This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 17th day of June, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [1619], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, Mr. [1619].

2. As we find, the cause of the conditions is rather hidden, while the effects are rather apparent.

3. From conditions existent in the youth, when there were the effects of injections for preventatives of disturbance, we had a pressure produced in the circulation which has caused the EFFECT of an arthritic reaction, but not that character that has been of a growth, or of an extension as much as ordinarily.

4. Hence we have produced a condition in the areas from the 3rd and 4th dorsal to the lower portion of the cervical, or the 7th and 8th, with the inclination for atrophy of the nerve plexus.

5. We find that these disturbances may be relieved almost entirely with persistent, continued applications; and the changes in application as may be had necessarily from time to time.

6. The rest of the body, physically and mentally, we find very good. And with the applications for these specific disturbances we may find that we may keep the rest of the body in almost a normal condition without the injection or development of some specific or unseen conditions.

7. Then, we would begin first with the use of the Wet Cell Appliance carrying Gold, for the reactions of same to the nerve system. The Gold Solution would be used in the proportions of THREE grains to each ounce of Distilled Water. This Solution should be changed every fifteen days; while the Appliance solution, of course, would be only changed every twenty-eight to thirty days.

8. This would be each day applied for thirty minutes. The attachments would be made as follows: The small plate would be attached first, between the 9th and 10th dorsal center, but the upper portion of the 9th plexus. The larger plate, through which the Gold Solution passes, would be attached last, to the umbilicus and lacteal duct plexus - or a hand’s breadth, or four fingers from the navel center towards the right.

9. Then, it is also necessary that there be about once a week the hydrotherapy treatments, in which there would be the RELAXING of the body preferably with the Vapor Bath of Epsom Salts, see? and the massage that would naturally follow the Fume Baths. These as we find would insist upon following, with such treatments as may be had from Reilly; that is:

10. Use a Fume Cabinet - the REGULAR CABINET with Dry Heat, but very little of the Dry Heat - and have the FUMES from boiling almost a saturated solution of Epsom Salts to settle OVER the body. Have not more than a third of the heat from the regular cabinet light, you see; but boil a saturated solution of Epsom Salts until the body is well covered. As to the manner of doing this: Put half a pound of Epsom Salts in a gallon and a half of water. This may be put in a teakettle (copper, preferably) and this set on an electric plate, see? Let the Fumes then boil for at least fifteen minutes; unless the body becomes weakened from the quantity of perspiration forming - but the Salts Fumes, you see, are to be absorbed.

11. Then have the general massage following same, see?

12. Then, we would be mindful of the diet. Do not have vegetables of the tuberous nature so much as the bulbous AND the leafy vegetables. In meats, only use lamb or fowl. No fried foods.

13. Do these, at least until there have been three charges for the Appliance - that is, until the Appliance with the Gold has been used for about ninety days; and the other applications along as indicated - and then we would give further instructions.

14. Ready for questions.

15. (Q) There is a certain weakness which causes hemorrhage of the trachea. (A) This arises from the circulation as deflected through the lower portion of the cervical area. And with the massage and the Gold, as will tend to make for the strengthening of the lymph circulatory forces, this condition should be aided even before the second changing of the Gold Solution.

16. (Q) They also tell me I have a foreign body consisting of a mineral oil in the lower bronchi.

(A) All these conditions, as indicated, will be aided with the heat from the Epsom Fumes and the vibrations from the Gold, which will tend to CLEAR the body of impurities. As we find, all of these disturbances will be relieved.

17. (Q) Is smoking harmful? (A) In moderation and without inhaling, NOT so harmful.

Do as we have indicated, and as we find there will be much better conditions for this body, Mr. [1619].

18. We are through for the present.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

I want to acknowledge and thank you for your letter of the eighteenth and for the two large envelopes of instruction and information.

Unfortunately I am just sailing for Europe to be gone until the middle of September. I have not been able to consult Dr. Hardwick; but I have had Dr. H. J. Reilly on the phone, and I expect to call on him tomorrow.

It does not seem practicable to take the appliance from the Health Home Remedies Corp. around with me on my trip; and I am afraid I shall reluctantly have to wait until I return to this country to start my cure.

I shall therefore have the Health Home Corp. send me the appliance you describe to me at … Lenox, Mass; and shall wait to order it from abroad in plenty of time to have it ready by the time I return.

My dear Mr. Cayce:

Many thanks for your letter of the tenth and for the hour 10:30 to 11:30 E.S.T. which I shall keep in prayer and meditation.

For twelve years I have been a sufferer from arthritis and have tried many cures in vain.

I should be everlastingly grateful if you could in any way help me to ascertain the cause or indicate a successful form of treatment.

There is also a certain weakness which causes hemorrhage of the trachea. I believe this was brought on from too much singing.

They also tell me I have a foreign body consisting of a mineral oil in the lower bronchi. Perhaps it is here that the bleeding occurs.

Whether this is serious or not I do not know; but certain it is that the arthritis has ruined my last 12 years.

Perhaps if I could be given strength to give up smoking, the trachea trouble would disappear?

I do hope that you will be able to guide me!
