This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of December, 1937, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [189], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. EC: Yes, [189]; this we have had before.

2. As we find, there are a great many disturbances. Some are the outcome of conditions, and left over - or a hangover of some disturbances that have been indicated. But there is a general depletion in the system, and making for such activities through not only the organs but through the assimilating and eliminating systems as to cause the body to be more susceptible to cold or congestion.

3. Hence we find a general toxic condition. This, to be sure, affects the lower hepatic circulation; kidneys and the bladder itself; congestions through the liver area, especially as related to the activities through the alimentary canal; an irregularity with the respiratory system, especially as related to the circulation between the lungs and the heart itself. Irritations from the activities in the throat and head and the mucous membranes of the head, as in the soft tissue of face, and the antrums, and about the ear - all are involved.

4. As we see, it’s a pretty general toxic condition.

5. Hence as we find for this body, we would give that there be a PERSISTENT and CONSISTENT series of hydrotherapy treatments. Not just once a week, but for the next two to three weeks TWICE a week have a general THOROUGH series.

6. And this would mean taking into the system during these first periods, not large but small quantities of a vegetable compound that would act upon the liver, the spleen, the pancreas, the alimentary canal, and create a balance through the lower hepatic circulation. Such as we find might be had in an equal combination of Fletcher’s Castoria and the California Syrup of Figs. Put them together, shake them together; and take about half a teaspoonful of the combination EVERY HOUR during the WAKING time, you see - EVERY HOUR during the waking time. Do this for two to three days, or until at least TWO THOROUGH hydrotherapy treatments are given.

7. This means a general hydrotherapy treatment including these:

8. First, a colonic irrigation. Then a Fume Cabinet sweat. For this body the fume should be with the DRY heat, not the wet heat altogether; only dry heat altogether, but start the fume with the dry heat, see? that is, the fume and dry heat working at the same time. Be precautious, of course, during these applications that it is not so long that we change the temperature of the body to such that it is a strain upon that disturbance between the heart and the lung’s activity; else we may cause disturbances in the HEAD - by the great pressures upon the lymph circulation there.

9. Following the Cabinet there should be first the hot and cold shower or spray, or HEAVY spray; then the thorough rubdown with salt RUM, followed with the combinations of oils - preferably Pine Oils and Olive Oil. Then a rest, and then a thorough rub and cleansing of the body with the alcohol.

10. This should be at least twice each week for three weeks.

11. Of course, only one series of the vegetable compound, as we find, would be necessary for the alimentary canal.

12. Then be mindful of the diets. Do not overtax the system by doing WITHOUT foods and then OVEREATING (as the body has done at times). Do not use bad combinations that upset the body. Be more REGULAR, rather, and we will find we will create a better balance.

13. The use of the Radio-Active Appliance would RE-IONIZE the system, if this is used of evenings before retiring. Not AFTER retiring, but BEFORE retiring; while the body meditates use the Appliance. Circulate the one anode (the positive; that is, the first attached) about the body; right wrist today, left wrist tomorrow, left ankle the next day, right ankle the next, etc., while the last anode attached (becoming the negative) would be left ankle today, right ankle tomorrow, right wrist the next day, left wrist the next, etc. Keep these anodes clean, very clean. Use for thirty minutes at a period, each evening. Do this for a series of two to three weeks, leave off a week, try again; and we will revivify the whole body; cutting down this toxic force, cutting down the activities of the system.

14. Let GRAPES be a part of the diet EVERY day!

”…I also want you to know that I am carrying out the instructions contained in your last reading and I am beginning to feel more like a human being. I felt that I could not carry out the work at Reilly’s as the expense involved was too much, but Mr. [257] suggested that I go to Dr. Berg’s place, which I did and after three treatments, I do feel that the world is a good place to be in. I am going to keep it up and let you know how I come out. Dr. Berg was very cooperative as to price which made it possible for me to take the treatments as outlined in your last reading and I am very happy about it.

“I must tell you that these people are two of the most charming people I have met in a long time and furthermore, in addition to knowing their business very thoroughly have a conception of what good must be done for the human race and want to do it. Dr. Berg, himself is a really great inventor for all kinds of appliances which will improve circulation, promote elimination and create a better balanced nervous system. I know that he will work out with people and I, myself, am very enthusiastic about what they have done for me.

“I will speak to him about the defective heating unit which you have and have no doubt that he will send you another without any delay. [GD’s note: Dr. Berg had sent EC a home steam cabinet.]…”
