Time of Reading Set. bet. 10:30 to 11:30 A. M. Taken 11:40 to 12:00 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ky.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions that may be asked concerning her condition.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [1698].
-
Now as we find, conditions are well advanced; and the system has adjusted itself to the disturbances. Yet we find that with persistence, and consistent application of the influences to overcome the sources of infection which cause the lack of proper lymph flow through the superficial circulation - and thus affecting the body throughout - the body may be greatly relieved, and there may be brought about a better ability for activity.
-
These then are the conditions as we find them with this body, [1698] we are speaking of:
-
There are in the blood supply the indications of high infectious forces through the alimentary canal, as associated with the activity of eliminations.
-
Thus there is produced in the blood stream the insufficient quantity of the plasms that produce the greater white blood supply. Not the leucocyte but rather the lymph and the emunctory circulation.
-
Hence the inflammation of these in the areas where the joints and the tendons have the greater supply of the mucous membranes, or those that form the cushion and the tendons about same have suffered and do suffer from the lack of the nutrition.
-
These have brought conditions which exist in the present.
-
The stress, or the greater amount of disturbance arises naturally by the pressure upon the nerve system; and this making for encasement as it were through the hardening portions prevents the nerve supply then from giving the impetus for the proper circulation.
-
Thus, with the reduction in the quantity and quality of the blood, and with the lacking in eliminations, there becomes - as indicated in this body - a great deficiency in superficial circulation. Yet we find where there have been conditions such that the inflammation causes accumulations about joints; as knees, hands, feet and limbs.
-
Then as we find, in making corrective forces, many conditions must be taken into consideration. As indicated, there must be not only the removal of the causes of the disturbance but the applications such that there may be the absorption of the activities within the accumulations; and the activity of BOTH of these related to the whole of the circulation as well as the muscular and structural portions of the body, to build upon.
-
Hence we will find that a SERIES of applications must be made, with changes in same AS there are the gradual developments or changes in the system.
-
First then, as we find, we would begin with properties that may cleanse the whole glandular system; so that, as the body begins to respond, the formation through the glandular forces of that as assimilated will be building towards normalcy for the body.
-
Begin first then with Atomidine - commercial strength; one minim in half a glass of water before the morning meal each day for three days. Then the next three days take TWO minims; the next three days take THREE minims as a dose.
-
Then leave off the Atomidine, after the nine days of taking same as indicated, you see; and begin then with saturated solution of Epsom Salts in Packs over the joints and those portions of the body where the stiffness or soreness is most pronounced, and especially these should be put - as well as the extremities - over the liver and gall duct and right side of the body, as well as ACROSS the back lower down, - that is, across the lumbar area. These would be applied in series, you see; for an hour to an hour and a half once each day - for three days.
-
Then begin with the NEXT series of Atomidine, taking the one minim for three days, and so on, until the three minims are taken as indicated - making a series of nine days again, you see.
-
Then have the Epsom Salts Packs again. Then have another series of the Atomidine.
-
THEN, after the THIRD of the Atomidine series, we would leave this off; and begin with taking internally the Chloride of Gold AND Bromide of Soda. Prepare these in separate solutions, and only add them when the dosage is to be taken. The Chloride of Gold Solution would be prepared in the proportions of one grain to ten ounces of distilled Water. The Bromide of Soda Solution would be in the proportion of one grain to one ounce of Distilled Water. Keep these separate. The dosage would be preferably in the evening, rather than morning, and would be taken in this manner:
-
1st day - 1 minim of the Gold Solution and 2 minims of the Bromide of Soda Solution in a quarter glass of water.
-
2nd day - 2 minims of the Gold Solution, 4 minims of the Soda Solution.
-
3rd day - 3 minims of the Gold Solution, 6 minims of the Soda Solution.
-
Continue increasing the Gold solution one minim each day, and the Soda Solution in the proportion indicated, until five minims of the Gold Solution are being taken and ten minims of the Soda Solution. This would be a five-day series, you see.
-
Then leave off.
-
And give the body a BATH in a saturated solution (or nearly so) of Epsom Salts. This would mean at least twenty-five POUNDS of Epsom Salts in thirty to forty gallons of water, as warm as the body can stand. Remain in the Bath for at least twenty to twenty-five minutes, and the body should be MASSAGED while in the Bath - by the one giving the Bath, or the one who puts the body in and takes it out, see! Massage especially over the limbs where contraction has made disturbances.
-
When the body is taken out of the Bath, rub the body down thoroughly with a heavy coarse towel. Then massage over the areas where stiffness has been, with a solution prepared in this manner:
-
To 4 ounces of Russian White Oil, add - in the ORDER given, NOT in just ANY order:
Oil of Peanuts…1 ounce, Oil of Cedar Wood…1 ounce, Oil of Sassafras Root…1/4 ounce.
Shake these together, for they will tend to separate; and massage into the spine and limbs - ALL the body will absorb!
-
Then after resting for three days, begin with the Atomidine again; one minim, increasing THEN one minim EACH DAY until five minims are being taken.
-
Then leave off for three days.
-
Then begin with the Gold and Soda Solutions again for a period of five days, increasing from the one minim of the Gold to the five, as indicated.
-
Then give another Epsom Salts Bath.
-
Whenever there is great distress, use the Epsom Salts Packs over the areas indicated.
-
After the second Epsom Salts Bath (not before), begin with the use of the low Wet Cell Appliance carrying the Gold AND Silver in same; the Gold vibrations used one day, the Silver the next. The Gold Solution for use vibratorially through the Appliance would be in the proportions of three grains to each ounce of Distilled Water, while only a two percent Silver Solution would be used in the beginning.
-
Use the Appliance each day for thirty minutes, one day the Gold, the next day the Silver, for a period of at least thirty days. THEN we would give further instructions. The attachments for both solutions would be the same, - that is:
-
The anode, or copper plate, would be attached to the 9th dorsal plexus; while the larger plate - through which the Solution passes - would be attached to the umbilicus and lacteal duct plexus.
-
Do not begin the Appliance until AFTER those periods indicated, or the second period of the Epsom Bath - and the other solutions have been taken internally as indicated.
-
Do not take the Gold internally during the period the Appliance is used; though the Atomidine may be taken in series during that month also.
-
Now, as to the diet: Beware of fried foods! Never any fried foods; never any hog meat - unless it is the head, the feet, or chitterlings, or the like. Of course, the liver, the heart, the light or melt may be taken if so desired; all of these stewed, but NOT too highly seasoned. Never any bacon or ham or shoulder or the like, either cured or fresh.
-
The principal meats should be fish, fowl or lamb. Never any of these fried, but boiled, broiled, roasted or the like.
-
Plenty of vegetables that are of the leafy variety; and let a portion of one meal each day be a combination of either raw vegetables or raw fruits - but not the two (fruits AND vegetables) combined on the same day.
-
Do these, in the ORDER and rotation of series as indicated, and when the periods have passed we would give further instructions.
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through for the present.

Mr. Cayce:-
As requested, a history of my case up to the time of obtaining the Reading, follows:
My trouble started in the summer of 1932 with stiffness in the knees and swelling of the knees, ankles, and hands, also stiffness in the fingers.
I couldn’t move without pain, and couldn’t sleep at night. Couldn’t lie still, and the only way I could describe the feeling was that something was crawling inside my legs, and I had to keep stretching them.
My doctor said the trouble was arthritis, and advised me to have my tonsils examined, which I did. In Nov. of that year, I had the tonsils removed, and the specialist who did the work said there was enough pus in them to cause a lot of trouble.
But instead of getting better, I kept getting worse, and in Jan. of 1933 my doctor advised that I take the baths at Martinsville, Ind. for two weeks, which I did, but with no results.
I then went to an orthopedic surgeon in Louisville, Ky. and he thought he could help me by a serum treatment, which I took for several months with no results.
Then, as I was growing worse all the time, I went to a doctor in Nashville, Tenn. who treated me all that summer. My general condition improved some under his treatment, but not the arthritis, and he finally said he had done all he could do unless I would have my gall bladder removed. He couldn’t promise that that would help, but thought it might, as he had had me take the Graham Test, which they said showed SOME trouble in the gall bladder. But as I was not willing for the operation unless SURE it would be of benefit, I didn’t have it.
In the spring of 1934, a Louisville doctor was recommended to me and I went to him. He had me stay there in a hospital for two weeks for examination and observation, and I was under his treatment all that summer, with no results. In the mean time, I had an acute sinus infection, and had an operation for that, thinking we had at last found the seat of infection.
But I continued to grow worse, and in Jan. 1935; while on a visit to my brother in Mobile, Ala., he insisted that I go to an orthopedic surgeon there, which I did. He said I had atrophic arthritis, and he thought possibly the trouble was in the colon. But after taking his treatment for four months, I was no better.
Then, in July, 1935, I went to Canada to Dr. Locke, but he didn’t help me at all.
In Jan. 1936, I took sulphur baths at Graham Springs, Harrodsburg, Ky. for three weeks, but couldn’t walk as well when they were over as I did before.
Took osteopathic treatments all that summer, but they didn’t help, and that fall I had to begin using crutches and have been using them ever since.
Took chiropractic treatments for four months during the winter of 1936-37, but they were of no benefit.
I had only six teeth of my own when the trouble started, and have since had them removed.
I have taken many kinds of medicines that have been recommended, but all to no avail.
Now, the trouble is in my hips, arms, and in fact my whole body is sore and stiff and I can not move without pain.
My hands are the only part of my body that has ever gotten any better, and they have been better this past summer than they have since the trouble started.
This is a complete history of my case as well as I can give it up to the present time. Mrs. [1698]

Gentlemen:-
I am writing for information on the Wet Battery - We connected same and applied according to directions - but there is no vibration - are you supposed to receive any kind of sensation?
Please let me know at once.
Yours truly,
R3. 1/9/39 EC’s ltr. to Mr. […]:
Dear Mr. […]
Replying to yours of the 7th. If you compounded the ingredients for the appliance correctly and applied as directed, you would then only have a very low voltage of electricity - not enough to shock the body, but sufficient to do a lot of good if used as directed. And am sure you have it right. Would keep on using as directed - there is very little shock from the low voltage, but is what is needed for the body.
Thanking you
Sincerely Edgar Cayce
R4. 1/12/39 Husband’s letter:
Dear Mr. Cayce:-
Just to be frank with you - I think that the Wet Cell Appliance is just a farce - we think that we are using it according to directions - but there is no sensation when same is being used and the first few times the solutions were used large flakes (black) formed on the wire in both the Gold & Silver Sol. - but lately the flakes do not form and remain in the bottom of the jar the Gold Sol. has lost its color.
How often is the solutions supposed to be changed and what about all the sediment forming in same?
Please let me know whether or not - you think that we are leaving undone any thing that we should.
Yours truly [1698]
R5. 1/16/39 EC’s ltr. to Mr. […]:
Dear Mr. […]
Have your of 12th. We have hoped we had directions plain enough with each appliance. Of course you do not use the same container for Gold and silver solutions do you? such might account for the sloughing off of metal - but as wrote you there is no perceptible shock from the use of the appliance - it is sufficient current however to carry the effects of the metals into the system if used properly. The Gold solution should be changed every 15 days and appliance every 30 days. The silver at times eats the lead in bottle off unless it is taken out of the solution and wiped off after it is used each time.
We have had a few cases where these appliances have been suggested where there was trouble in getting directions straight but where ever given they have proven of help without exception where used properly - there are several Dr.’s using them in N.Y.
Do hope you get this working right - can we help? Glad to try and explain as best we can.
Sincerely, [signed] Edgar Cayce

Dear Mr. Cayce:-
In reply to your recent letter with reference to the Wet Cell - will say - that we have been using just the one bottle for both solutions because there was only one sent - but we washed it thoroughly before putting in the other liquid - the Gold Sol. - has gotten perfectly clear and the Silver Sol. - very Black - and no more flakes form in either sol.
Please let us know whether or not this is OK:
Yours truly,

R8. 1/23/39 EC’s letter to [1698]:
Dear Mr. […]
Have yours of the 20th. Am asking the Health Home Remedies Corp. to send you another solution bottle. This will be much better and am sure that is what caused the dregs in same. Do hope you will soon see results as practically every one has that has used the appliances.
Am sure you will have this in next few days.
Thanking you
Sincerely Edgar Cayce

Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach Virg.
Dear Mr Cayce:-
Since writing you about the Wet Cell Outfit we have had more trouble - the wire in the Solution Jar has been eaten up and we cannot use the machine as there is no connection to the solution. So please send two more Solution Jars with the complete connections.
I really think - that I have just thrown away the price of this machine and think that the company ought to take up same.
Yours truly,
R10. 1/25/39 EC made the appointment for her second Physical Reading.
R11. 1/28/39 EC’s letter:
Dear Mr. […]
Have yours of the 24th - have notified the H.H.R. Corp to ship you another solution container - will ask them to send you another - would you please return the one that is broken.
If you do not care to keep the appliance write the H.H.R. Corp. the people who shipped it, they will take the matter up with you. I have nothing to do with that part of the matter. I only hope and wish to be of a service to you and yours.
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce
R12. 1/29/39 Husband’s letter:
Dear Mr. Cayce:-
The time for the check reading is ok - The questions that my wife wants to ask is do you think that she will receive enough benefit enough to compensate her for all this time and money spent.
I really think that the money spent for the Wet Cell Appliance was just thrown away and as I have been putting out money for this case for five years I am beginning to want some results.
Yours truly,
P.S. I am enclosing ck. for $20.00.
