This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 14th day of December, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self through his friend and nurse - Miss […], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. Harry Abrams, via Mr. David E. Kahn.

Born January 2, 1897, in Washington, D.C. (Vet’s Facility) Time of Reading Box 103, 11:00 to 11:25 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Sunmount, N.Y.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth’s plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, and that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions he has submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: (In going back over years from present - ” - ‘34 - Yes - ‘33 - ‘20 - a change - ‘17 - a cause - ” etc., on back to birth date.)

3. Yes, we have the records of that entity now know as or called [1759].

4. In giving the interpretations of the records as we find, these are chosen with the desire, the hope to make the experience as a helpful force in the entity’s activity.

5. Hence for this individual entity, rather than giving the personalities, the influence of the astrological aspects, we would give that the entity be warned, - in these respects:

6. Know that in the present material experience ye are only meeting thine own self.

7. Also in the experience of each entity, each manifested soul in a material body, there is ever an ideal. Whether it is acknowledged as its ideal or not, there is chosen a manner of activity with the fellow man as to either make for the manifesting of material, mental or spiritual ideals.

8. Each entrance of an entity into a material experience is that it may better fit itself, through the application of an ideal in its experience, for a sojourn with that which is Creative, - that influence or force in which ALL move and have their consciousness, their being.

9. Then, unless the ideal as set as the standard of an entity in any given experience is of a creative force or nature, and takes hold upon that which is constructive and creative, what MUST the experience be when the soul has shed material consciousness, and as it stands before its own conscience, its God, BARE!

10. There is in the material experience that which is ever as a manifestation of that excuse of old, “I was aware that I was naked and hence I covered myself with leaves.”

11. What are THY excuses? What are thy conditions in thy activity, wherewith ye may stand as one that has sown the seed of righteousness? What is thy ideal of righteousness?

12. Know that these can only be answered within thine own self. For thy body-physical is indeed the temple, the tabernacle of the living God; and there he hath promised to meet thee. For as the Teacher of teachers gave, the KINGDOM of heaven is WITHIN THEE! and as ye make within thine own consciousness, through thy dwelling upon the thoughts of Him who is the Way, who is the Truth, who is the Light. And as He was asked in days just passed, “Speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.” His answer came, “Who made me to be a judge between thee and thy brother?”

13. So with they seeking, ye have given of thine self in a cause. There has been made a mental as well as a material record of same, as to the conduct of thine own life, - and there are the evidences found in thy body, when ye offered thyself in a service. Then, there have been set those channels, those laws that are a part of thee. For as ye have complied with the laws of health, the laws of morality, the laws of spirit, so hath the harvest been reaped within thine own physical consciousness in the present.

14. Then, in thine OWN channel, in thine own application may there be made only overtures through such that due consideration be given thee and thine for the SERVICE ye rendered. Not that ye would like to have rendered, not that ye made a pretense of rendering, or in disregarding those commands given thee as respecting thyself, but in keeping with that ye DID!

15. For remember, there is the immutable law, that changeth not, “As ye do it unto the least of thy brethren, so shall it be done unto thee.” As ye sow, so shall ye reap!

16. Then, turn to thine own opportunity within to know Him while it is yet day in thine own material consciousness. Sow the seeds of truth, of brotherly love, of kindness, of gentleness, of patience. And know, that alone ye possess is that which ye have GIVEN AWAY! That which ye command or demand is never a defense, but rather a judgement ye have set upon thine own self.

17. Then, let thy well [wellspring? Pr. 16:22; 18:4] be renewed within thee, that ye may show forth in the days of thy awareness as to thy relationship to thy brother, that ye take thought of him in that as ye would have men do to you, ye do even so to them.

18. For this experience is for thy own holiness, if ye will but look to Him. For God hath not willed that any soul should be in shame, in discouragement, bound with the fetters of circumstance or of obligation, but would have thee FREE - as He hath given thee thine OWN will, - yea, thine own soul, and said “If ye will be my son, I will be thy God.”

19. Hast thou drawn away? Hast thou neglected thy sonship, thy kinship with thy Maker?

20. Have ye looked upon the circumstances of others and envied them, or coveted their position or their place? Then, know ye have brought condemnation to thine own self!

21. Face the light of truth, as is set in Him, and the shadows of doubt and fear, of disappointments and sorrow, will fall far, far behind! For ye will enter into that peace as He hath promised, “If ye will ask, if ye will live in me, I will come and abide with thee.”

22. Let not that hope then, which is thine, be neglected.

23. Ready for questions.

24. (Q) Will I be able to get a total disability allowance from army service during war? (A) As has been indicated, ye are under the law. As ye have applied self, as ye MAY apply self in following the dictates of the conveniences and the activities which have been set, ye MAY obtain that consideration which ye have given others - with impunity.

25. (Q) Is there the indication that I will marry again? (A) This may be determined best in what is thy purpose and as to what ye have to GIVE in such a union.

Dear Miss […]:

Perhaps you have heard of the research work which Hugh Lynn Cayce, Director of our Association, has been doing on dreams. Basis for such study is found in the several hundred dream interpretation readings which Edgar Cayce gave during his lifetime.

On September 17th, early in the morning, I DREAMED that Hugh Lynn Cayce and I were discussing a phase of our Association work. He was asking me who I thought could head up a certain committee. Without a moment’s hesitation I said, “Why, […]! She’s an expert on this phase of the work!” He said, “Alright; give me her address.”

When I awoke from the dream your name was going through my mind so strongly that I couldn’t dismiss it. When I got to the office I looked in our alphabetical mailing list of approximately 20,000 names and there I found yours as big as life. I have no idea who you are but you must have had some interest in Edgar Cayce’s work to get your name on the mailing list. Your name must have stuck in my subconscious from some contact or other which I do not now remember (I was Edgar Cayce’s secretary, you see).

I’d appreciate very much knowing just what your line of interest is, what contact if any you have had with any phase of Edgar Cayce’s work.

Dear Mr. Cayce,

Please give a reading to Mr. [1759], a friend in whom I am interested. He has fiancial troubles as follow.

1. Within the next 10 days his allowance from his family will be discontinued.
2. Not employed at present time is a patient here.
3. Trying to get service connected disability allowance.
4. Will he marry (over) again?

Please do not acknowledge check in your letter as I don’t want him to know this. Also omit bulletins because after Jan. 1st he will probably be away.

Dear Mr. Cayce,

Received your letter of December 1st and thank you very kindly for your invitation to see you at the McAlpin Hotel. I regret that I will be on duty at that time.

The man whom I wrote to you about was born in Washington, D.C. He is more worried about financial conditions than a physical disability which he has. Is a patient at this facility for 2 1/2 years for advanced T.B. but this doesn’t seem to worry him.

He is interested in getting a total disability allowance from army service during the war. Also allowance being discontinued from family.
