Time of Reading 3:30 to 3:50 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, New York. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes.
-
Now as we find, conditions are gradually growing serious. Unless there is some action taken for corrections, these will grow to be very serious disturbances.
-
These as we find are of rather a specific nature. Owing to pressures, as well as infectious forces, the lower hepatic circulations are the ones greatly involved. This to be sure is gradually working greater hardships upon the rest of the functioning system.
-
There is the inclination for a softening of the kidneys themselves, and their activity; and pus is sometimes formed. Thus there are the disturbances to the eliminations as through the bladder; so that puffs are indicated in parts of the feet and the face, and the general weakness through the small of the back, across the hips, and the upsetting of the digestive forces.
-
Then, as we find, that which under the circumstances would make for the better conditions would be:
-
Once or twice a day, rest sufficient period (one of these periods may be when the body goes to rest of an evening or night), and massage over the area from the middle portion of the back to the lower end of the spine with an equal combination of Mutton Suet, Spirits of Turpentine and Spirits of Camphor. Massage into the area all that the body will absorb. Then rub two to three thicknesses of flannel thoroughly with the same mixture and apply this hot; adding, of course, an electric pad, that it may be kept warm.
-
Occasionally, once a week, take about half to an ounce of Watermelon Seed Tea; prepared in this manner: Crush the seed.
-
Put about a teaspoonful of the crushed seed in half a pint of boiling water, or pour the hot water on same, you see - in a crock container, NOT in tin or aluminum ware - and let it steep as ordinary tea, for ten to fifteen minutes. Then this taken warm, or as hot as the body can drink it, will be the more preferable.
-
Also it would be well that once or twice a week the combination of the Mutton Suet, Turpentine and Camphor be massaged over the whole of the limbs.
-
Once every other day, for a minute or a minute and a half, use the lower form of electrical treatments as from the plain violet ray; not too strong, but this preferably with the hand - that is, rod applicator rather than with the bulb or any of the other mechanical applicators. Alter the applications from day to day; that is, the first treatment hold the rod in the right hand, the next treatment lay the applicator on a piece of glass and set the left foot on it and then turn on the electricity. The next day hold it in the left hand, the next treatment use it with the right foot. Keep on alternating the applications about, or around the body in this manner.
-
In the matter of the diet, keep away from ANY fried foods. Let the Jerusalem artichoke be a portion of the diet at least once or twice each week. Preferably cook these as you would boiled potatoes, but do not allow to cook too done although they should be cooked all the way through, you see. Take them up the minute they are cooked through.
-
Sea foods of all natures are most helpful, ESPECIALLY the shell fish of every nature.
-
Do not let tuberous vegetables be too much a part of the diet, other than the artichoke.
-
No white bread; rather the black or brown or whole wheat - these are preferable.
-
Not too much of tea or coffee, but the cereal drinks of any nature are very well. Coca-Cola occasionally as a beverage is very well. The reaction of the principal active forces in same is well in these conditions.
-
Do these as we find in the present for the betterment of the body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 4/15/38 Mrs. [457]‘s, wife of Mr. [412], letter to GD:
“We received the reading for Mrs. [1569] today and found it extremely interesting. We do not know for sure whether you also sent him a copy as he had not yet received it this afternoon. However, it takes longer for mail to reach Brooklyn and it is possible that he will receive it later.
“Most of the instructions were very clear and easy to follow. However, I would like to know a little bit more how to prepare the stuff to rub into her back. The reading only mentions equal proportions of Mutton Suet, Spirits of Turpentine and Spirits of Camphor. Should this be mixed hot? Can it be prepared in a larger quantity or must it be prepared each time before using? Would appreciate this information as soon as convenient since, as you no doubt read in the reading, her condition is serious.
“We have had a sudden turn of very warm weather today and I hope you are not passing out down there. Cheer up - it won’t last. I suppose that we are all praying for beautiful weather this coming Sunday and I sincerely wish you a happy Easter whether the weather is nice or not.
“Give my love to Mr. Cayce and Mrs. Cayce and with plenty of it for yourself, I remain…”
R2. 4/18/38 EC’s letter to Mrs. [457]:
“No, I did not send a copy of the reading also to Mr. […]. You did not ask for it and I thought YOU would have to see to the carrying out of it anyway.
“The mixture for rubbing should be prepared in this manner: To 1 tablespoonful of melted mutton tallow, add 1 tablespoonful of Spirits of Turpentine and 1 tablespoonful of Spirits of Camphor. These are the proportions. A big jar of it may be prepared at the time. Only the tallow is hot - or melted - when prepared. When ready to be used, the jar of the mixture may be put in a warm place so it may melt sufficient to be pliable for use; because the tallow will make the mixture into a sort of jelly after it cools. Hope this is clear. I certainly know HOW to prepare it as I used it for my mother when she was ill, and also for my brother’s baby but sometimes it’s hard to express ourselves on paper.
“I’m wondering how you feel about the FAMILY leaving for … I can hardly believe it; it just doesn’t seem possible - as I can’t think of New York without the [255] family being there in toto.
“I certainly trust Mrs. [1569] begins to receive some relief right away, and that you will let us hear how she gets along…”
R3. 7/5/38 Mrs. [457]‘s letter: “Mrs. [1569] seems to be improving although she had a short setback because her mother died.”
