This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 13th day of May, 1929, in accordance with request made by her husband.

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [176]. Now, in the physical forces of the body we find there are those conditions that are becoming abnormal for the body. The conditions have to do with the eliminations and as same have affected and do affect, specifically, organs of the body. In the action of eliminations there has become that condition wherein the blood supply, becoming so overcharged with drosses that too much is left in system, to the extent where it has allowed bacilli to become active in the organs and tissue of the system, as is seen especially in the lungs themselves. This effect is also seen in various portions of the system. Especially are the liver and kidneys involved in the condition; yet, as the conditions exist, taken in time, and with the proper administrations, under the proper conditions, directions and surroundings, this may not only be allayed, but may be ELIMINATED or eradicated to such an extent and degree that the system may respond to NORMAL reactions for the body; yet, allowed to become such that there will be the continued spreading of the condition - especially where the eliminations in other portions of the system, as is seen in the liver and kidneys, become so involved, there CANNOT be but one end - that, that the pulmonaries, breaking down under the conditions, and the other portions of body becoming so involved as to give the inactive forces as towards resuscitation, the opportunity to function the greater. Inactive, here, meaning the drosses to overlap or overcharge, and little vitality could be builded in the system.

2. To meet the needs, then, of the conditions at the present time, first we would remove the body from the present conditions and surroundings. Better were the body entirely in the open, or housed WELL - other than for plenty of the atmosphere and of the change in altitude, such as would be at or about Asheville, N.C.; and we would then give the body PLENTY of rest - lie in bed, but with plenty of air about the body; for at least six to ten weeks. During the time, give the body all of the milk warm from the cow that it can take. Taking at least twice each day a tablespoonful of codliver oil; using at times, when necessary, enemas, to keep and set up eliminations through the intestinal system. All of the orange juice, corn bread, beans, lentils, spinach, and such, that the body can take. The JUICES only of beef, as meats, should be taken - none of the flesh itself, but the juices of same.

3. For the conditions in throat, bronchials and lungs, use that of pure apple brandy - at least a half a gallon in a gallon charred container (wood), with sufficient of the space above the liquid to form gas. Keeping this well corked, but so prepared that the body may inhale the gases as come from this in evaporation, inhaling sufficient of this of evenings and mornings to feel the effects of same through the whole system.

4. Well, after the body begins with this, and is able to be up, to wear the Double X Radium pad. This will assist in eliminating the effects of the conditions from the system. At least a dozen oranges each day should be a portion of the diet. Do that, and we will bring the better normal conditions for this body. The changes in the positions of the body will necessitate the changing of the surroundings, for the HOME should be made near Asheville. Ready for questions.

5. (Q) Would the electric blanket called Magnecoil, made by The Magnecoil Co., Inc., of Salt Lake, Utah, be well to use? (A) This as is given [Double X Radium Pad] will be more effective, for the body needs the outside, and the active forces in the Radium Active Appliance are more effective in such conditions, see? While the blanket is very good in many conditions, but in this PARTICULAR condition that of a more local condition is needed to be set up. Hence the stimuli would be about the solar plexus, allowing the blood supply - from the Radium Active Appliance - to be through the liver and the kidneys, so that the establishing of the equilibrium of eliminations would be set up properly. The diet, the inhalation - which is both an antiseptic and a DESTRUCTIVE force for tubercular bacilli in the lung.

6. We are through for the present.

R1. 5/22/29 Husband wrote: “Your diagnosis rec’d and cannot express my appreciation for you and your co-workers. I have written for the Double X Radium Pad, and am giving her all the nourishment I can give her. I cannot, however, obtain any apple brandy, and there is no law whereby I can obtain any in any manner. I have found out by investigation that there is only a difference of 2% in climate conditions and that most of the arrestation is caused by lying in bed and the nourishment. Dr. DuBose says I am grabbing at straws, but I will have to do that, you know. I will be unable to go to this section (Asheville) unless there is a possibility of getting a job sufficient to furnish her with the necessary things she needs. I am working toward that end now. I also have an equity in a house that I would not like to lose. I am perfectly willing to do so, however, if I can accomplish what I desire. I am writing Atlanta jobber and will also write to Asheville. I have been referred to Black Mountain sometime ago, but I find that the small place is not a good place to locate. However, I am going to do all I can.”

R2. 1/6/30 Husband wrote: “I have at last been able to acquire the Radium Pad. Due to circumstances I have not been able to get away from here or to do other than follow your instructions as best I could. General kidney trouble has set in with the swelling of the feet… Did not feel like writing you sooner, knowing I could not follow your instructions in full.”

R3. 2/18/30 Husband wrote that Mrs. [176] died on 2/13/30.

B1. 4/24/29 Husband’s letter: “I would like for you to answer a few questions for me. Dr. Goodwin DuBose has diagnosed my wife’s trouble as incurable T.B.

“I would like to know if change of climate would do her any good, and where? The only reason I have stayed here is that I had to exchange climatic conditions for possible nourishment due to crowding of health seekers working for low wages. There is a lady here with an electric magnetic blanket who claims she can benefit and cure. These blanket outfits cost $100, and while I want to do everything I can I do not want to spend money for nothing. If you do recommend a change of climate, advise where it will be possible to make the right business connection so I can provide the necessary nourishment. I am trying to get out of the shop here so I can make more money, but it seems that I can’t make it somehow. If you advise staying here, state treatment, if any.”

B2. 5/8/29 He verified appointment, saying: “The electric blanket, called Magnecoil, is made by the Magnecoil Co., Inc., of Salt Lake, Utah, in that it promotes perfect elimination and restores health by application of the energy of radiation and is supposed to give off the Infra-Red Rays. It has been recommended by many sufferers here, but I do not wish to do anything that will not be best for my wife.”
