This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 1st day of December 1930, in accordance with request made by self - Miss [1736].

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here - this we have had before. In some respects conditions are bettered; in others, not so well - for there is the tendency of auto-intoxication, from fusing of forces - as it were - in the eliminating channels. The properties as compounded were not put together PROPERLY to make for the proper eliminations, or else we would have considerable changes - and there would not be that tendency for the capillary circulation to be irritated and the tendency for constipation in system.

2. We would use enemas to cleanse the colon. THEN we would use olive oil in small quantities, but taken often - until we have CLEANSED the system thoroughly.

3. Occasionally use castor oil packs over the liver and around to the RIGHT kidney region, especially. Let this be large enough to cover same. Use these about once each week. Bathe off afterward, and do no tax system too much.

4. Keep the general diet in the manner as has been outlined. Ready for questions.

My dear Mr. Cayce;

Your letter with check reading received, for which thanks. I regret so having overlooked the little remark “Please send questions” on rear of envelope, which I only discovered later. I did want to ask whether my spine is all right, for I have had recurrences a few days ago of very sharp and intense pains in my left side of back, and often wondered what they could be - Also whether high colonic irrigations would have helped my stubborn constipation. I immediately took senna leaves and enemas mornings and evenings for two weeks, besides the Epsom salts, sulphur and cream of tartar, and despaired. Somehow I lost 6 - 8 lbs in 3 weeks.

Your reference to compounding properties incorrectly I know was not the case. I believe that condition is due to the fact that I was at my sick brother’s home Thanksgiving Day and unexpectedly staid till Monday. In that way I must confess I was quilty of not carrying out all my health stunts.

In my reading you advise taking olive oil - how much and how often would you advise?

As for caster oil packs I would like to know how that is to be done and whether applied at night and kept on during night?

I suppose I am to continue with violet ray lamp?

Dear Miss [1736]:

Replying to yours of the 4th, where the suggestions have been for the taking of olive oil - in practically every case it has given that SMALL doses be taken and more often; that is, half a teaspoonful every two hours is very much better than taking two or three teaspoonsful at once. You should keep this up, taking half a teaspoonful every two hours, unless you find it disagrees with you - that is, that you belch it or that it makes you nauseated to take it; then, necessarily, you would have to diminish the dose or cut it out entirely until you can take it again.

The castor oil packs - you secure a large piece of flannel, a portion of a blanket or the like, that would be doubled - dip this in the castor oil, all that the cloth will hold - heat it just so it doesn’t burn the body and place it over the area outlined in the reading. Of course, you will have to have the piece of flannel large enough to cover that area. It is not necessary to keep it on over night, or any longer than it takes to cool the cloth. It should than be heated again and placed on body. I understand that it is somewhat of a messy proposition, but if you can get the results I’m sure that is what you desire.

I trust you are feeling a lot better. I think it would be advisable to have an osteopath make an examination of your spine. I would suggest that you go to Dr. Grace Berger, 77 Park Avenue, New York City. She is one that knows the work and already has several patients she is treating according to the suggestions from the readings.

QUESTIONS

I. What causes constant pains over and below left lung and what can be done for it? These are a revival of same pains of 3 weeks duration constantly in Dec. then much improved by Dr. Berger, and during last Friday’s treatment seemed to start the trouble all over again only worse. II. What is condition of stomach and duodenum? III. How long shall I keep up with my diet, with sulphur, cream of tartar and epsom salts, also lamp treatment?
