1. GC: You will have before you the entity [1701], born June 8, 1923 at 41 East 78th St., a private sanitarium, New York City; and you will continue with the Life Reading begun for this entity on October 5, 1938. You will then answer the questions that may be asked:

2. EC: Yes, we have the records here of that entity now called [1701].

3. In giving that as may be the most beneficial, the most helpful for this entity, in relationships to its experiences in the earth and that it may experience in the present, - little that is ordinarily of interest is AS YET of interest to this entity, as to history, former appearances or the like.

4. Hence more of that of a spiritual nature should be the application in the present for this entity.

5. This is an entity that to many is hard to understand, and too oft - because of the supersensitiveness - it is said that the entity is a poor, unfortunate one, because of its moods, its temperament. These are so changeable. These are so one way today and tomorrow may be entirely different, that the entity becomes more and more one tending towards self-condemnation - or wholly condemning others for those conditions which apparently become a part of the experience of the entity.

6. This is not necessarily a fault; indeed not that which may not be used as a steppingstone to attaining, to gaining helpful influences in the experience of the entity.

7. Yet, these very natures, these very characteristics will require that the entity analyze self the more often.

8. For, the entity should INTEREST self in that which is creative and constructive; not necessarily just to be spiritual-minded, but because that which IS creative and that which is helpful in EVERY manner will bring the most helpful influences in the experience of the entity.

9. For, every virtue has its own reward. The expending of self in any direction of a destructive nature also, - whether it be jealousy, hate, fault-finding, impatience or what, - brings that which is self-condemning to an entity, especially one as sensitive and as high-minded as this entity in its inner and deeper purposes.

10. But the little things, the slurs, the failures, the faults that may be found, work an awe upon the entity - as it were; but an awe that causes the entity to turn more into self - and to close up, to become destructive as it were and to DETERMINE in that direction.

11. These bring distress, discomfort, disorder, discouragement, - in the physical, mental AND spiritual self.

12. We find that the greater field of activity should be in music, and especially to emulate such music as Schumann, - that is, in the same tempo or vibration, - which might bring a helpful force.

13. Study all forms of new thought, new ideas, new approach, and especially SPIRITUALITY rather than spiritualism.

14. These as we find, if they are emulated, if they are applied, may bring the greater, the better influences for this body, [1701].

R1. 7/23/41 Letter [1701] to EC: “Have received your letter about my reading and appreciate your wishing to help me further with same.

I will admit that the reading has me just a bit puzzled. The things you told me about my supersensitiveness, and my ‘self-condemning’ are quite true - but I am afraid that you have not told me enough to help me to any real advantage.

The reading says that I am hard to understand because of my varying moods, etc. I really believe that the source of all my ‘troubles’ lies in the fact that I CAN NOT understand MY-SELF! I simply can not account for my varying feelings, for my being hurt at the slightest provocation - and, worst of all, I seem to be extremely inconsistent in my whole make-up. The latter, perhaps, is why I find it so hard (really impossible) to understand and analyze myself. I can not seem to decide just how I want to be - I am three or four different persons trying to appear in one person, I am never the same for even the duration of one day.

I just can not find myself!

I am at present attending college, and I thought perhaps you might have a suggestion as to what I should take up. I can not seem to become interested in anything - although I feel as though there IS something that would be of vital interest to me if I could only discover what it is.

I was interested in knowing of my former experiences in the world and did not understand if there were none, or if you just did not think it necessary or wise to mention them -

I do wish that I could meet you, Mr. Cayce, and speak to you. I hope that the little I have said about myself will enable you to understand me better.”

R2. 7/31/41 Letter from EC to [1701]: “Thank you very much for yours of the 23rd - do wish it were possible for me to talk your reading over with you, but as that isn’t possible just now, will have to do the best we can by mail - know am anxious and glad to help if possible, so don’t lose patience with me, and am sure never will with you - and as so many say they have found help with their readings - you should be able to do so also. Then too your reading indicates you are interested in things Psychic, possibly there we have a common meeting ground. That is one of the things you should stress in your experience - but not in the way of running to every psychic you hear of - but you am sure wouldn’t do that any way. But study the methods of each type of psychic you hear of, then use the BOOK of books to judge them by - that book is the Bible for if there is one that is full of the subject that one is.

Now for your reading - please know there is nothing that I am aware of or have seen or heard about you that is not in the data sent you - why it has not given you any of your appearances do not know have never had this to happen before in the two thousand or more readings of this type have given - why I do not know the information indicates there must be a seeking by yourself if you should know. Then they may be given. As you describe yourself to me - that is just the same way the information describes you - and of course you are most interested in knowing what to do about that. In the first reading more than in the last is it told you just how to begin - interest yourself in social service - have your own particular work to do, among or with those less fortunate than yourself, know something of their longings, their disappointments, their hopes, their fears, help them over come these and in doing so, you help yourself most. Don’t let any day pass without doing your good deed - like any good Boy-Scout, that will aid you to focus your mind and work on things definite - make yourself do this each day - soon you will wish to do it. Budget your time for this. Have so many hours each day you give to this work - whether you are in school or not. So many hours to recreation - so many to social, so many to improvement in mind by study or reading and so much to your Music - that is stressed in both readings and you must be very good whether you will acknowledge it or not, as you play in the Vibration of Shumann - as your birthdates are the same, it would appear.

Will you try this out for one month - and then let’s see what the reading will say - and this one will be on me, for do wish to help if possibly can - if you find trouble in getting at this - write me and tell me your troubles. Feel we can help if you will really work with the information.

Hope you can and will get some ideas from this. They may even be disagreeable to you at first - but won’t you give them an honest try and lets see if we don’t get some of that indecision centered - believe it will work, and please don’t make yourself a martyr to it all. Let’s have fun doing it and will get much more out of it.
