Springs, Ark. and took the course of baths, shots and massages. That only eased me for the time so after six weeks at home I went to the Adventist Hospital in Nashville and was very ill for six weeks. They eased my constant suffering but I was in bed here for four months with a nurse who continued the hospital treatment - hot packs, massages and infra-ray, the doctors still giving me shots of Sodium Salicylate and Iodine with Colchicine. In April of ‘37 they took me to Florida but only stayed five weeks and was not benefited. Have been at home since but there was little improvement until I met Mrs. Cooney in November. She treated me six days a week until my reading which I believe was in January. Through your directions she has done wonders for me. I still go to her once a week because I am far from well but am enjoying life again.
Sincerely, (Mrs.) [1512]

- What can be done to keep my joints from becoming stiff?
- Is my diet correct?
- Should I continue walking each day?
- Is the sedative that I am taking at intervals harmful?
- Are the capsules, A, B, DOL with C what I should take, if not, just what vitamins should I take?
- If it is necessary for me to take gold may I take in by mouth there is no one to give outwardly as before.
Please let us hear from you at your earliest convenience as the pain is effecting my nerves.
