This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 26th day of November, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [1755], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. [1646].

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions she has submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes.

3. Now as we find, there are disturbing conditions. These are brought about, we find, by the segregation in the system through adherence of tissue, producing a tumorous growth; which as we find would be - due to the advanced condition - more satisfactorily removed through surgery.

4. Not that it is not possible to be removed through absorption, and through the metaphysical natures or manners, - but when the temperament of the body is considered, we find there would be greater abilities brought about in the activities of the body if such measures were taken.

5. With a little precaution, we find there will be no great trouble experienced in the ability of the system’s creating coagulative measures and forces.

6. Also with the proper precautions and preparations, we find that the circulatory forces and the heart’s activity may be brought under the correct activities; and without some mishap not indicated, these would react in the better way and manner.

7. We would ADVISE, to be sure, that all interested, all who would aid, keep in meditation and prayer during such periods when these are brought about.

8. The abilities of the ENTITY - as an entity - in its constructive influence and force, as may be directed by those influences about the entity, would be less hindered if such measures were taken.

9. Hence these as we find would be the manners for the removing of the disturbances with this body, [1755].

11. (Q) Have you been much in consultation with her guardian angel Zebedee regarding her case? (A) This is one and the same as to advice and counsel in behalf of the entity’s condition.

12. (Q) Any further advice? (A) The sooner the preparations are made and the precautions taken for the removal of disturbances, the better for this body.

Do hope the suggestions for Mrs. [1755] prove to be the very best for her at this time, know will be anxious to hear how she comes along.

Am enjoying the books you sent me very very much and appreciate the courtesy you have shown me more than can tell you - will take care of them and return soon as have had an opportunity to finish each of them.

R2. 12/1/38 [1646]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce:

A letter from Mrs. […] tells me [1658], her son passed on last Friday at 11.45 P.M. & that his faith to the end was wonderful.

Mrs. Palmquist tells me to inform you that she received your letter and will transmit to you the message that she gets when she gets it from Hosea as to your Guardian Angel. Hosea may not see fit to tell you for some time. I suppose that if you are getting on all right without it there is no need to tell you or for some other reason it may be delayed.

We both appreciate your message re Mrs. [1755] I mean she and I. After consultation with her doctors she has decided to undergo the operation next Wednesday, Dec. 7th, probably in the morning, so be in prayer for her if you can. I hope to listen in to Hugh Lynn’s broadcast next Sunday. I hope he will not “go scientific”, I mean allow his “scientific” point of view to stultify his progress thru the “faith” method religiously. I think he knows how to keep an even balance. I hope you do enjoy the Egyptian books. I wanted you to read them because Rosemary’s mediumship is similar to yours, in type I mean.

Dear Mr. [1646]-

Yours telling me of the passing of friend [1656] came some days ago - while I was in N.Y. - am sure his faith held and that all is well.

Please thank Mrs. Palmquist for me - will be glad to have the the message when she receives same. If we are right - encouragement helps - if wrong certainly wish to be put right.

Will be anxious to know the outcome for Mrs. [1755] - feel sure she will have the best - and all will be well.

The programme - has been very well received - the discussion idea seems to be the best for the approach - he certainly hopes to make it not quite so morbid or fatalistic as he is able to get audience, must necessarily be a growth. Hope it is constructive if he remains with it.

Certainly am enjoying the books - being away has delayed me a bit with reading - will try and finish them and return them soon -

R4. 12/17/38 Mr. [1646]‘s letter:

Dear Mr. Cayce,

You’ll be interested to know that Mrs. [1755] came thru her operation in most unusually good shape. Whereas she is usually a great bleeder and they had everything ready for transfusions etc. she bled very little. And she has been the star patient ever since. Please continue to pray for her, for we attribute her success to the mercy of God made effectual thru prayer. I will send for a copy of report of findings etc. which seem to show a confirmation of your diagnosis. I think a check Reading would be well about three weeks after the operation. Will that be O.K.? I’d like to have it a combination “life” & “physical” if possible to expedite future correct conduct of her case in the light of her characteristics. Will that be possible? Thank you indeed for all your help.

R5. 12/20/38 Mr. [1646]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. [1646]-

Thank you for yours of the 17th. Am happy to know Mrs. [1755] is getting along very nicely and will appreciate a history of her case. Had a very unusual experience with Mrs. [1755] about five or six days ago. In a dream saw her and gave her a healing treatment and saw her regain health rapidly. So it was most gratifying to have your letter.

Will be glad to try the check reading for her when she wishes. We have not been very successful in getting Life reading questions in the physical, however - apparently these come from a different source of information. In fact, have found that it is best to be polarized differently but will be very glad to do what we can.

R6. 12/27/38 Mr. [1646]‘s letter:

Dear Mr. Cayce:

I have not yet been able to secure Mrs. [1755]‘s report to send you on her case. She seems to think she is getting on very well and so feels it is not worth while spending any money on having a check-up reading, but I would like for her to have it on the possibility that there might be good advice on a more rapid recovery. That was a very remarkable experience you had of a dream healing of her. Did that occur in the daytime or night time? Was it a real dream or was it a clairvoyant experience, - can you differentiate between the two? Will you send me some more of your booklets and a couple of the reports on the healing of the scleroderma case [528]. I use these to drum up interest in psychic healing and I try to get my readers to return the booklets but sometimes they just do not come back, so gradually they are lost. I have several persons I am educating to have a Reading with you but it takes time to get them to think there may be anything in it! I enclose a dollar for I know the booklets & c. cost money. Dear Mr. [1646]-

Thanks for yours of 27th - will be glad to have the report on Mrs. [1755]‘s case when you can send it - and to try and check up if she would like, but of course would not if she did not care for it. Yes, the experience came when I was meditating in my chair in our living room during the day.

Hard to say when one can experience the difference - for me at least, for know am not fully aware of that about me yet feel am not asleep in the ordinary sense of the word.

Sending books under separate cover - what do you think of the little leaflet [See under 1770-2 Reports - printed leaflet, A MAN - HIS WORK - WHAT IT MAY MEAN TO YOU.] in these - have abundance of these if would care for them and are easily handed out.

Thank you for your interest, we enjoy having the boys home just now - are being kept rather busy - but is it in the service of the Master - all is well.

R8. 1/4/39 Mr. [1646]‘s letter:

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Thank you for the booklets. Do you have a couple of the reports on the case of scleroderma [528] I can have? I hardly think I am going to get any further report on Mrs. [1755]‘s case except that Dr. Schuman who operated after reading your diagnosis said “He hit it didn’t he?” this to Mrs. [1755]. She is still improving, so I think she feels there is no need for a check up.

Dear Mr. [1646]-

Haven’t forgotten have some of your books will return them very soon - have enjoyed reading them - but have been so very busy in last few weeks haven’t had much time to read.

Thank you for the report thus far on Mrs. [1755] that she is getting better - is the main thing after all - like to have records for the help it may be for some one else when ever we can. But that she has the help is the thing - nice that Dr. agreed. That is fine also.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Sitting with the trumpet this evening with Mrs. [1755] & three others, [1658] came thru on a “Yes” & “No” basis, saying he had a special message for us, i.e., that had he obeyed your instructions more fully & accurately with ck. up readings he believes he could have recovered & need not have passed over! I warrant you never before rec’d such a comment from a spirit on the other side after one of your readings!!

Dear Mr. [1646]-

Thank you very much for yours of the 29th to have a report like that is most helpful - one cannot help but feel the personality them selves is better able to judge the truth of what has been given than any one. And we know the effort has not been in vain, tho we may not have understood at the time. May God’s Blessings be with him. His Grace and Mercy keep him always.

R12. 4/21/39 [1646]‘s letter to EC:

Mr. Edgar Cayce, Va. Beach, Va.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

I enclose a check for $10.00 for a checkup physical reading for Mrs. [1755]. I will see her this evening and add to this letter suggested times for the Reading. We want the following questions asked if they are not answered in the Reading itself: (1) What are Mrs. [1755]‘s specific needs that must be supplied in order to restore her normal strength and “pep” or supply those needs to the same end?

I hope everything goes well with you and yours. I am sorry I cannot be in New York to hear your lecture. I hope you are always sure to maintain the high religious note in all your work and words. Hoping to hear from you as soon as possible, believe me, [1646]

Dear Mr. [1646]-

Have yours of the 21st - just last night returned from N.Y. a very lovely meeting - and assure you will certainly try to always maintain a high spiritual aspect - in fact was told by great many - the talk was the best sermon they ever heard. Am sorry Mr. [1646] that neither of the dates given can be taken for the check reading for Mrs. [1755] - the first period we can give this is the afternoon of the 9th 3.30 to 4.30 E.S.T. hope that will be satisfactory - dislike to have her to wait so long - but the entire month of May is taken - save for periods left for check readings - and the afternoon of the 9th is one of them.

IN RE MRS. [1755] may I say that in your reading for her, Mrs. Cayce and the stenographer may discover that my two questions already submitted to you may have been answered in the ordinary course of the Reading, therefore there is no need to ask the questions over again. In that event if there is time and opportunity to ask the following question will you ask Mrs. Cayce to do so?

Dear Mr. Cayce:

My friend Mrs. [1755] is not quite up to par physically and thinks she would like to have you give her a physical Reading. She is not financially able nor would it be convenient for her to go to Va. Beach at this time so I told her you could arrange a time when you might give her a Reading that she could spend that time in quiet meditation in her room so you could the better contact her for the purpose of the Reading. I am asking her to advise you what possible times might suit her convenience that perchance you might select one of them that suits you. Or if none of them suit you you might advise her what time would so you can get together. Her address is: … She lives in the “Garage”, a very cute little cottage just large enough for her and her son. She will fill out the blank for her membership application in your organization and enclose it herewith as soon as your booklet is received by me and forwarded to her. Enclosed is the fee therefore.

B2. 11/18/38 Mr. [1646]‘s letter:

Dear Mr. Cayce:

It goes without saying that you and your son Hugh Lynn are, as am I, deeply interested in psychic (divine) healing on the highest and finest basis, healing of the body, soul and spirit, by the God and Father of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I am sure it is on that basis that you conduct your present work. I think you and I differ on the actual technique of your work. You believe it is all done by your own spirit “out of your body” contacting higher and surer sources of cosmic knowledge, call it “God” if you like. Whereas I believe it is done by your personality vacating to some extent, sufficiently, your physical body and thereby permitting spiritual entities, perhaps those who have been physicians on the earth plane, to control your physical body enough to make their knowledge known to those who are inquiring and asking for help from the spiritual. [1662]

sitting in a private psychic circle where the medium goes into trance as do you and the spirits come thru, one by his vocal cords and the others by independent voice inquired of the main guide of this group “Father Andrew” what he thought of your work and told him your point of view in explanation. Father A. vociferously objected that you were incorrect in your explanation, that the spiritual entities controlling you were those desiring to help and that they were simply keeping anonymous because of their natural humility in not want to be known, that they should not keep you in ignorance of the facts and that they should tell you the true facts. He said he would talk with your guides and so instruct them!! I have not heard the results!

I have had a pretty wide experience in this psychic field and would agree with Father A. on this point tho he does not believe in Guardian Angels and I do. I had quite a lengthy discussion with him on the subject and he said Hosea had no right to tell me what he did about Guardian Angels, that there were no such persons and he would get hold of Hosea make him come in and tell me he was wrong, but to date he, Father A. has not been able to contact Hosea nor my G. A. “Queen Esther”, probably because he does not aspire to the higher contacts, where as if he did want to go higher then would High Heaven cooperate and grant him the privilege of learning about G. A.’s and obtaining the name of his. When I asked Esther why she did not manifest in Father A’s circle she said there were so many reasons it was not worth while to go into any of them, but she told us not to go back to that group whereas a group where I sat the other evening (and they have the direct voice IN THE LIGHT,) which aspires to go higher and learn about their G. A.’s Esther said to go back to that group and lead them higher.

Hosea tells us the G. A.’s are healing angels, so naturally I think you will be interested in them and I am very desirous that you contact them for I feel sure they will help you to more efficient healing and to greater progress in your work. I wish you would have a reading for your own advancement with your “guides” and question them regarding this G. A. business. They probably do not know about them either and should be instructed to look for them, investigate them and their standing on the other side, thereby raising THEIR aspirations to higher levels and so increasing the efficiency of your own work on the earth plane. If you are sincerely desirous of knowing about this whole subject and would like to know the names of your G. A. (your and Hugh Lynn’s) I wish you would write to Mrs. E. A. E. Palmquist and lay the matter before Hosea, ask her to do so and so learn your G. A.’s. Her address is Narberth, Pa. It certainly can do no harm and may be the means of your going to higher and finer levels of accomplishment for the Kingdom, eh, what?!

The Flamebearers have a set form for healing and they have done a little of the kind but we believe we are proceeding under the direction of our G. A’s in asking for your cooperation for the healing of Mrs. [1755].

Therefore the question which I think she has sent you to be asked at the end of your reading for her when it comes off “Have you been in consultation with Zebedee, her G. A., in reference to her case?” The other question I think she wants to ask is “Will you give your reasons for advising for or against an operation?” Perhaps a better form would be: “Do you advise for or against an operation & give your reasons?”

I am sending you an article which I wrote for “Spiritual Truth”; it is not very well printed, nor written but expresses my own private opinion. Let us go after the very “highest” and be satisfied with nothing less than God’s best. P.S. I think our friend [1658] must still be in the flesh, for his family would have announced his passing to me had it occurred. The last I heard was that he was very low, had given up following your prescriptions & expected to slip away very soon, could hardly write.

Wonder to what extent you have made a study of mediumship outside of your own personal experiences. If you have not seen “After 30 Centuries”, I THINK you will be interested in reading a story of the type of mediumship like our own. I’m sending a copy down. When you can return after reading. I think your son will also be interested in it. “Zodiac” thru’ Miss Trioyes is another example of your type. With that I think you are already familiar.

Dear Mr. [1646]-

Have yours of 18th and 19th. First have had no word of any kind from Mrs. [1755]. But as from your letter she must be anxious about an appointment am making it for Saturday morning the 26th 10.30 to 11.30 E.S.T. so if she will send the application and data with questions will get it at that time. Am sure it is well and better to have as many as will keep the period in prayer and meditation. Sincerely hope we may be of a real service.

Next thank you for your contribution to the safety fund - appreciate your help very much.

Your experiences with “Father Andrews” is very interesting. Reminds me of an experience some time ago. Asked a medium in Washington and one in Cal. to give me a message from someone who should know as to re-incarnation. In few weeks each sent me a message - each purported to be from Madam Blavatsky - but they were exactly opposite one to the other. So haven’t known just what to think there.

Please understand I have no objections to the spiritual guide

• if such is directing the information through me - but the experiences have had has led me to believe otherwise, tho oft times have messages from one source or another. When the reading is given very rarely has anyone made themselves known as to the source - and when asked practically each time the same “The Universal” or cosmic source.

Will appreciate any light may have on the subject from any source - and is there ever a message for me - will certainly appreciate your letting me have same.

Am writing Mrs. Palmquist today - thank you for the suggestion and sincerely hope may be of some service to her.

Thank you also for the article - also the book will read and return - thank you. Hugh Lynn is putting on a Psychic programme on the air for W.O.R. Am asking him to send you several announcements - that you may have you and your friends listen in and make comment. He begins the 4th of Dec 2.30 P.M. E.S.T. of course it is trial programme. The station wishes to know if there is sufficient interest in the subject to justify their having such a programme - of course it is not this work - and they have asked him to get up one, and not he selling something to them. Would appreciate your cooperation if when hearing it you feel justified in doing so. It may possibly be an opening wedge to for such a message on the AIR.

Have been anxious about friend [1658] but had not gotten that he had gone over as yet. Some purpose in it all - certainly do wonder.

B6. 11/23/38 Mr. [1646]‘s letter:

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Thank you for your letter on the back of the envelope of which you state that you have just rec’d Mrs. [1755]‘s letter & c. It is certainly strange how a letter mailed on the 15th was only received by you on the 21st. I have just been talking with her and she says that this coming Saturday, the 26th from 10.30 to 11.30 will be alright for the reading. She will spend that time in prayerful meditation. I think you have the two questions she wants asked: (1) Do you advise for or against an operation and please give the reasons? (2) Have you been much in consultation with my Guardian Angel Zebedee in connection with my case?

Your statement regarding the two contrary answers coming from “Madame Blavatsky” is in keeping with what Hosea states regarding the guides of the average medium, that it is too easy for evil to interfere and spoil the messages unless a G. A. is in control, and even then evil does sometime creep in and confuses the message. That is why I am so anxious for you to learn your G. A. and have the benefit of his (her) guardianship. Mrs. Palmquist has not been at all well; I do not know whether she can get you your G. A. or not. I will phone to her and ask her.

I will try to tune in on Hugh Lynn’s psychic program, but the time is rather a difficult one, in the middle of a business day when I’m not near a radio. The general public is so ignorant of things psychic or spiritual that I fear they are not sufficiently prepared to profit very much by a program along those lines. By the fan mail can be told to what extent it is worth while.

I have not any further word, from [1658]. I think his family will let me know if he passes on. I always remember him in prayer “whether here or there”. Thanking you for your interest in Mrs. [1755], believe me,
