Religious Preference: “Universal”) This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 28th day of January, 1939, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [1804], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. [2091] and Mr. Hugh Lynn Cayce.

Born March 21, 1886, in New York City. Time of Reading 11:10 to 11:45 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth’s plane; giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity and that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions he has submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: (In going back over the years from present - ” - ‘35, yes - changes - broken up - ‘19, yes - ” etc., on back to birth date.)

3. Yes - we find the records here of the entity here, now called, [1804].

4. The entity’s life design in the present would be a shield, a harp, and a helmet above same, with retort on either side of harp.

5. This indicates then something of the influences as find themselves in the innate and manifested experience of the entity in the present.

6. One quite sensitive to vibrations.

7. Once close to those activities that have to do with the psychic forces.

8. One that would make material success in applying mechanotherapy or its kindred experience in applying healing arts to same.

9. Whenever attempting to locate disturbances, have low music being played, - very low but of that nature which would give the vibrations to the entity.

10. Then we will find a greater sensitiveness in the abilities for the application of self as in relationships to others.

11. One that will find music as an outlet for self in a great many ways and manners.

12. And whenever there are the periods of depression, or the feeling low or forsaken, play music; especially stringed instruments of every nature. These will enable the entity to span that gulf as between pessimism and optimism.

13. Keep optimistic as much as possible. Know that as ye give out ye receive, and that alone as ye have given away do ye possess.

14. In interpreting not only the life plan but the astrological aspects, we find the entity very close to what is termed the cross between the Piscean and the head or the Ram influence. These become then the extremes; one the healer, the other - in this particular experience - the music; or the leader or director.

15. These two influences come then as a part of the entity’s experience.

16. In Venus we find the sympathy, and the abilities to make for friendships. And if you would have friends, show self friendly. These become a part of the entity, bringing the closer relations and those activities in the paternal (?) influence as well as associations in relationships with others; that will bring, if they are applied in constructive manner, greater influences and forces for the entity materially, mentally and spiritually.

17. Those influences from Jupiter as we find become the greater, but upon individuals, - as related to individuals rather than the larger groups; yet showing an influence in whatever choice of activity is to be to the public or the laity, rather than groups or masses or the like.

18. In Neptune we find the influences such that the large bodies of water should be close to the dwelling of the entity.

19. Specialize in those things and fields of activity in which especially the mucous membranes of the body are made a part of the activity. While the studies in the present relate to kindred natures and as related to the sympathetic and cerebrospinal nervous system, get their relationship more with the lymph and emunctory flow; and you will find the greater sensitivity, making for those abilities to make corrections that will bring not only satisfaction to self in relationships to others but bring the greater comfort and help and aid to those whom the entity may aid in this particular experience.

20. As to the sojourns in the earth, these we find quite varied in their outer aspects; yet these as we find are quite well correlated with the activities in the present experience or sojourn.

21. Before this we find the entity was in the land during the early activities of the kings, or the lordly persons in France.

22. There we find the entity was a close associate of the king; not as a valet, - rather a friend, a counsellor; yet not in authority, but a close associate of the king.

23. In those experiences we find the entity acted in the capacity of what might be said to be the furnishing of entertainment, or saying who or who not the king might interview at those particular periods when not particularly associated in the affairs of State.

24. The name then was Van Hausen; and of those peoples who made for contacts, - yet the entity brought help to the many.

25. In the present then the entity is GIVEN to being able to make a good contact individual with groups or individuals or activities of most every nature.

26. Before that we find the activities were during those periods which preceded the banishment of the peoples from the Palestine land.

27. The entity then was a priest, not of the sacrificial order but rather of those who made the examination of and accepted the offerings of those who were cleansed from divers diseases or disturbances.

28. There the entity acted in the capacity rather of the advisor and counsellor respecting such.

29. For to such the entity established rather what later became the physician’s service to peoples in their various disturbances physically and mentally.

30. Hence in the present we will find abilities in those directions of the healing arts, especially where there is the application of mechanotherapy or mechanical appliances as combined with the laying on of hands, or adjustments, or things as would pertain to direct contact with the physical body of other.

31. The name then was Juhuah. In the experience the entity gained throughout, yet when these were turned into selfish motives or purposes for the satisfying of the own self, disturbing forces were brought.

32. Hence the needs for the entity in the present to make the associations and activities where the consideration is greatly given to the masses or the public or individuals. And in the application of self keep same in that direction where no censure may ever be made.

33. Before that we find the entity was in the land now known as or called the Egyptian, during those periods when there were the preparations for the peoples of the Jewish faith or order to leave the land.

34. The entity then was among those who would be termed the soothsayers of Pharaoh, and noted the activities, - and the applications of influences and forces by the leaders of the Israelites or Jews at the experience.

35. Hence we find the entity attempting to embrace especially the faith and the laws of those peoples, - but as would be applied to the reason and understanding rather than from the spiritual import. Thus confusion was brought to the entity during the experience.

36. In the present, then, there is all the more necessity that there be the spirituality and the mental forces applied in those directions; yet making for those attitudes and innate influences which would induce or bring to the experience of the entity the abilities in those directions of the healing arts; especially in those things that would be by the application of the hand or of the arts as pertain to hidden or secret forces.

37. The name then was Melchor.

38. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, then, and that to which it may attain, and how:

39. As has been indicated, keep those influences within the experience in the present that would better fit self for the abilities in applying self to healing arts. Not neglecting music and the artistic forces that should be the channels for recreation as well as sources to aid in those directing influences for assisting self in giving the better health or aid to others.

40. Apply self in the spiritual life for ever the more constructive forces, for as ye do it unto the least of thy brethren ye do it to thy Maker.

41. Ready for questions.

42. (Q) Then you would advise to continue my work in chiropractic school, to be coordinated with mental and spiritual healing? (A) We would.

43. (Q) Please give full and specific directions for study and direction of my efforts. (A) As indicated; especially in those fields of nervous systems as related to the mucous membranes, or the activity of the lymph and emunctory forces of the physical body. Specialize in these directions.

44. (Q) What type of music should be played while treating. (A) That of the low but of a pastoral nature.

45. (Q) What are my greatest faults and inhibitions which should be corrected? (A) As may be seen from those conditions that are innate, - selfishness.

46. (Q) In what section of the country, or countries, will I find the greatest opportunity for expression and service? (A) Wherever there is found the coordinant forces in those fields of activity; especially as we find in the west or central Carolinas.

47. (Q) Even as an avocation should I now attempt to do anything with music? (A) Rather along the lines as indicated, using it as a means for expression or for giving self a “lift” as it were, yet enabling self to do a greater service for others.

48. (Q) Are there any special groups or special individuals with whom I should seek contact and association? (A) These should come with the general developments, rather than making of specific recommendations here. For such should be choices from within the emotional forces as arise within self.

Dear Mrs. [[1804]‘s wife]

Just hope you find the reading for Mr. [1804] as helpful as many another say theirs have been for them. Would suggest that you get in touch with Hugh Lynn and have him go over same with you both. Think he will be able to help you a great deal with same, but know can I be of a help in any way will be happy to try and do so.

Think would like to put you in touch with a friend of mine in N.C. who needs some one to help him out with his work.

Enclosed please find my check made to the order of the Association for Research and Enlightenment for one half the cost of the Life Reading. As agreed I will send the other half next month.

Mrs. […] & I stayed at home during the hours 10.30 to 11.30 last Saturday in meditation and hope all went well with your research.

Dear Mr. [1804]:

Thank you for yours of the 1st with enclosure. As suggested would try and see Hugh Lynn my son and have him go over the reading with you. Think he can make it very helpful for you. That some of the questions were not answered - that we cannot help when the information stops - there is no starting again, but Hugh Lynn will explain that to you. There are times when no questions are answered at all.

I must confess I am very disappointed at the long delay set on your appointment slip as Mrs. […] needs help badly and soon.

Unless the reading can be had by the first of February we have no idea where we will be.

We met your son several years ago and have been under the impression that we belong to your group, I having personally had a reading.

If you can give Mrs. […] a reading before February 1st. just let us know and we will keep the appointed hour as you wish .
