[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 4:00 to 4:05 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Alabama. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here.
-
Now as we find, with this body, [1635], there are rather the effects of heat, disagreement of the food in the digestive system by its carrying too much casein or fat and not sufficient of that as is digestible by the body itself.
-
Hence we have the effects of an upset digestive system, with an added condition in the heat making a very violent rash in portions of the body; and it will become or grow to be more and more disturbing unless there is a relief not only by the ability for foods to be assimilated but by the purging or purifying of the system in such a manner as to eliminate the excess already indicated through the various activities of the bodily functionings.
-
As we find, we would change from the mother’s milk to the Carnation Milk, with this rather weak, and in each bottle as it is given add an extra two or three drops of the Lime Water, see?
-
Once each day give one to two drops of Glyco-Thymoline, until there is a cleansing. Or keep up the Glyco-Thymoline in this manner until it may be detected fully in the odor from the elimination - or stool, see?
-
Give small doses of Castoria to produce better eliminations. Of course, after the eliminations by the use of the Castoria this may be stopped for a while; but not until there is a clearing of the eruptions and a better settlement of the body for its growth and development.
-
Over the abrasions, where they are most severe, use carbolated Vaseline, lightly; with stearate of zinc powder combined with Balsam over same.
-
Keep in the air as much as possible, but never in the direct sunlight.
-
Do these and as we find we may make better conditions, unless there are other disturbances arising than are indicated in the present.
-
These as we find may set the conditions aright.
-
If there is the inclination for the body to belch up, or to not assimilate the first preparations of the milk, prepare a compound in this manner:
Lime Water…1 ounce, Cinnamon Water…1 ounce, 10% solution Iodide of Potassium…5 drops, 10% solution Bromide of Potassium…5 drops.
And give one to two drops of this in a little water, about twenty to thirty minutes after each feeding. This will tend to prevent belching, and make for better assimilation and better rest or sleep.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Please give the formula as to how the Carnation Milk should be prepared. (A) THIS SHALL BE PREPARED BY THOSE WHO MAKE SAME!
-
We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 7/11/38 Wire: Change to Carnation Milk doctor’s formula but weaker. Add two drops extra Lime Water in bottle each feeding. Also give two drops Glyco-Thymoline daily. Small doses Castoria. Use carbolated Vaseline and stearate of Zinc Powder with Balsam over abrasions. Keep in air but out of direct sunlight. Sending special.
R2. 7/14/38 Mother’s letter indicated she could not ask her doctor [C. D. Feulner, M.D.] for the Carnation formula because “he would never give it to us, as he wanted to keep her on the breast. He said her stomach was alright but that she wasn’t getting enough nourishment from me and to substitute with Dryco, a tablespoonful to 1 and 1/2 ounces of water, which was too thick for her, I know. He said the rash was just heat… But I rec’d baby book from the Health Dept. yesterday and it had a formula for the average baby so I’m trying that, only making it weaker as the reading said. She’s better - doesn’t cry as much.”
R3. 7/22/38 See mother’s letter - formula given by Dr. Alison of … [a baby specialist] and being used by baby at month old:
1 teaspoonful Lactic Acid 2 tablespoons Karo 1 pint boiled Water
Add 2 ounces of Carnation Milk to 2 ounces of the mixture.
(Baby has gained two pounds and is twenty-two inches tall, is getting along fine - has overcome the condition entirely.)
R4. 7/31/38 Letter: “My only trouble is trying to give her enough to eat. I think she is sort of greedy. Dr. Faulner who was my doctor said there were greedy babies just like greedy folks. I am so happy that she is alright and I thank you again for your help.”
R5. 8/11/41 See 1635-2 for poison ivy.
