This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 25th day of July, 1930, in accordance with request made by Gray Salter.

1. GC: You will have before you the Radio-Active Appliance, present in this room, and answer the questions which I will ask you regarding same.

2. EC: Yes. In the building of this, as we have had - and have given before - well that this, as has been outlined, be kept rather close. In some respects the present one, as we find, is good - excellent; but too heavy is the taping in and about same, see? While there should not be allowed the packing, or the charcoal about same, to come in contact, both with container and with the carbons as build up same, yet these may be made too heavy. It will also be found that, were there put over the top of those of the coverings, before the application of sealing wax, that of paraffin, these would be better. Of course, the BETTER combination would be to vulcanize same with rubber, see? rather than that of the sealing wax. All other connections, all other conditions, are very good. This vulcanizing may be accomplished very easily if a vulcanizing machine is used for same, or a RUBBER machine, see?

3. (Q) Is the container properly made? (A) Container is very good. Be better if it were square.

4. (Q) Is this Radio-Active Appliance made up according to specifications? (A) Well, this has just been given - that there is too much bandage about same. This will ACT, but it PREVENTS that of the USAGE of same to its maximum usage, or requires that there be a LONGER period in the cooling of same; but IMMEDIATELY same is put in the ice, there begins - with the connection to the body - a change in both the appliance and the body, see?

VIBRO-ELECTRIC APPLIANCES by Gray Salter

Fifteen years ago, suggestions were given in a reading through Mr. Edgar Cayce for making an appliance carrying a low electrical vibration which would be helpful in treating disturbances of the nervous systems. Since 1925, experimentation and research have improved the usefulness and widened the possible application of these appliances. The following will present briefly the results of the work in this field:

Let us compare the nervous systems to telegraph systems, with the brain as the central receiving and sending station. Within a human body there is the central nervous system, consisting of the brain and the spinal cord; and the peripheral system, consisting of the cerebrospinal and sympathetic nerve fibers. The brain sends and receives messages along the large spinal cord which in turn is connected at various plexuses or stations with the nerves of the cerebrospinal and sympathetic which pass to all parts of the body, forming a complete network of tiny nerve fibres. Along the various branches of this network vibrations pass with lightning rapidity to and from the various sub-stations and the central station, the brain. In the telegraph system, a weak place or break in the wires will cause a short-circuit. Transformers or boosters are used to boost up messages over long distances. In the body, a strain or binding will cause incoordination. Impulses, as messages, will not reach the different parts of the body properly. The circulation is thus affected and inflammation results.

All matter, whether organic or inorganic, has a period of vibration or frequency. When this is changed, the entire structure changes and a reaction takes place. For example, water may be heated until it is reduced to steam. The vibratory rate or period of frequency has been altered. Every particle of matter has its peculiar vibratory rate.

The first type of appliance which we have developed operates much on the order of the grid of a radio tube. The current is taken from the body and carried to the appliance by the use of a small anode attached to the body. The temperature of the appliance is lower than that of the body. The charge is built up on a plate and at a certain point transferred to the body through another connected anode, thus completing the circuit. The construction of the appliance makes it possible for these to be regular and even in pulsation. Thus, a low electrical current can be taken into the body without discomfort or tensing of the nerves and muscles as results from contact with most electrical currents. It tends to relax and relieve strain. This type of appliance is used where the whole system has been under strain, and where there is need of equalizing the vibratory rate of the whole body.

The value of this appliance lies in its equalization of the EXISTING vibratory rate of the body. As we have already noted, strain of any kind will produce incoordination at various centers of the connecting nervous systems. By passing the natural current from the body through this equalizer, opportunity is given for the rebuilding of the part affected.

There is a definite relation between the vibrations of a body and the circulation. The blood, traveling in a figure eight, passes through the liver at least twice before going to and from the extremities. Thus, it is through the extremities that the effect of low temperatures may first be noted. It is to the extremities that this type of appliance is attached. In equalizing the vibratory rate of the body the circulation is immediately affected.

It has been found that this same type of appliance can be used for curative purposes as well as for prevention through general equalization. This is accomplished by so placing minerals in the appliance as to allow the current from the body to pass through them thus returning to the body carrying a completely changed vibration which will produce a definite reaction. This is especially useful where an incoordination between the cerebrospinal and sympathetic nerves exist and a complete change of vibration is needed to produce a normal flow of impulses.

Other very beneficial aids may be given in conditions where the sensory system is affected, or where prenatal conditions have caused improper reactions in the genitive system. In such conditions special minerals are used on connection with the appliances. It is necessary, of course, to alter the positions of the anodes for each type of condition. The plexuses along the spinal column are the points at which the anodes are placed in treating sensory conditions, while the umbilicus center and the base of the brain are the points for genitive conditions.

The readings have given (and experience has proven) that this appliance is very valuable as a preventative for colds; and is especially effective in relieving insomnia, tiredness and overwrought nerves.

The second type of appliance with which we have experimented is built up on a slightly different principle from the first mentioned. This appliance builds up within itself a low form of electrical vibration and combines this with the vibration from the body, thus adding strength and force when needed. It also can be adapted to carry vibrations from elements suspended in its solution. It is particularly stimulative to the glands of the body and through it elements needed for increased activity of the glands may be added. Like the first appliance, it is connected to the body by two anodes, one positive and one negative. These anodes are attached to poles suspended in a solution which generates a low form of vibration (electricity). As in the first appliance, no definite sensation results from its application.

These appliances have been used in over a hundred cases of various kinds. While it has been difficult to carry on thorough research without the backing of an institution which would furnish the correct background for these experiments, considerable has been accomplished. Both those associated with the research work in this field ad those who have used the appliances have been convinced that great possibilities lie in the development of these appliances.

Science is just beginning a study of the treatment of disease through similar methods. Comparatively little is known of the functions of the ductless glands which are so influenced by vibratory forces. The brain itself, the vital center of the whole nervous system, readily responds to alterations in vibrations passing through it. We believe the day will come very soon when a brain can be literally rebuilt through such methods as described in the above appliances.

The compilation of data and complete checks on individual cases are most difficult in work of this kind. Constant, patient application is necessary to produce results. Time is of little importance, however, when considering the results which may be achieved. There is a real opportunity for the expansion and development of this means of relieving many of the so-called incurable diseases of mankind.
