This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 19th day of December, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [1761], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. Annie Monk; also attended N.Y. meeting.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 11:00 to 11:15 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, N.Y.

GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions she has submitted, as I ask them.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [1761].
-
Now, as we find, the disturbances have been and are the gradual growth of disturbing factors; from the lack of proper balance through the assimilating and eliminating system; until the involvement has become in some respects constitutional, and in others more of specific disturbances in the FUNCTIONING of organs, as well as the inclination for the SEPARATING of disturbing conditions by the activity of the lymph.
-
This, as we find, SHOULD respond to applications; though should it NOT, and continue to give disturbance, THEN the body should be and would be builded through the application of the suggestions here made to such a condition that there would be the ability for the removal of same by operative forces WITHOUT too great a disturbance to the system.
-
These then are conditions, as we find them with this body, [1761], we are speaking of:
-
The BLOOD SUPPLY indicates the nature of the disturbances through the assimilating and eliminating forces. By the very nature of same we find the separating of conditions, as indicated in the lymph through the trunk or torso portion, as well as disturbances in the eliminating forces in the activity of kidneys as well as alimentary canal; disturbing the organs in the pelvic system.
-
But these, as indicated, SHOULD respond to those applications which we will give here for the rebuilding, as well as for creating a normal balance in the system.
-
In the NERVOUS SYSTEM itself, - here we find the reflexes from poisons and toxic forces producing at times varied reactions to the system, in the form of activity upon the nerve forces through the very nature of the pressure of poisons in the circulatory force, as well as the reflexes to the association or coordination between the cerebrospinal and sympathetic nervous system which respond so as to indicate a disturbance in the general nervous system.
-
As to the ORGANS themselves, - here we find, as has been indicated, there are those expressions of disturbing forces by nervous reactions as well as organic functionings, as to produce the functional disturbance in the liver, the spleen, the pancreas, the kidneys; and at times, of course, the bladder, as is related to those activities of the nervous system.
-
Poor eliminations through alimentary canal, those activities in the functioning of the assimilating system, producing a NERVOUS indigestion.
-
All of these, as we find, at times become effects of the disturbance, and at others appear to be causes; owing to those reactions in the body.
-
As we find, then, first:
-
We would have at least three to five colonic irrigations. The first two would be given about ten days apart, then the rest would be given - the other three or four about two weeks apart.
-
After the third such colonic irrigation, we would begin with the low electrical vibrations of the Diathermy, as to so heat the body as to cause the breaking up of the lymph disturbance, - and through the continued improvement in the eliminating system to eliminate the poisons as would be begun for activity in the system with such applications. These, the Diathermy treatments, should be about a week apart.
-
With at least the second Diathermy treatment, we would also begin with the general manipulative forces with corrective measures made in lumbar, sacral, 9th dorsal and, of course, coordinating the upper dorsals and cervicals with same.
-
These applications, as we find, may be administered through such as Miller.
-
And with the diets we need to keep a proper balance, - that is; do not take any fried foods. Do not take too great quantities of starches. Beware of raw apples or bananas, though either of these cooked would be very well for the body.
-
Do these for at least a period of three months. Then we may give that as would be the necessary activity for the rest of corrective forces; and it would be indicated then as to whether or not there is the necessity for operative measures.
-
The electrical forces should disseminate the condition, and with the other activities eliminate disturbance.
-
When there is a disturbance in the digestive forces, use Alcaroid as a digestant; half or a quarter teaspoonful taken about twenty minutes after the meal when there is any fullness or inclination for formations of gas in the system.
-
The colonics should be with water body-temperature, and soda-salt solutions; that there may be the purification of the alimentary canal.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) In case an operation becomes necessary - (A) (Interrupting) This, as indicated, had best be left for consideration - if the other things are done - until after the three months period. THEN it may be given as to whether this is necessary or not. It is BETTER NOT to be, if the applications as here suggested are made and there will be the correction of blood pressure, blood supply for the system; and the system SHOULD be built up by the use of these suggested.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 12/23/38 [1761]‘s letter to EC:
“I am hastening to reply to your report. Thank you so much for your efforts in my behalf. That condition of the gall bladder that you speak of is just a temporary condition, because I drank some liquor (which I never do) a few months ago, and have had a congested gall bladder, but feel much better, as I was under the doctor’s care. That was not what I was referring to. I wanted to be operated on for an inward goitre after the first of the year, but wanted your help and advice on the following, which has been giving me terrific pain for the past number of years. I suffer terribly with pain on the right side of my face and head; also down as far as my collarbone, but most pain is on right side of face and head. It seems the doctors cannot diagnose any cure for that, and God knows, I am not myself since being stricken with that pain. Can you help me, dear friend? I thought, being I was going to the hospital to have that goitre removed, if there was anything else to be done, it could be done at the same time. Please do try to help me…”
“P.S. Please answer my questions: Which surgeon is better for the goitre operation: Dr. Koster of Brooklyn, or Dr. Ralph Kolp of New York?”

Background
B1. 12/14/38 Letter: ”…At this time I wish a physical reading. I would like the dear ones from the higher side of life to give me a complete diagnosis of my physical condition, and to please tell me by divine instructions, the medications, treatments, or whatever is necessary for a complete bringing back to perfect health for me…
”…Also, in case I need an operation, which doctor shall I choose? Dr. Koster of Brooklyn, or Dr. Kolp of New York? I thank the dear loved ones who will help me. Also, you, dear Mr. Cayce, as their instrument…”
B2. 12/14/38 [1761]‘s second letter: “I wrote you a letter and posted it a few minutes ago. I forgot to ask a question. If I need an operation, shall I have Dr. Kolp of New York operate or Dr. Koster of Brooklyn? When I have my reading, please have Mr. Cayce give me the answer - which doctor is best for me to have operate…”
