This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 23rd day of April, 1938, in accordance with request made by the husband - Mr. […], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. [1089].

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, Mrs. [1577]; this we have had before, you see - Mrs. [1577]; this we have had before. [No copy of an earlier reading on file. GD]

2. As we find, conditions have advanced where there is little to be accomplished other than the manners that are being administered in the present.

3. Sarcoma - and its effects are to drain the system of vitality. And as it infects the tissue, and grows more aggravating, it will become more painful, with more necessity for the administering of narcotics.

4. Do not burn too deep, but the X-Ray would give the greater extenuation to the activities of the physical forces as we find; and the keeping of the body in as cheerful a physical or mental mood as is practical - or in as practical a way as may be made.

5. We would not, then, alter or change those applications that are being made.

6. Do that.

8. (Q) How often should the X-Ray be used? (A) These as they are being administered are very well; only don’t burn too deep.

Of course, the diets may be altered to those foods that are at times the more palatable to the body; but those that are strength-giving and efficient in creating the plasm for resistances are as effective as may be used.

Hence those foods that are blood building and easily assimilated are well.

As for administrations, though, those as indicated as are being given are as well as may be given.

Operative forces we do not find would be other than shortening the experience or life in the present - in the present sojourn.

R1. 4/24/38 Letter from EC to [1577]‘s husband: “Mighty sorry the information has nothing better to offer. Feel mighty bad about this - but what is, is. Of course you will know better than I what the doctors have told you, and as to whether this is in line with what they have told you. Certainly know what such means - have had these experiences at times, feel all too often - just hope for the best - and that your wife comes along alright, and really improves. Would appreciate your writing me what you have been told - by the doctors, and know that if I can ever be of any help, am only anxious and glad to do so.

R2. 4/27/38 Letter from husband to EC from Hopkinsville, Ky.: “Received the rdg. on my wife’s case yesterday and [1089] handed me your letter this morning, which you had enclosed with one to him.

“Your rdg. concurs almost word for word with what the Dr.’s here tell me, except that Dr. Thomas tells me that the X-ray will not be of any benefit, but Dr. Gary at the hospital tells me that there is a possibility that it will benefit. Up to the present she has had only three X-rays which are given at two weeks interval and of about five minutes duration. We will guard against burning too deep.

“It may be possible that after a few more X-rays I will want a check up rdg., and in the mean time you might let me know what fee to enclose with the request.

“Thanking you and wishing you all success and happiness…”

R3. 4/30/38 Letter from EC to husband: “Thanks for yours of 27th. Do hope your wife responds to the X-ray. Apparently that, so far, is the only hope. Mighty sorry, wish might have had the opportunity to have tried sooner. Think there must have been given a rdg. for your wife years and years ago when she was quite young, when Mr. A. C. Layne was in Hopkinsville - think that is when it was, but did not remember it, as there was no record kept those days. The check rdg. the contribution is 10.00, and any thereafter. Would like to know what would be said after they are through with the series of X-rays.
