This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of October, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [1623], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Helen Ellington and Myrtle Demaio.]

Time of Reading 3:30 to 3:40 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Conn.

  1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions he has submitted, as I ask them.

  2. EC: Yes, we have the body, Mr. [1623]; this we have had before.

  3. Now as we find, the body shows considerable improvement from that as we have had here before.

  4. Yet we find that now - during the periods for the corrective forces to be made osteopathically, as was indicated - it would be most beneficial to use the heavy Castor Oil Packs over the liver and gall duct area; this extending from the lower portion of the rib of the right side to that area covering the caecum, and - of course - to the central portion of the abdomen. Use these for about an hour each day that the manipulations osteopathically are NOT given. Do not use them on the day that the osteopathic treatment IS given. Have the Packs as warm as can be well stood by the body, and not just pour on the oil but dip the flannel into the oil and wring it out of same. Have at least three thicknesses of the flannel, and then the heavy toweling or the like over same, with the hot pad. Keep on for at least an hour; preferably an hour and a half to two hours.

  5. These as we find - with the general precautions, and the rest of the suggestions kept as have been indicated for the cleansing of the colon area with the enemas - should bring about the bettered conditions.

  6. And this manner of application for the inflammation that has existed in the gall bladder area is much preferable to the attempt - as yet - to osteopathically EMPTY the gall duct, or to apply the greater quantity of those properties that would tend to force a disgorgement of the gall duct - which, under the conditions, would be too severe.

  7. But if the applications osteopathically are made properly, and the Oil Packs are put on BETWEEN the periods of these, we should make for the better conditions for the body; bringing near to normal activity through these areas.

  8. With the stimulation from the Oil, and the general activity of the osteopathic adjustments as indicated, we should bring better activities throughout the body.

  9. Ready for questions.

  10. (Q) How often should the osteopathic treatments be given now? (A) At least twice a week yet.

  11. (Q) Any specific directions as to these? (A) They should be to make for stimulations, of course, for the disgorgement; but do not try to EMPTY same - for the stimulation to the impulses for the activity of the liver, and especially the gall duct area from the upper dorsals, would be the better. And then the stimulation to those ganglia for the limbs, where the activity has been impaired through the general congestion that has existed.

  12. (Q) What connection has my gradually progressive deafness, since ten years, to do with my present trouble? (A) The deafness is rather a sympathetic condition with it. But if in the osteopathic treatments the Eustachian tubes would be cleansed and stimulated, we would improve the hearing. This is rather a sympathetic condition, but there is a local disturbance there that has gradually become sort of static, and has produced a prolapsus in the Eustachian tube itself. This tends to make for the drying, and for the character of the disturbance in the ear with the roaring and popping at times.

  13. (Q) Is the tenderness in the gall bladder region due to an infection in the gall bladder? (A) As indicated, this is from rather a COMBINATION of disturbances. First it was from impulses misdirected. Then, with the bringing of the disturbance in the metabolism of the system, this produced a slowing - so that a granular condition existed in the gall duct itself.

As we have indicated, though, we should cleanse this and not produce such irritations as to make for greater strains upon the locomotories of the system.

  1. (Q) Are there any further modifications to my diet? (A) These will necessarily be changed gradually as there is improvement, or as the healthy reactions come. But never those things that would be very hard upon the system, - that is, greases, fats, fried foods or the like. But the diet may be gradually changed from the character of the fruits and vegetables and nuts that may be taken; or these may be varied a great deal more, you see, as conditions develop.

  2. We are through with this reading.
