GC: You will go over the this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions which have been submitted, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes.
-
Now as we find, there is in the present a complication of disturbances; yet these should respond in most every manner to correcting of those segments in the cerebrospinal system that as we find are causing the upsetting to the system, - especially at this period of development of the body.
-
These pressures cause in the present some glandular disturbance as related to the genital system, to the thyroid (which has direct connection, of course), to the circulatory forces as related to the disturbances in the superficial circulation, as well as the effect upon the locomotory centers of the body.
-
Then, these as we find are the disturbing conditions:
-
In the coccyx, the lumbar and in the brachial areas, or vegetative centers, we find there has been injury to the lower portion. And with the strain produced upon the nerve forces, lesions have been formed that hinder the activity of the circulation throughout the vegetative forces of the body.
-
Thus there is produced the lack of the proper eliminations through the eliminating system as related to the alimentary canal.
-
Hence as we find:
-
First have those corrections made osteopathically (we would prefer the Dobbins’ method), in the sacral, the lumbar axis, the coccyx area; also in the upper dorsal and through the cervical areas.
-
These would be made before there would be the attempt to have any specific thing done regarding the conditions in the tonsils, or the thyroid area. For if the drainages are set up, and the proper diet kept that would REGULATE the activity of the eliminating system, we may bring the normal forces and influences for this body; thus eliminating this compound disturbance which arises from the complication of conditions existent.
-
DO NOT take ANY fats, nor fried foods.
-
One meal each day, at least, would consist principally of vegetable or fruit juices and raw vegetables. Not that this would be all taken, but the principal part of same.
-
For those irritations to the portions of the body, use an ointment with the D.D.D. Prescription in same.
-
These as we find will remove the swelling areas, - the areas where rash and such occur.
-
Do this for this body, then, [1860], if we would bring the normal forces for same.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Approximately what length of time will be required? (A) This depends upon how well the body responds. This should be accomplished within six to eight weeks, to NORMALCY.
-
(Q) What was the original nature of the disturbance? (A) Injury, as indicated, to those areas; and then the activities caused lesions in other portions, thus cutting off the impulses and allowing abnormal developments in some directions at this special period; making for the lack in one area and an excess activity in the other - of the thyroid activity.
-
Do as has been indicated, if we would bring the better forces for the body.
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 4/19/39 Father’s letter:
Dear Mr. Cayce:
Thank you for the very prompt reading on [1860] & your kind letter of April 12. The Reading was excellent and we have [1860] already under the care of Dr. Dobbins. I am entertaining every faith that the treatments will bring [1860] to normalcy & I shall of course not fail to let you know the final results.
There was however one important feature of [1860]‘s condition that was not mentioned in the reading. It is of great concern to us. While we have every reason to hope the treatments now being given [1860] will correct the other trouble, which the reading covered fully, the absence of mentioning the other trouble is quite puzzling. However it is intended to ask you to kindly give another reading within the very near future to let us know the progress the Dr. is making & at the same time incorporate the so-called “missing link” of [1860]‘s trouble. In the meantime thought I understand you will be in New York when it will be a real pleasure to have you meet my family, because there is no doubt but what you are doing some wonderful work.
Best wishes & hoping you are in the very best of health,
Sincerely yours,

Dear Mr. Cayce:
I certainly hope you will remember me in connection with the reading you gave on [1860] some six weeks ago. We have had [1860] under Dr. Dobbins’ care and it is quite important that we endeavor to find out how he is progressing. Will you please therefore arrange for an early reading. What we want to know are the following:-
- The present condition & what if any improvement?
- What evidence can we go by?
- Will operation of any kind be necessary?
- Any special exercises?
- Any special diet?
- Is the Dr. giving him the proper treatments? [1860] will very soon be entering puberty and unless the condition is corrected we are very much worried over the future consequences. I might add that the previous reading did not disclose the other trouble which [1860] has.
Both [257] and [1860] wished to be remembered to you.
Best regards
P.S. I will of course send you the necessary remuneration. Please let me know what it is.

Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Mr. Casey [Cayce]:
I have just had along encouraging talk with Mr. [257] which was very enlightening and I am compelled to write you asking for a reading which I do hope & trust you can arrange for as soon as possible as I believe it is very emergent [urgent?].
My son, age 12 has a body complication which the Doctor frankly states he knows nothing about. Therefore I would like to have a physical reading & the answers to the following questions:
- What caused the condition to occur in his body?
- How can they be corrected?
- What length of time will be required.
- What doctor is recommended?
- What treatment to be given?
- What exercise if any?
- What is the history of the case?
- Should his tonsils be removed & if so would this alleviate the condition?
A prompt reading is eagerly awaited as it has been tentatively arranged to removed his tonsils next week.
