This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 18th day of May, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self - Mme. [1554], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 4:30 to 4:45 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Calif. (Body and enquiring mind, who seeks information, advice and guidance as to her material activities, affairs and associations. Questions.)

1. EC: Yes - we have those impressions of that entity, that body; and the enquiring mind, Mme. [1554].

2. Ready for questions.

3. (Q) What date does it appear that I will leave California? and for what purpose? (A) As we find, this of course becomes dependent upon whether or not the entity or body chooses to accept those invitations and for the call as may be in the East. This as we find would be before the fifth of June.

4. (Q) Does it appear that I will stay in N.Y., and for how long? (A) This again is dependent upon whether or not there are those activities as related to that which has been a part of the work, as well as finishing others that appear to be a part of the program - sooner or later. And as to how long, this will depend upon choices that are made.

Where circumstances or conditions arise from CHOICE, the TIME and the CAUSE may be RELATIVE - or have no relations whatsoever to conditions as may appear!

But as we find this would be for at least thirty to sixty or ninety days.

5. (Q) If I go to France, how long does it appear that I will remain there? (A) This again will depend upon how much there are the causes that would call for the return, and as to whether or not it is for the relationships as for the demise or for activities in which there may be the needs or the PREFERENCES of the personal activity of the entity in France.

As to how long, this again would be a matter of choice - and becomes RELATIVE!

If the choice is to remain some time, we find that this may be done. If the choice is that the activities are to be carried on that are a portion of the experience in the present, then not so long.

6. (Q) Is it indicated as to when will be my return to California? (A) Such things become problematical, depending upon whether or not choices are made in the direction of activities in relationships to others, and for the conditions that will arise as a portion of the whole of the entity’s experience!

As we find, it would be towards fall or the latter portion of the year - if those activities are carried out that may become (dependent upon the choice!) a part of the entity’s experience!

7. (Q) When and how does it appear that I will get back my round diamond? (A) We don’t find this as a part of the experience unless there are the activities which are not decided in the experience of the entity.

Some changes have to be in the minds of others before this might be even accomplished.

8. (Q) Does it appear that I will sell my emeralds? if so, - (A) (Interrupting) This again - if it is the choice to, yes. If it is NOT the choice to, it is not NECESSARY in the ACTIVITIES of the entity - unless it’s desirous to be used in other directions!

9. (Q) If so, when and for how much? (A) (With a sound or sigh of impatience) We are through!

R1. 5/20/38 EC’s letter to [1554]:

Dear Madam

Want to thank you most graciously for yours of the 10th - feel so dumb and unworthy at times, know do not know how to express my self to one who has studied all phases of spiritual phenomena, and who have been with the sages of the East and many many others. For realize all I know has come in a very crude way perhaps, and am but a babe in such matters. But my experiences have taught me just a few things

• one as you remember have said to you - prefer for every one to be present when the information is given - not that helpful words have not come for those far away - but in such cases as for your friend [Mrs. [1580]] - am sure had she been present much more might have been given - why the difference
• do not know - you who have and do make a study of such may be able to answer much better than I.

Why the source of the information stops - for this or that individual - and not answer questions that seem so pertinent - do not know, wish I did.

There is never any one refused information here that asks - sincerely - whether they have money or not - that the four of us give our whole lives to the work all of our time - and too am limited to the number can even try and help - well the board have tried to budget the time and set a price that would merely give us a living and a few have underwritten the time - so that those who are not able to pay may have the reading when ever they ask - we never refuse any one - now and then we find the information refuses to answer - but we our selves are never the judge.

Am sorry about having to wire you again about your friend Mr. [1591] - but it is necessary we have the address for a physical reading - Why - have often wondered but this type of information seems to have been set in that gruve [groove?]

• and works almost entirely from the premise. Do hope the suggestions help.

Health reading - whether short or long - is so much - but how definite are they and experience has shown me - that is governed by how great is the seeking of the individual asking for the reading - possibly that is not a true law - possibly it is too true - one can only judge by the results, and we certainly have experiences in that every day - and have been having them for last 38 years - still haven’t learned very much. Possibly we are so close to it we lose the proper perspective.

The questioner - unless acquainted with the subject - and who can be by a mere name unless they were a physician - does not know how to ask very specific questions but - the results - have been in more than 80% of cases given up by physicians have been helped.

My dear you should not judge any ones elses readings by your own - for in all our experience - your readings were the most unusual - there is a reason - but I do not know it - one was that you were present - the others do not know.

Yes. We have had experience where it was said that the individual was working out a certain experience with a body

• and when reading for that body give until asked did not mention that particular period - am sure would Mrs. [1580] be present - from her development, she might gain a great deal
• or it might block the whole thing - but were she to make a list of questions regards her life reading as she has it - will be glad to make another appointment for her and see what we may get - NO COST, for I feel at least courtesy should be shown fellow workers, if possible.

About your own reading - to me most unsatisfactory - and honestly seldom have I ever seen with this work such questions satisfactory answered - my excuse is that all such depend so upon the Astral influences - and this evidently deals so seldom with the Astral - well just doesn’t click - but as some one wrote a letter about yesterday they had their Life reading years ago - and at the time the predictions meant nothing in fact were almost entirely taboo - yet he writes yesterday - practically all those have come to be a part of their experience - Do you see what am trying to say

• know am saying it very badly - but hope you understand me.

Do hope when you go to N.Y. we will see you again - would like so much to have a good long talk with you - am sure there are a lot of questions you would like to ask me - since you have had time to think on the happenings since your contact with this particular phase of the phenomena.

And I know there are many questions I would like to ask you

• questions that could not hardly be written - in fact would not personally care for written answers.

R2. 11/17/38 Mr. [1568]‘s letter to HLC indicates that Mrs. [1554] had written a letter to HLC in NYC which HLC had discussed with Mr. [1568]. However, we have no copy of that letter and HLC does not now [2/17/64] remember it.
