This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 19th day of May, 1942, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [1770], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 9:25 to 9:50 A. M. Eastern War Time. Seattle, Washington.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1770]; this we have had before.

3. As we find, while conditions are not yet so serious, there are changes since last we had same here that are not so good for the better physical forces of the body.

4. Much that has been indicated in information for this body should be taken into consideration with the suggestions that may now be given.

5. In understanding the upsetting conditions which have existed, and which tend to recur under the seeming lack of any cause, some of the reactions in the blood supply - as related to glandular systems and the variation existing between sympathetic and cerebrospinal system - might be interrupted for the body here.

6. Each portion of the body - as the sensory system; as the activity of lungs, heart, liver or kidneys, as well as digestion or assimilation and distribution of that assimilated - reproduces through the body from that assimilated not only the supplying forces for various functionings of the complex activities of the body, but rebuilds itself. The greater portion of this, to be sure, is carried on through the blood systems; that is, the lymph, the emunctory, as well as the flow of white and red blood corpuscles, as well as the leukocyte or that form in the lymph that aids in shielding or creating coagulation, or of putting over strained areas the protective forces in the use of any portion of the body, - whether it be the muscular tendon or the activities in even the impulse of emotion or body-force itself.

7. The greater portion of this, to be sure, is carried on in the activity of the glandular system, but as combined with the manner in which the chemical forces THROUGH the assimilation of food values, or chemical forces in the body, are capable of supplying same.

8. Here we find there have been some deficiencies in these directions. This activity of cutting out of the system certain elements to prevent certain activities, or in the form of not only a reducing but of the lack of plasm-producing forces in the body, has proven to have gone too far. 9. Thus there has been a decreasing of this supply of force in the system to create the sufficient quantities of hormones in the blood force to supply these elements.

10. Hence the thinned or weakened conditions from strain, cold, congestion, or from undue exercise of portions of the body, tend to leave those portions subject to infectious forces from which the body may come in contact even with same through the air or in the influences about the body.

11. Thus there are forms of strep, or forms in the blood that have attacked portions of this plasm in the lymph, the emunctory AND the coagulating or strep of the nature as to ward against the leucocyte plasm in the stream.

12. Because of certain quantities or ABUNDANCE of certain elements, there is indicated that splotches have become noticeable in portions of the body. This is especially true in portions where the skin is exposed in the circulation; that is, hands, arms, neck, face. Or, if there would be sun baths (which have at times proved most beneficial), these would appear on other portions of the body the same.

13. The form of the sulfa drug, or injections, or capsules, has caused the accumulation. Hence for the body these are not the best in the present, though there ARE conditions where such might be most beneficial. But with the tendency of the assimilating system, and with the excess of forms of iron or silicon in the system, these produce disturbing or unsightly conditions at times.

14. These, then, are the forces as WE find necessary for the body in the present:

First, - we would have some three or four thorough hydrotherapy treatments; these about every three to four days apart; including a colonic to cleanse the colon of those excesses that have been thrown off in the system, and that tend to accumulate through this slowing process. This is better than the attempting to create, in the present, sufficient lymph to produce same, - as from minerals or salts or the like.

16. Follow the colonic with a very MILD sweat; that is, the dry heat, to form a perspiration to the exterior or superficial circulation - just sufficient to begin this. THEN use - in the cabinet - the vapor or fume bath; that is, sufficient Witchhazel in a pint of boiling water (as in a croup cup or in an Open container under the body), to form the vapor over the whole skin - from the steam that arises from same, see? Then there would be a thorough rubdown given, using an equal combination of Peanut Oil and Olive Oil, as measures for food for the skin itself and for the superficial circulation. Of course, in the end, there should be the alcohol rub to close the pores of the skin.

17. Each day take internally - preferably at two, three or four o’clock in the afternoon - half a teaspoonful of Knox Gelatine dissolved in cold water (not in warm). This is as a supply of the vital forces necessary to aid, with this purification of the body, the assimilating from foods of those vital energies necessary.

18. Then, the diet:

19. Drink each day, as an aid to better elimination, plenty of citrus fruit juices, tomato juice, also sometime during the day kraut juice.

20. While not in excess, there should be taken plenty of fish, fowl and the like; lamb, but not so much of hog meats of ANY nature - not even the breakfast bacon, though this may be taken occasionally.

21. Plenty of rice cakes or popcorn cakes. Or corn bread, - this made with hot water and baked, preferably in corn pones or the like.

22. These are preferable to medicinal properties of either vegetable compounds or derivatives, or minerals, that might further upset the system.

23. As a gargle for the throat, as a spray (that is, in an atomizer - or just as a gargle), we would use Glyco-Thymoline. Even if portions of this are swallowed, it is also a good intestinal antiseptic.

24. These should bring in the present the better conditions for this body, [1770].

25. Do that.

26. Ready for questions.

27. (Q) Would Adiron be better for my system than the 2 capsules I am taking after each meal, presumably liver and iron, suggested by a physician? (A) Do not take ADIRON, as there has been a change in its composition that in the present, for this particular body, under existent circumstances, would NOT be so well.

And please leave off the other capsules for the present, as indicated.

28. (Q) Is Sal Hepatica harmful in any way, if taken every morning? (A) If we will do these, it won’t be necessary. Let’s not take this until there has been the full cleansing of the system. Use the kraut juice, which is just as saline and stimulates better elimination. Sal Hepatica - it depends upon the manner in which it is taken, as to whether it becomes a detrimental influence or not. For this body, a little later - this taken occasionally as an aid may help. This had better be according to instructions after the reactions are considered from these other suggestions, however.

29. (Q) What is cause of night sweating, and dizziness? (A) Poisons, and the accumulations through the system that should be eliminated by the use of the cabinet sweats and rubdowns and the forms of diet. This should disappear at least after the second or third of such rubs, but continue these for at least three to four - as indicated.

30. (Q) Any other advice? (A) Do these in the present for this body.

31. We are through for the present.

R1. 5/19/42 EC’s letter to Mrs. [1770]:

Dear [1770]

Certainly have missed your letter. May have overlooked some, but don’t think have, for try and answer each letter or card that I receive tho at birthday and Easter. There was so many

• may have skipped some, but don’t think would have missed one from you. Sorry you have not been feeling so good, and do hope the suggestions as gotten for you this morning will help. Hope [1771] is getting good results from the application of the suggestions for her. Hope she can get the Infra-red light tho that should be if at all practical. Must be some one there who gives that.

Yes - guess every body is busy these days. Strenuous days for us all - but only if we will get the spirit of help for our fellow man and not something as only for vengeance or the like. Am sure all will be much better, think tho you must have over done you self, and do hope you will soon be feeling a whole lot better.

Am sure you will, will you only take care and not do too much for a while until you get your self straight again.

Have had a busy spring. A friend was good enough to make it possible for us to have the lot and half next door to us toward the ocean - then, Miss Gladys has the next lot and 1/2. She intended building but the Gov. orders got a head of her, so have been cleaning this ground off and in the rear along the lake have enlarged garden and planted an orchard. Do love to see things growing and will some day be a real pretty place, I think. Garden is looking nice now - while a bit late - is coming along and my roses are lovelier than ever this year - that has kept me on the go and a bit strenuous for the old man! H. L. is still here. They have given him a lot of work to do, but he and Sally are looking for a stranger in Nov. The other boy Edgar Evans Cayce] received his commission as 2nd Lieut, and was sent on to Harvard to continue his work there for another three months. And as he says, “to think of being paid to go to Harvard!” But he is to be married the 13th of June - marries a little girl [Kathryn Bane] here - she works now in the bank [Nat’l Bank of Commerce] here. So, all in all, we have lots to think about. The 1st book [A SEARCH FOR GOD, Book I] of the Ass’n will be out now most any day. Then the book of my life THERE IS A RIVER] - the special edition will be out the 12th of Nov. so am running round in circles, wondering if am keeping quiet. Two other weddings [Edith Caroline Smith, granddaughter of Gertrude Cayce’s aunt, Mrs. Kate B. Salter Smith, to Paul Mayhew (she is daughter of Porter and Lisle Smith.] in the family also - one of those causing a hullabaloo [Gray Salter, son of William H. Salter, raised by his aunt, Mrs. Kate B. Salter Smith, to Margaret Anne Adcock.] - one of those kind [Mrs. Smith disapproved of the marriage.] so-so. There you are for a quiet day here about.

Yes - should you wish copies of the “Search For God” order direct from Mrs. Hannah Miller. Believe you will find this a most interesting book unique in many ways, and worth while. The interest has been excellent so far and book not yet out, but will be any day now.

H. L. is one that attends to the Bulletin. He just hasn’t gotten one out lately. Many are like yourself wondering what has happened. Think he will get one tho soon now as want to have a get-together meeting of Officers even with the new orders here in the East. We have to have that and will try and have one or two days, if at all possible.

Do let us hear from you. Think of you a lot, and miss hearing from you. Didn’t see [1861] and [2072] the last time they were down. But both were well when last heard. [2072] was taking care of house as Mrs. […] had gone on a visit. They have an Army camp at their town now and has changed the place. Am told are over run by people - when before was a quiet little place, have never seen the town save from the train.

R2. 6/9/42 Mrs. [1770]‘s letter to EC:

Tuesday

Seattle, Wash.

Dear Edgar:-

Your letter is dated May 19th - where the time goes - is more than I know - you’ve been in my mind and thoughts every day. Thank you so much for the prompt Reading. I’ve taken some of the recommended treatments - such as the sweat baths - but no colonic treatment - as the Dr. I went to would not give LESS than six treatments - & his charge was $25.00 - but I’ve taken the sauerkraut juice, and every now & then it reacts quite powerfully.

On the whole I am feeling more like myself - but find myself running low by mid afternoon - then I take the Knox Gelatin & fruit juice.

I have a new $3.00 bottle of Adiron on hand - now what am I going to do with IT??? At present I’m not taking any iron or liver pills or capsules of any kind - have a feeling my particular system will need something - I’ll have another check reading later on.

[1771]‘s knee seems some better - I hired an Infra Red Lamp - and she is using it every night.

The Gray Ladies - are asked to do many things - just now - we are registers - of CANNING sugar. One can spend hours doing it. Tomorrow I visit my boys - in the Marine hospital. They seem so pleased to see us - & I’m sure we are of some service.

Your news about Hugh Lynn & Sally is quite thrilling - and now another wedding! - you and Gertrude are fortunate in having your daughters ready made for you. I know you are both happy at both of the COMING events.

I can picture your garden & orchard along the lake - and I know how much care you will give to it - and when the CANNING season comes, you will be in your glory!

The roses in Seattle - are wonderful - and a joy to us both.

I’ll write more later, [1771] is listening to “Information Please,” - and I really can’t concentrate. Love to you & yours. [1770]

WISH I COULD ATTEND the ANNUAL CONGRESS! Must wait until “Peace” is declared.

R3. 6/15/42 EC’s letter to [1770]:

Dear [1770]

Thanks for yours of the 9th with enclosure, sure wish it were possible for you to be here for the Congress, - do hope you are feeling better. Just don’t get it - the way some part of the country do people about the colonics for instance - of course there are instances where possibly a body would need six such treatments - but very rare and for people to insist that people have them when possibly they would do more harm than good - well, suspect they do not know the pathology of the treatments in the first place - but who am I to question any one. Do hope tho you will be able to find some one who gives them properly and believe you will have real help with a few of those given correctly.

Personally - have found the Gelatine picks me up right now, and hope it fits in with your help also - but am sure there should be a few of the colonics - for the system when it tires so, naturally throws off used energies - forms like ash might in they system - and the alimentary canal get the worst of the bargain - hence the need for the help to aid nature to correct the system.

Would take the Adiron by all means - the information has said

• since the change in manufacture of the Adiron - it isn’t as good a product as it was at first. Let’s hope that you have is not the changed formula - wonder that people will do such things - but guess people look to make money not the help that prompted the compounding of the article at first.

Glad to hear [1771] is better - feel sure the light will help a lot. Just so she doesn’t try and use it too much. Of course a certain amount of us is necessary and help but too much might harm it.

Am sure it is a wonderful work the Gray Ladies are doing - hope will be able to get sugar when canning season is on here

• something I do like to do, but the help to the boys. My, am sure many of them bless you and give thanks for the help and encouragement you bring them.

Yes - think Gertrude and I have had so many changes in our thoughts and relations this year, well, we wonder which way we are heading. E. E. came down Friday night, one plane cancelled and he had to take taxi from Washington D.C. to Norfolk, arrive Sat morning about 3.30. They were married at the Church Saturday afternoon - her name was Katherine Bane

• a very pretty sweet little girl. They left at six on plane going to Boston - arrived in Boston 2.30 Sunday Morning - as E. E. has to be back in school this morning. They seemed very happy. A very sweet lovely wedding. Her two sisters came in with her, and her father gave her away. H. L. came in with E. E.

Yes, I love to see things grow - especially fruit and vegetables. Each tree and bush seem to know me when I come about them - so they are lovely living things to me each with as much of a mission as myself. If I give them the help they respond very lovingly.

My roses this year have seem to out do them selves even with the very very dry spring and summer thus far.

Thanks again for every thing. Did you get one of the books “A Search for God.” Please tell me what you think of it - know you have read the literature of many a group and the like. Would like your honest candid opinion of this as it is the first real literature the Assn has put out.

R4. 6/25/42 [1770]‘s letter to EC:

Seattle, Wash.

My dear Edgar:-

You were very close to us both - over the week end of the 20th. [1771] and I were up early on the 19th - tuning in

• to your meeting - at 10.30 Friday A.M. Wish I could have been there in person. I’m really getting home sick for my friends in the east - and I mean home sick. Have been very blue in spite of keeping myself busy - busy as a bee - doing Red Cross work - of all kinds.

The world news seems worse than ever - and the submarine sinkings is appalling! Secretary Knox has never had my vote

• somehow or other I’ve never had any faith in him. Can’t understand why! Wish they would boost him out of the Cabinet. It certainly is going to take all of our faith & prayers during the coming months.

Just returned this afternoon from The Marine Hospital - one poor fellow was terribly burnt, face & shoulders, an electric burn - how they can live, is beyond me!

[1771] did not receive the book “A Search for God.” I enclosed my check - covering her Reading & 1.00 extra for the book - or rather, I made out my check (as she has no checking account) & she enclosed it - in her letter to you. Perhaps she should have sent the money to the lady in Norfolk. Anyway, she hasn’t the book.

I’m looking forward to giving copies of it, as Christmas gifts.

Will be looking forward too - to the Bulletin - of the Congress. Don’t forget to send one down to me. Much love to you & Gertrude.

R5. 7/42 EC’s letter to [1770]:

Dear [1770]:

Glad to have yours of the 25th, I assure you we are just as lonesome for you as your are for this part of the country. The meeting Friday morning the 19th was excellent. Just hope those who kept the period with us caught something of the inspiration that seem to be shed over every one here. Have had marvelous reports tho from may parts of the country and believe that many did - just wish all might have been here. Had a very fine meeting. Possibly we are growing with the years, but every one said this was the best meeting yet, tho we didn’t attempt to have and special goal when began, just to keep the meetings together. Had quite a number from out of town and of course our local crowd is very faithful and were all present at one of other of the meetings or all. Have put you on the list of those wishing the Congress report so will be sent you soon as possible. Owing to the rush caused by the publication of - “A Search for God” and the preparation for “There is a River” the Story of my life. The office is very much crowded with work, and H.L. who should be able to give some time to it, is kept so busy with the Recreation dept of the Town. Makes it slow for us as the office force is very limited just now for many reasons, but will make it soon I hope.

Sorry of the bit of delay in sending the Book to […] but goes in this mail and believe you will find it not bad, but really excellent, the requests for these are on the increase as we get them out, and am more than pleased with the reports form those who have read them. Please let me have your reaction won’t you???

Yes, the reports are serious, but am persuaded we will have many an anxious period as yet. Will we all however TRUST IN GOD AND DO THE RIGHT, all will be well in the end. Had some serious experiences off our coast as well as yours. For days no one able to get in water - the oil on water and send along the Beach.

The Book - “There is a River” the story of my life will be out the 12th of Nov. That is the special edition.

R6. 7/21/42 [1770]‘s letter to EC:

My dear Edgar-

I’m certainly a procrastinator these days - that is - as far as letter writing is concerned. When I leave the house at 9.45 A.M. to attend a lecture on Home nursing - or on Occupational Therapy somehow I’m never in the mood for letter writing upon my return. The Search for God - is a beautiful book & I must have my very own copy - won’t you autograph one for me? & be sure to put both our names on the list - for copies of the special edition of the book “There is a River.” I enjoy reading “A Search for God just before going to sleep

• & [1771] likes to read in bed too, so we must have our own copies.

I’m going to make a list of those whom I want to send the book to (as gifts for Christmas - I’ll send the order to Mrs. […] ??).

[1771] had a wonderful weeks rest, at Orcas Island, the guest of Mr. Davis & his wife. Mr. Davis was 85, on July 4th. He is as bright as a button - & loves FISHING. [1771] proved to be a good fisherman too. She wrote, that her brain was on a vacation too - for she couldn’t remember of thinking of anything - while she was fishing!!! She returned refreshed in mind & soul & as brown as a berry. She has another week coming to her - & has been invited there again. We went to Fort Lewis together last Friday evening - & Saturday night, three soldier boys were with us until 1:30 A.M. How they appreciate a home atmosphere. They were boys from New Jersey.

We are having heavenly summer days - went on a picnic Sunday afternoon & returned just as the sun was setting over the Olympia Mts. I gave a prayer of thanks for its beauty.

God grant that peace & beauty will be ours - in place of war & chaos.

R7. 7/24/42 EC’s letter to [1770]:

My Dear [1770]:

Thanks for yours of the 21st. Am mailing the Book today. Glad that you like it. Have had some very lovely reports from friends here and there. Have been anxious to know what you thought of it, as feel you are more competent to judge its worth than most people. You will have the notices of the other book soon. We have promised to keep the list as the application for the book is received, so guess have to conform to that in a way, but will remember you in the list and have you as low a number as practical.

Don’t wonder at your not being long on letter writing with all the activities you carry on. Just don’t over do yourself. [1771] must have had a lovely trip. Would like to be in on a good fishing trip. Have only had one day of it this year, and then not such a good one. A good outing like that does any one good am sure. Very few of us take as many of them as we should.

Have some friends here from Washington, Mr. and Mrs. Poss [Louis B. and Marguerite Poss] been here a week. They are having a great time of it, very lovely people. [1861] and [2072] were here Wednesday for the day. Both are looking much better. [2072] had a check up on her life reading, both are fine. Think a great deal of them.

Yes, have a lot of the boys come about the here. They are lonesome, many of them, and how they do like to talk to people. They have special service at the Church for them and they come home with Miss Gladys.

Miss Gladys goes to housekeeping [with her mother and brother Burt, at 601-17th St.] 1st of next month. They (the groups) gave a shower for her Tuesday night. My what a bundle of things she got, all very lovely to her, but she has been very very faithful all these years.

H. L. and Sally are with us just now - as they rented their home for the summer. Sally just came back from three weeks visit to her old home - are expecting Edgar Evans and Kate tomorrow or Sunday. He has finished at Harvard - made the Grade all OK and is being assigned to some place in Fla.

R8. 8/2/42 [1770]‘s letter to EC:

Seattle, Wash.

Sunday.

My dear Edgar:-

The Congress Bulletin arrived - and its contents is very interesting - it gives one so much food for thought. Were your ears burning Friday evening?

I was talking about YOU - & reading from your letters or talks to the groups gathered at the Congress meetings. I’ve sown a seed, and only God knows whether it will grow.

[1771] returned from her second vacation trip browner than ever & with a seven pound Salmon & fresh vegetables from the garden. We gave two dinner parties & the fruits of her labors were delicious.

She had a real thrill catching and landing (all by herself) a twenty two & a half pound King Salmon. Daddy Davis (85 years young) was proud of her. She’s had a feeling for boats & the water, and at last she had had her desires gratified.

My Book (my own copy) has not arrived as yet. [1771] wishes that you had autographed her copy.

After reading a bit the other evening, I heard her saying to herself “I’m going to enjoy reading this book.”

[1771] wishes to have her own copy of “There is a River.” Please put her on the SPECIAL list.

What do you mean “Miss Gladys goes housekeeping.”?? Is she married or going to be and are you losing her valuable services? She is one of the sweetest persons I ever met and if she is being married - please give her my sincerest wishes for deserved happiness.

Your home will be filled again when the children all come home. What changes have occurred in the past year.

So many young people are marrying trying to snatch what happiness they can in this war torn world.

Do see Mrs. Miniver. It is beautifully done. One of the finest pictures I’ve seen in a long time.

Greer Garson is a light - a radiant soul - & a pleasure to see. All the characters are splendid & it preaches many lessons.

We are enjoying an unusual amount of sun shine for Seattle.

Funny - I heard Dr. Sester H. McRorie preach at “The New Age Fellowship.” He mentioned & quoted Glenn Clark & sent me Glenn Clark’s booklet “Does God Hear Prayer.” I’d never heard of Glenn Clark before & you wrote of hearing him at a meeting. Has he a real message to give? Could he give the lady any message from her sons?

R9. 8/5/42 EC’s letter to [1770]:

My Dear [1770]:

Good to have yours of the 2nd. Glad you liked the Congress report, not quite so full as some years, but the meet its self had a “Spirit” that could never be put on paper, yet as some said it was the last quiet Congress. So you have been talking about me have you. Thank you, just hope it was nice and just like I feel about you, then we may leave it like that, and some day it will grow the seed of truth, and if our words haven’t found lodgement as yet, it just isn’t time for it as yet.

Glad [1771] had such a lovely trip, to have caught and landed a fish like that would have been worth a whole trip to me. Caught one once in Maine [fall of 1930] that weighed 12 1/2 and it was a red letter day for me. Am sure she was thrilled. Very lovely to have a body like [1771] say such about the book “A Search for God,” but we have had some such lovely comments - one group of people in the Ohio Pen- has taken it for a text book. Isn’t that fine. Headed by the man who had an article in the July Literary Digest.

I’ve put you both on the list for the “There is a River”. Have just gotten through sending out the notices of the book and already orders have begun to come in from far and wide. Not such a deluge as yet but think it will be well distributed at least. Then if all will do as suggested in the reading on same, well possibly won’t be bad for the regular edition.

No, Miss Gladys isn’t getting married as yet. She and her brother have bought a home here at the Beach and are making a home for her Mother so she will begin housekeeping now soon as she can get her furniture in. No, am afraid we would be lost now with out Miss Gladys to write the readings.

Changes - yes, the sage was right when he wrote “This too will pass away,” for changes come. Have heard some one else speak of the picture - will try and see it. That there seemed to be no message - was a disappointment to me - but was me am sure and not Mr. Clark.

R10. 10/13/42 [1770]‘s letter to EC:

My dear Edgar:-

Its time I had a chat with you, tho I must confess time for “chats” are very few these busy days.

I’ve just had my orange juice & Knox Gelatine for added energy - have such a late breakfast these days. I drink the orange juice & gelatine in between times. My dinner hours is 5 P.M. I eat in state, alone, for I must be at my work by 6 P.M. & [1771] comes home just after I’ve gone.

Oh! yes we do see each other, but usually one of us is sleeping. It’s a great life, if one can stand it.

I’m keeping up my Gray Lady duties as well as the house keeping laundry, marketing, cooking etc., so you see, my correspondence is bound to be neglected.

Almost forgot to tell you the nature of my work. Am employed by the U.S. Postal Dept. working at the Army Post Office. My hours are from 6 to 11 P.M. supposedly, but its usually midnight or even one o’clock before I leave. Sometimes a rush of mail comes in at 11 P.M. & we hate to keep the boys waiting ANOTHER day for their precious letters. They do mean so much to them.

I’m standing most of the time - and Oh! me, my poor legs & back - the first few nights!!! Had awful cramps in those limbs at first but all is well now. We get accustomed to everything in time.

I must admit that I’m tired, especially my eyes, as we work by artificial light & we must read every letter correctly & assign it to the rightful place before sending it on to Alaska, Australia or the Aleutians. My eyes are probably feeling the strain.

My first check was a real thrill, and all but 21 cents of it went into War Stamps.

My income will not stretch to include “War bonds,” added taxes etc., so my pay checks will be assigned to that purpose.

Only hope that my health will continue to be on the up & up.

That leads up to another “Reading.” Your last reading discouraged my taking Cod Iron - but - as I had a full bottle on hand, I’ve used it, but I realize full well that my system needs iron - liver - vitamines - in some form or another, so that’s one of my questions. What shall I take to replace Cod Iron?

2 - Should I have eyes examined for stronger glasses? (I wear glasses constantly while working - reading etc.)

3 - Condition of blood stream - glandular system, etc. just a check up & of my NERVOUS SYSTEM. Find myself easily upset & a bit cranky - in fact I just had to give myself a good talking to this morning. Give me the Reading whenever you have the time. I’m always sleeping (I hope) when you lie down for your morning Reading (that 7.30 A.M. here & I seldom wake before 9 AM - just as [1771] is leaving for work.

4 - What to use on my dry rough hands?

Its a great thrill when we can dine together & we usually do on SUNDAYS, tho I work on that day too (5 P.M. to midnight.)

Monday evening is my night off, as our Symphony concerts come twice a month - on Monday evenings and music is a tonic for my soul.

Saturday evening after midnight I heard three separate flocks of geese wending their way southward. They knew that winter was at hand, for the weather or temperature dropped the very next day.

Our days have been glorious - my only regret being that I cannot get out for a long walk. I stand long enough each evening - so must rest when I can.

I know these are anxious days for so many people & I know too, that you are bringing aid and comfort & assurances to many who believe.

When ever you can, squeeze me in - I mean “My Reading.”

Dear Edgar Cayce:-

It certainly seems, “ages”, since I’ve had a letter from you - and I’ve not intentionally neglected you.

[1771] says you wrote that I’ve treated you as an orphan child, but some how - I’ve had the feeling that you owed me a letter. Sent you an Easter card - greeting - hope you received it - but these days, the mail isn’t always reliable. I’ve been so busy - with Red Cross - Gray Lady

• & Senior Hostessing. The latter keeps me up so very late. Guess I got over tired - for about two weeks ago
• I came down with a sceptic [septic] sore throat. Called in a physician - & after taking a sample of my blood - said that my “red blood homegobelins” [hemoglobins] - were below par - & that’s why - I caught the germ.

Thought I was well - & did Gray Lady duty at the Marine Hospital - on Wednesday last, Red Cross bandaging all day Thursday - Gray Lady lecture Friday - & Senior Hostessing - at Fort Lawton in the evening - with the result! -

Back in bed again Saturday with my throat sore on both sides & the middle!

“Off again” - “on again” - “out again” - “in again” - that’s a good name for me these days.

I certainly feel that I do need a Reading but when you’re so miserable - you feel that Virginia is far far away - & take the fellow nearest at hand.

I’ve taken a dozen of those sulfamyizole [sulfathiazole] tablets - (can’t spell or even pronounce the word correctly). They have cleared up the soreness of my throat - but what else they’ve done - is beyond me.

[1771] has been taking, “Nurses Aide” - & getting practical experience at home. Seattle has been lovely - Dog wood trees every where - Cherry - apple - peach & pear trees - in every yard - bursting with blossoms - & now the Horse Chestnuts are like lighted Christmas trees & the lovely Hawthornes - a delight to see. Rhododendrons are everywhere - & the new green of the shrubs & trees - just heavenly.

It is really a beautiful city of homes - lakes - hills & mountain vistas - snow clad - & inspiring.

I’m in bed - with the telephone book on my lap - so if my writing seems queer, you know the reason why.

You have been in my thoughts so often these days - hope you & yours have been well during the past months.

I really am working harder than I’ve ever done - house work

• cooking etc. Have no help - and have been glad I could do so - never knew. I was below par - felt just fine & until this thing - got me down.

A morning Reading would “catch” me snoozing too. I sleep in the double bed - [1771] has a single. She is using the hot applications & - I found the apple cider vinegar & she says, she can move the knee more. So far - we’ve been unable to get the use of an “Infra red Lamp” - but the salt - cider vinegar & hot applications - may be enough.

She plans to have a check up Reading soon.

I still owe on my monthly pledges - & will catch up soon I hope.

Insurance premium & income tax had to be paid - now my bank account is way down & I owe $72.00 on my storage in Flushing, which comes out of this month’s check - have patience with me & I’ll catch up with my promises & “Reading”.

I’m very much interested in the Book, “Search For God” - and want quite a few copies. It will make a wonderful Christmas gift - should I order them directly from Mrs. Miller, Norfolk, Va.?

I miss the monthly bulletins - perhaps I’m not eligible to receive them - how much are they - seem sort of cut off from you & your doings. - or the Society of Research & Enlightenment.
