GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity and that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions which she has submitted, as I ask them:
-
EC: (In going back over years from present - ” - ‘29 - periods of change - some expansions, and yet fears - ‘27 - ‘20 - changes - ‘19 - 1893, as we find here, was the year of birth as we would count in the present.
-
We have the records here of that entity called in the present, [1869].
-
In giving the interpretations from the records as we find here, these are chosen with the desire to make the experience a helpful one in the entity’s application of its abilities, of its emotions, and its activities in the present.
-
Rather one out of the ordinary in its reactions, and in its associations of ideas, and ideas with individuals.
-
But (without respect to the application) these are the influences that we find innate and manifested in the experience of the entity in the present:
-
One oft anxious about others.
-
One rather inclined to be secretive about its activities in associations with others.
-
One inclined to be mindful of the economic conditions in the affairs of groups, - of even nations. Not in a political manner, but more as to the social and economic order of relationships.
-
One inclined to give too much to omens and signs, and those influences that arise from associations or affiliations with those who are reported to be occultists, - or a form of scientific research.
-
It is well that all of these be considered, but know that much that is attained through the mental concept may be misleading. It must be rather the awareness of the oneness of the universal consciousness, that may bring the spirit of truth and peace.
-
Know that no form of omen or signs should ever be confusing in the experience of an entity. Thus, while astrological, numerological or the mystic signs are important to a degree, they are merely RELATIVE as to purposes.
-
For know, as has been indicated of old, “If ye will be my people, I will be thy God” was not spoken at random, but that each soul, each entity may become - as it seeks - aware of the oneness with the promises which have been and are the birthright of every soul that comes into materialization.
-
Signs and wonders, lights and noises, - yea, even though one come from heaven and declare that He hath not come in the flesh, such an one would lead thee astray.
-
In the aspects as we find them from the astrological sojourns, the entity comes close to the cusps.
-
Hence they are in that position (through the signs!) that the influences are for the entity to be both a materialist AND one given to spiritual things.
-
It behooves the entity, then, all the more to so examine self as to know not only in what ye believe but WHO is the AUTHOR of that ye profess to believe.
-
Thus the applying of self in its daily associations with its fellow man, in keeping with the tenets and ideals of that which is the ideal of the entity, will bring more and more awareness of the relationships to the Creative Force ye call God.
-
For HE is mindful of all, and hath not willed that any soul should be led astray. Seek, then, and ye shall find; knock and it will be opened unto you.
-
Study then to show thyself approved unto thy ideal, a workman not ashamed, - rightly dividing the words of truth, putting the accent where it belongs.
-
Know that all is - as Life - the gift of the Creator, and that the opportunities which present themselves from day to day are to be made manifest as a glorifying of the Father. For that is thy mission in this experience.
-
Sincerity is thy watchword, but let not thy good be evil- spoken of by accrediting to this or that sign or omen as the proof. But know, as He hath given, “My Spirit beareth witness with thy spirit.” Not the spirit then of confusion, nor of any man-made knowledge. For ALL may be aware, from the least to the greatest, of their relationship to the Father.
-
As to the appearances in the earth in the material sojourns, we find that few have the direct influence upon the entity in the present, - save as the entity may make aware through the application of that which is its ideal.
-
Before this we find the entity was in the land of the present nativity, during those periods of an upheaval and the turmoil brought with the invasion of the Romans, - through those activities of the French dictator - or the Napoleon, that brought desolation through the gratifying of self’s own egotism, - making for material sides to be taken in the minds and heart’s of many.
-
The entity, through the experience of turmoil, remained beautiful in its relationships to others. Those hardships materially brought a peace within, - as kindness and brotherly love meted to others.
-
Then the name was Hanen Revolli. In the experience the entity gained, - and innately others have been and are an impelling influence and force in the present experience.
-
And the abilities to write, the abilities to talk, through such associations, become outlets for the entity in the present.
-
Know, as ye experienced through that sojourn, “He that is the greatest among you is the servant of all,” ministering kindnesses, gentlenesses, patience to others.
-
Before that we find the entity was in the Promised Land, as now called; during those periods when the Master walked in the earth.
-
The entity then was among those peoples who looked for, through those who were endowed with the inner vision, a helper, a master, a leader, a teacher; being a student of what ye would term astrology.
-
Thus we find that all phases of such natures that tend towards the mysteries of the universe outside of man’s own material vision become conditions and experiences to be sought. These should ever be, as we have indicated, assurances rather than those things upon which to build thy determinations or thy activities even.
-
In that experience the entity knew much of those things that dealt with the activities between the various religious factors, - as those termed the Sadducees, the Essenes, the Pharisees, those who worshiped beauty and those who knew of and - yea - presented those things of the mythological nature that gave to the material world concepts of the ethereal and terrestrial spheres of activity.
-
All of those were portions of the entity’s experience, as Zenda Lumi.
-
There we find the entity gaining and losing; gaining during those periods in which there was the entertaining of those tenets set by the followers of the Nazarene; losing when those were turned to self-indulgences.
-
In the present experience, hold to those principles that were His which are combined into one, - that to love the Lord with all thy heart and mind and body, and thy neighbor as thyself, is the whole law, - and to do good is to have the smile of the Father on thee, and to do evil is to rue and regret thine own experiences.
-
Before that we find the entity was in the Egyptian land, during those periods of the turmoils and strifes there.
-
We find the entity entered with the Atlanteans who came not so much as refugees but to implant the tenets of the children of the Law of One, and those people who attempted to give a reckoning of those activities to maintain and sustain a record.
-
Hence again we find the entity depending upon the signs of the times. And, as He the Teacher of teachers gave, this is well in thy material life, but brings so little peace and assurance within thy spiritual self.
-
The name then was Es-el-da, - being of the daughters of the Prince of the Atlantean land; coming closer to the activities of the King in the Egyptian land; becoming better established when those activities of the entity brought the influences in the Temple Beautiful that enabled the various individuals to purify their bodies and minds for channels of definite service to the various phases of man’s experience in the earth.
-
The entity gained much in the latter portion, - as it may in the present, if there is the simple application of “Love ye one another,” and not for self but that truth and mercy may be magnified in the earth, that the glory of the Son may be shedding its light in the lives of those ye meet day by day.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What have been my past associations with my son […], what are the urges in the present and what can I do for our mutual mental and spiritual development? (A) The daughter of that entity, as has just been indicated. The son was the Prince in the Atlantean land. The desire to see that Prince, that son again exalted into those positions of power, - let it be not of domination but let him learn - and learn WITH Him - those lessons of humbleness of purpose in the MIGHT of God’s love; and that the beauty of service for the glory of the Father - as it did to those of old - brings power that may be used in service to others.
-
(Q) Please give such advice as will be helpful in directing and training my son, […]. (A) As just indicated, - no better may be given than studying to show thyself approved unto God, a workman not ashamed, serving thy fellow man. For as ye do it unto the least of thy brethren, ye do it unto thy Maker.
-
(Q) Toward what specific type of activity should I direct my energies? (A) Writing, teaching, lecturing, - as you SHOULD direct the boy.
-
(Q) What are the first essential steps? (A) Self-analysis and determining WHAT is thy ideal, and WHO is the author of same.
-
(Q) What have been my past associations with my husband and are our karmic relationships completed in the present? (A) These can best be answered within self.
As to the former associations and relations, these - judged by present standards - were not beautiful; yet such activities have been needed; and, remember,ye are meeting thyself! For as ye measured, it is, it has been, it will be measured to thee!
The former associations were in the land of the nativity.
-
(Q) What steps should I now take to conclude and clean up this relationship in relation to both my son and myself? (A) As given.
-
(Q) Any further advice? (A) Much of opportunity lies before thee. Much of abilities are within thine own pursuance of truth. Do that as seemeth good unto thee in the light of that thou hast been given, - study to show thyself approved.
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 5/3/39 EC’s letter to [1869]:
Dear Mr. [1869]:
Hope you find the information interesting and most of all helpful - will appreciate your letting me hear from you, when you have studied it over a bit.
Hoping to have been of a service
Sincerely, [signed] Edgar Cayce
R2. 5/7/39 [1869]‘s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce:
Answering your letter of the 3rd, if you want me to be quite frank, I have a sad and discouraging tale to tell, though I do realize how kind it was of you to inquire. Here it is.
The reading seemed to me evasive, uninforming and with the advice I was looking forward to left out. I rather thought Mr. Hugh Lynn understood my dilemma and that this was being resorted to by me in my need for a parental attitude from the spirit world. Even my curiosity as to outside attitudes was unsatisfied. These attitudes forced me to come to conclusions of heredity such as outlined which must have been in some way broadcast without my knowledge, making for a very embarrassing existence, and unwholesome one - I mean we have been unable to lead a normally happy existence.
Of course your sincerity is not involved, please know that I believe that. Perhaps it is that I am still too small to fill so big an order even in thought as is required by the advice I did get, or perhaps it was that there was not sufficient cooperation from me during the reading. I kept faith during Daylight savings time while you mention Eastern Standard time, instead of being at home I was seated in the patio of the Temple of Religion at the World’s Fair. My son insisted on being a charter member of the First-at-the-Fairs, so we went, and I had, as I anticipated, a perfectly quiet, almost deserted place, where I almost fell asleep during my “vigil”.
What I really hoped for was something concrete with regard to my son, something material even to the mention of names and places, helpful in shaping our lives, for the shaping of his must necessarily include mine. As to my husband, there is a mystery that I have despaired of solving - and perhaps you known how unsatisfied curiosity in so vital a matter eats into your vitals. Perhaps, also in the solving of this, my boy’s unexpressed unhappiness could be done away with. THERE would be concrete help.
Thank you, however, for your effort to help, and please be assured of my appreciation.
Sincerely yours, [1869]
R3. 5/11/39 EC’s letter to [1869]:
Dear Mrs. [1869]:
Thank you for yours of the 7th. Ordinarily one would say if a question is not answered then it isn’t answered. Believe however if you will read the information several times letting a bit of time elapse between readings, you will find there is much more answered than you first supposed, for as this is approached from the Spiritual angle, not material, and every thing has its basis in the spiritual.
Try this won’t you? You are the 2nd person in my forty years, that didn’t find an answer.
Thank you very very much for your letter but try this for me, will you, and then let me hear from you.
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce
R4. 10/12/50 [1869]‘s letter to HLC:
Gallinger Hospital
Mr. Hugh Lynn Cayce Arctic St. Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Hugh Lynn:
Could you, or your friend Tom Sugrue who lives in Washington, come to see me?
The newest fashion is to term one “mentally unfit” who worries about offspring, when there is evidence for worry.
I’ll appreciate it.
Mrs. [1869]
R5. 10/17/50 HLC’s letter to [1869]:
Mrs. [1869] Gallinger Municipal Hospital 19th and Mass. Ave., S.E. Washington, D.C.
Dear Mrs. [1869]:
I have your note of recent date.
Then next time I am in Washington, I will certainly endeavor to get in touch with you. In the meantime, I am writing some of our members there who can perhaps be of assistance.
Thomas Sugrue is not in Washington and does not expect to be there for some time.
Sincerely yours, Hugh Lynn Cayce [HLC:mb]
R6. 4/17/51 [1869]‘s letter to HLC:
WR-5 St. Elizabeth Hosp. Washington D.C.
Dear Hugh Lynn:
Do you still have your hospital down there - or Sanitarium? I need a rest badly, with people I know, and would be so happy to come down there. My brother says a “transfer” can be effected, but I would just want to go with you, if that can be arranged - in accordance with the law No. P-378 of the District Court (Mental Health) which says any relative or friend can remove a patient so long as he or she is harmless. Can you get the form? Payment for your Sanitarium will be made by me.
Thanks a million, cousin
Yours (Mrs.) [1869]
P.S. My best to the [257]‘s.
R7. 5/24/51 HLC’s letter to [1869]:
Mrs. [1869] WR-554 St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Washington, D.C.
Dear Mrs. [1869]:
I have your note of April 17.
I am sorry to tell you that we don’t have any hospital here now. I wish we did so that we might be of some assistance to you in the present. I expect to be in Washington on the 27th. Would it be possible for me to reach you by telephone?
Sincerely yours, Hugh Lynn Cayce [HLC:mb]
R8. 5/28/51 [1869]‘s letter to HLC:
WR 5 St. Elizabeth’s Hosp.
Washington, D.C.
Dear Hugh Lynn:
Thanks for your note of the 24th, which, much to my surprise, reached me the next day.
Sorry you could not get here for a visit, but I know how busy you are, & perhaps you CAN send one of your many Washington friends for proxy. No message was given me, OF COURSE, if you did phone. One can visit anyday, almost any time, especially clergymen & attorneys.
What it’s all about Heaven knows, & I don’t care to. All I want to do is go about my own simple affairs in my own simple way.
I hope you’ll be up this way again soon. Many thanks anyway, for thinking of me.
Kind remembrances to all;
Yours (Mrs.) [1869]
P.S. My brother, who is for a short time in Mexico, has written me that he finally heard from Dr. Silk who takes charge in Dr. Overholzer’s absence, that a TRANSFER COULD BE EFFECTED if I want it. And DO I WANT IT, but ONLY if you have at least your own little Institute Sanitarium - as soon as possible.
R9. 6/7/51 HLC’s letter to [1869]:
Mrs. [1869] W.R. 5 St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Washington, D.C.
Dear Mrs. [1869]:
I hope that you will be able to effect a transfer to the Still-Hildreth Sanitarium. I believe they could give real help to you. Please keep me posted if you do make the transfer as I would like to write to you.
Sincerely yours, HLC
R10. 9/8/54 Note by IMG: Mrs. [1869] stayed in Virginia Beach for several days, during which time she attended some of the classes being held during August. She was vague - made little or no sense in her conversation - made all sorts of plans about doing things throughout the day and promptly forgot about doing them. She seemed mostly interested in the attention she could attract to herself.
