This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 15th day of February, 1938, in accordance with request made by the father - […], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., through recommendation and sponsorship of Mr. [1151], Active Member of the Association.

Time of Reading 11:00 to 11:15 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Washington, D.C. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes.

2. Now as we find, so far as the organic reactions in the physical forces of the body are concerned, these are very good; save as are affected by the activity of the system in its attempt to meet the needs of those conditions that are disturbed in the structural portions.

3. And the activities as combined with these, then, bring the abnormal forces or influences in the physical body, [1535].

4. These then are the conditions as we find them with this body:

In the circulatory forces - that is, the blood supply - we find these very good save as to the hindrances that arise in the manners that have been or may be indicated from the activity of the system in relation to the formations of portions of the blood supply and the condition from the accident - or from conditions which arose outside the body as to cause such as a car accident or a fall.

6. Then, in the nerve system - especially as related to the muscular forces and the abilities for locomotion, and those activities that arise - we find the natural forces from the supplying energies along the cerebrospinal system from which all of the system receives its impulse for activity.

7. In these relationships we find at times there has been heretofore, more than in the present, a disturbance in the functioning of organs.

8. Then, as related to the nerve system, we find there may be created or brought about such activities in the system as to aid the body to build up nerve connections along the cerebrospinal system that coordinate with the sympathetic or vegetative nerve system.

9. Thus we may bring better activity through the locomotion of the lower limbs as well as the handling of the body and the activities through same.

10. While those applications that have been made are in a measure very well, we find that these of the more specific nature would be the proper applications in the present:

We would obtain the services of a nerve specialist of the OSTEOPATHIC school; such as the one close to or about the Boston area who has been and is familiar with disturbances of this very nature - and who has followed suggestions made through these sources for an individual with a somewhat similar disturbance - though in another portion of the spinal system. [Case [1215] and Murry A. Catron, D.O.]

12. Such mechanical adjustments OSTEOPATHICALLY made would be along the cerebrospinal system, and especially in the areas where the injuries have been more severe; in the dorsal and the lumbar areas - GENTLY, to be sure, but these given CONSISTENTLY and persistently.

13. Also we would use the energies of the low electrical forces that carry into the system the vibratory forces as from metals, as to produce - through the vibratory effect upon the glandular activity - the direct reaction to the nerve forces themselves.

14. Such low electrical vibrations would carry the solution of Gold Chloride to the system, as to make the better activities of the glandular system.

15. Hence, the attachments would be made as follows:

16. The small copper anode would be attached first, at the 9th dorsal center. The large nickel anode would be attached last (and being the one through which the Chloride of Gold Solution passes, you see), to the lacteal duct and umbilicus center.

17. The proportions of the Gold Solution would be two grains to each ounce of Distilled Water; and there would be used about six ounces in the container from which the VIBRATION of the Gold would pass to the lacteal duct and umbilicus center, through the negative anode of the Appliance.

18. Such attachments would be made each day for twenty to thirty minutes.

19. Keep the anodes polished, and be sure that the attachments are made firmly to the body - not too tightly, but just so there is perfect connection, directly to the body or to the skin, you see, at those areas indicated.

20. The Chloride of Gold Solution would be changed every fifteen days.

21. Every twenty-six to twenty-eight days we would recharge the Appliance.

22. Doing these, we may bring much better conditions and RELIEVE a great deal of the pressure; and build the energies about structural portions in the cerebrospinal system, as well as their reactions to the locomotory systems.

23. These then we would do for this body, [1535].

24. To be sure, it will require some time. But after the period of three to four months, we should then see a much faster and much more reaction - or sympathetic reaction - for the whole of the body itself.

25. Ready for questions.

26. Do these things as we have indicated, and we will bring the better conditions for this body.

27. We are through for the present.

Dear Mr. [1151]

There is little to say about a reading once it is given, just hope your friend [father of [1535]] will be able to be the gainer from the effort, very funny to me was that had a dream about the reading last evening or this morning, and that is something so very unusual, can’t help but think of it - seems there was some question about it and there was an appeal to the Pres., to insist that he give it a fair trial, for help would surely come if he would only do that -

Quite an interesting experience today have letter from head of Post Graduate Hospital - in N.Y. asking advice about a patient [1534] there. Very unusual. Thanks for every thing, hope you are feeling fine and that every thing is working well with you and yours.

R2. 4/22/38 HLC’s letter from N.Y. to EC: “Mr. [1151] promised to have me meet […] [father of [1535]]. The reading was most accurate, but he shied at osteopath.”

R3. 8/17/43 Mrs. [2946]‘s letter: “One of the readings on Sept. 1st is to be for [1535]. She was hurt in an auto accident when she was 16, paralyzed from the waist down. She is making some progress but cannot walk after 10 yrs. I just had a letter from her and she has read THERE IS A RIVER and is keen to get a Physical Reading.”

R4. 8/20/43 [1535]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce;

I enclose herewith my application for a physical reading to be made, I believe, on Sept. 1st. This time was taken by Mrs. [2946] (I enclose her letter also) for Gerald Heard. But Mr. Heard was kind enough to suggest that I use one of his periods. I hope this is all right with you. I am very much interested in having it done for I have read Mr. Sugrue’s book and feel that you will be of enormous help to me.

Mrs. [2946] suggested that I give a short history of my case so your wife could have some information for questions.

On August 26, 1934 I broke my back in an automobile accident and my legs were paralyzed from the waist down and have been so ever since. For a long time I suffered from kidney infection and stones and had three operations for stones over a period of five years. This condition has cleared for the time being as the sulpha discovery keeps the infection under control. My back was operated on nine weeks after the accident and the pressure from the cord which had been badly injured was removed. As far as I know the operation was successful but the paralysis did not change. I can walk in braces rather poorly but in the last two years I have found a new series of exercises based on the East Indian Yoga system which have helped me more than anything so far. I am keeping on with these now and they have brought me health and strength in a degree that I had not known since my accident. All in all, there has been a bad injury here followed by a slow but steady improvement.

I am hoping merely that you will be able to make some suggestions as to possible procedure that might have been overlooked. I have of course tried many doctors and many things and am now fairly well satisfied. But one always thinks that there may just be something that has not been tried. If it is possible not to have any predictions as to time limit or as to the possibilities of recovery made, I should be much happier. I feel very strongly that if there is any possibility of my not getting better that I do not want to know about it. My entire happiness lies in working to make myself better and in believing that this work is of some benefit.

R5. 8/25/43 EC’s letter to [1535]: “I have yours of the 20th with your application for membership and the request for a reading. I suspect that this will be a surprise to you. On the 15th of Feb., 1938 we gave a reading that was supposed to be a reading for you. You, at the time, were supposed to be in Suite …, … Hotel. Shall we make a copy of this for you if you haven’t seen it? The reading on the first will possibly be only a check-reading, so just what is your wishes in the matter about this?

“I assure you that we would like to be of a service. I do hope that we will hear from you about this right away, for I know that we didn’t even speak to Mrs. [2746] about this.”

R6. 9/2/43 Telegram from [1535] to EC: TERRIBLY SORRY JUST RECEIVED YOUR LETTER PLEASE DO CHECK READING IF POSSIBLE AND MAIL 1938 READING AS I HAVE NOT SEEN IT. COULD YOU TELL ME WHO ASKED FOR IT. SINCERELY YOURS=

R7. 9/2/43 EC’s letter to [1535]: “Your wire of the 2nd received am mailing you copy of the reading attempted for you some time ago, this will speak for its self as recorded at the time, believe if you study over this, use the suggestions made and then have a check up would be much the better way, for doubt if could get any thing at present with out something being attempted of what had been given.

“Wish could just talk it all over with you, but that seems impractical just now, study this over then and then write me, just hoping to be the means of being of a service in HIS name.”

R8. 9/8/43 EC’s letter to Mrs. [2946]: ”…The person Mr. […] wrote you about, Miss [1535], this was a very peculiar circumstance. Several years ago through a very good friend of ours and a Member of the Board […], there was a reading given and the young lady apparently never knew anything about this, though they had assured us at the time of the reading that she was already in accord and would keep the period. […] I haven’t heard from her since I sent her the copy of what was obtained some time ago, but possibly will in the next day or two…”

R9. 10/3/43 [1535]‘s letter to EC: ”…I have read your reading taken four years ago carefully and my feeling still is that I would like another reading taken before I go ahead and do anything about this. There are several reasons why I think this.

“First, I was not aware that the reading was being taken. Second, the conditions have changed somewhat in my body since then as I am much better and stronger. And third, the reading constantly referred to ‘Pressure’ on the spinal cord which I would like to have explained more clearly. As far as I know, there should be no real pressure there, but only the severed nerve ends that I hope are growing together. Any pressure that was there should have been removed in the operation which was performed for that purpose a few months after the accident.

“If you could make a period available for me in the future (I know how busy you are), I should be most grateful. I believe you know the questions to ask better than I do but if you would like me to write the questions I want answered down for your approval, I will do so.

“Please write me and tell me if the above makes sense to you. I appreciate your kindness more than I can say.”

R10. 2/8/44 [1535]‘s letter to EC: “On Feb. 10th you are to do a check reading for me. I am looking forward to the information we will receive for I am very much improved this year and hope to go on improving.

“The questions I would like asked are as follows:

1. Do you find the body much improved since the last reading?
2. Is there any reason why this improvement should not continue?
3. How can further improvement best be brought about?

“I enjoyed your lecture in New York last fall and was especially glad to have the opportunity of meeting you.”

R11. 3/12/44 [1535]‘s letter to EC: “Thank you so much for your good letter of this morning. I knew that I would hear from you eventually, and so was in no hurry to write. I hope you get well rested and are able to continue your work soon. The weight of the dependency of so many people must indeed be a burden, as well as the actual physical work of the readings.

“When you find time to do my reading, please do wire me, and I shall be here ready. I am glad you feel that I am getting along well; I feel so too. And this makes me want to hear what ‘You’ have to say about my progress all the more.

“I hope to hear from you soon.”
