GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions; also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1796].
-
As we find, there are disturbing conditions. These have existed for some time. They arise primarily from deflections that exist as lesions in the cerebrospinal system, especially in the upper dorsal and through the cervical area.
-
These, then, are conditions as we find them with this body, [1796] we are speaking of:
-
The blood supply indicates, as does the activity in the sensory system, that these deflections exist in the 1st and 3rd dorsal, the 3rd, 4th and 5th cervical; affecting the circulation to the organs of the senses - ears, eyes, nasal passages, and the upper portion of the head.
-
With their deflections, these allow the lack of proper drainages being set up.
-
Hence those conditions which have existed in portions of the soft tissue about ears (or mastoids), nasal passages, the antrum, and the throat - or the glands in same. All of these produce accumulations, or poisons, from lack of drainages.
-
Hence the activities to remove these did NOT remove the cause. Thus again there are those conditions of combativeness between the system’s attempting to adjust itself and those disturbances as indicated.
-
The BODY is below normal in weight. This is from lack of the abilities of the distribution of that assimilated, and from the drainages in the nasal passage and the throat - these keep down proper character of assimilation.
-
Thus a form of anemia in the blood supply also exists.
-
The combination of these cause the disturbances with this body, producing those deflected conditions as related to smell, or odor, the ringing in the ears - which arises from the deflection of nerve pressure as well as drainages. Easily the body takes cold, - the acidity or superacidity becomes a part of the disturbance.
-
All of these, combined with those reflex conditions to the general organism of the body, are producing the disturbances.
-
Unless these are removed they may cause the hindrance in the hearing, and such deflections as to cause a constant irritation that may take on that of catarrhal condition in stomach, intestines, lungs, or portions of the body where there are the larger or excess quantities of lymph circulation, - which is disturbed most by the character of the backing up, or the poisons in the body.
-
As we find, in going about to relieve these disturbances:
-
We would have, by such an one as Dobbins, some ten to fifteen thorough osteopathic adjustments; with the setting up of drainages especially to the eliminations.
-
At least three times each week, and preferably on successive days, take a tablespoonful of Milk of Magnesia - through the periods that this character of osteopathic treatment is given.
-
With the third or fourth osteopathic treatment, begin taking by self - or have it administered at home - the Violet Ray (hand machine, bulb applicator). At least twice or three times each week, when ready to retire, have one to three minutes of a gentle massage along the spine with the bulb applicator, - from the base of the brain to the end of the spine, on either side of spine rather than directly on the spinal column itself. Also use this around the throat; not back of the head, but around the throat and chest.
-
Do this.
-
Take small quantities of Atomidine to purify the system. This we would being at once. Take one drop in half a glass of water each morning before breakfast for five days, leave off five days and then take again. Continue taking it in this manner for at least three rounds, with the rest periods between, you see.
-
Then, after the Atomidine is completed, rest three to four days.
-
Begin then (not before) and take an ADIRON tablet with each meal, for at least two or three weeks. Do not take this while the Atomidine is being taken, but afterward.
-
In the matter of the diet:
-
Keep to those things that are more blood building, that supply especially the vitamins for blood coagulation, and blood and body building. Include oft in the diet such as broiled liver, fish, lamb - these all broiled or stewed. No fried foods.
-
Take plenty of carrots, yellow peaches, yellow corn. All of these, and foods that are yellow in color, should be a part of the diet - especially for the next three months.
-
Do all of these, and we will find we will bring near to normal conditions for this body, [1796].
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Any special exercises best for the body? (A) The general exercise; walking, a good deal of exercise in the water - all of these are good; but nothing special.
Do these and we will bring the better conditions for this body.
- We are through for the present.

R2. 8/11/41 [1796]‘s letter to EC:
…, Conn.
Dear Mr. Cayce,
We have received the reading, and both Mother and I have gone over it carefully. We feel that it undoubtedly points the way to better health for myself. After exhausting every doctor’s efforts to help me your advice seems most helpful and logical.
We plan to see the Dr. Dobbins that you specify in the reading and although we haven’t had much success in obtaining the medicines here in … we shall try in New York. As soon as possible I shall arrange to meet Mr. [257] and discuss the reading with him as I am sure he wishes me to do so.
Both Mother and I wish to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for doing this for me. Again our hopes for curing the ringing in my ears have been stirred.
Sincerely, [1796]
R3. 8/18/41 EC’s letter to [1796]:
Dear [1796]:
Thanks for yours of the 11th - feel very sure you will find Dr. Dobbins a very fine man and an excellent Dr., and that with the application of the suggestions fully you will receive real help.
Will be glad to hear from you from time to time, and hope you get as much help from the suggestions as so many hundreds tell us they have from theirs.
Hoping to have been of a service.
Sincerely, [signed] Edgar Cayce
R4. 11/5/41 [1796]‘s letter to EC:
Wednesday
Dear Mr. Cayce,
I have been meaning to write you for several weeks concerning my general condition, but my school work has interfered with all of my correspondence. I am busier this year with the various school activities than I have ever been in previous years.
My health has been excellent for the past few months. It’s certainly better than it has been for years. I feel as if I were getting more out of life. Enthusiasm seems to fairly bubble out of me, and I seem to be able to cope with my studies a bit more maturely this year.
Although I have been subjected to a few opportunities for catching cold, I am happy to say that a strong resistance has prevented any ailment.
I have been faithfully following your instructions, and at present I am using the violet ray lamp. I am sure that this treatment will do more for me than any other we have tried in previous years.
Again I do want to thank you for your kindness in giving me the reading.
R5. 11/7/41 EC’s letter to [1796]:
Dear [1796]:
Thanks very much for yours of the 5th - do hope it will be practical to meet you personally while we are in N.Y. this time. We will be with Mrs. Robert Emmit, 1 Grace Church St., Rye, N.Y. possibly some evening or at some time you and your Mother may be able to get in and see us even for few minutes. Am glad indeed to know you are feeling so well. Keep the good work up but all the Praise to HIM the Giver of all good and perfect gifts.
Be sure and come to the meeting Friday night the 14th at the Shelton Hotel.
With all good wishes [signed] Edgar Cayce
