1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions which may be submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1896].

3. Now as we find, there have been for some time disturbances which prevent a better normal reaction in the physical forces of the body.

4. There have been for some time those pressures existing in areas along the cerebrospinal system that through impulses aid to produce the normal activity of the assimilating and eliminating system, - through the activity of the upper hepatic circulation or liver.

5. This, through impairment to the impulses from the nervous system, has gradually built up those deflections of energies in the lower portion of the duodenum and gall duct area.

6. At times this has caused a gastric pressure that produces disturbance through the whole of the area. This has slowed up the activity of the flow from the gall duct itself and thus certain foods become very aggravating to the body.

7. As we find, the rest of the system in a general manner is very good, save as the impulses are affected that arise from this character of disturbance, - causing not too good an elimination through the alimentary canal and at times some disturbance in the activity of the kidneys and the concurrent effect upon the muscular forces in the better activity of the system.

8. But all of these will respond to the corrective measures as we find that may materially aid the conditions here.

9. First, we would give that the electrically driven vibrator be used each evening before retiring, to relax the cerebrospinal system, - from the neck downward to at least the 9th dorsal, or below the middle of the waist, on either side of the spine, - using the cup or suction applicator.

10. Also begin with the use of at least three times each week of the heavy Castor Oil Packs over the abdomen or the lower portion of the stomach AND the liver area, especially. Use at least three thicknesses of flannel dipped in and wrung out of Castor Oil as hot as can be handled. Put this directly, of course, as warm as the body can stand over the liver and gall duct area, - lower portion of the stomach and down to the caecum on the right side of the body. Over this put a heavy pack or cloth, of course, to prevent soiling the clothing, or the like. This should be given with the body lying prone, of course, and not attempting to walk about the room, to be sure. Keep same on for an hour or hour and a half. It would be preferable if a hot electric pad could be kept on same during that time. Do this each evening for three days in succession.

11. Then we would begin with small doses of Olive Oil, taken until there is a full activity from the system from same. By small doses we mean half to a quarter of a teaspoonful taken two to three times a day, - unless the body belches same.

12. On the second day, after the series of Castor Oil Packs AND while the Olive Oil is being taken, we would take for one day the Zilatone tablets; one tablet about thirty minutes after the morning meal, two tablets after the evening meal; but keep up the Olive Oil until there are full eliminations from the system, you see; and also keeping the electrically driven vibrator each evening throughout the period.

13. Then the next week repeat the whole procedure; the three evenings of Castor Oil Packs, followed by the Olive Oil and the one day of Zilatone, with the vibrator being used continually, see?

14. Then the next week do the same again, and so on until the condition is entirely relieved.

15. Beware of fried foods. No hog meat at any time. Preferably no white bread. Use rather corn bread, whole wheat or the like.

16. If meats are taken, let it be fish, fowl or lamb - but not fried.

17. Keep away from too much sugars in the diet.

18. And if these will all be kept up as indicated, we will find we will bring better conditions to this body, [1896].

19. Ready for questions.

20. Do these, and we will bring better forces for this body.

21. We are through for the present.

Dear Mr. […]

Am in hopes you find the reading for your Mother most helpful, of course it is in the application of the information that the help comes. Know just how anxious you may be about it, and assure you will be glad to try and be of help in any way possible.

Am most interested in your work there, and will be glad to hear more about it from time to time. Feel you must be doing a great work, and while it is something in which one may become discouraged at times, as it seems to go so slow, am sure. But it is “line upon line, here a little and there a little,” but when we stick close to His promises we have the consciousness of something done in the way He would have it.

Mr. […]

In going through our files I find a Reading given for your mother, [1896] in May 1939. As we are anxious to bring our files up to date, we shall appreciate your filling out the enclosed report form and returning it to us. We are particularly anxious to check specific details which were mentioned in the Reading. For example, there was reference to the fact that certain foods in particular were aggravating to the body; also a disturbance in the activity of the kidneys at times. The verification of these and other points mentioned will be very valuable to us. Also we desire to know just what results she obtained in following the treatments suggested.

For your information we are enclosing a pamphlet outlining a research program being undertaken by our organization.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Mr. [370] of …, has interested me in writing about my Mother, who is a sufferer from gall bladder trouble. Mr. [370] is an Elder in the Presbyterian Church in …, where I was Pastor for five years. We have frequently talked of you and your work, and he always has something new to add when we have the privilege of visiting.

The trouble with me has been financial, or I probably would have written you sooner. I am sending a check for $5.00 in this letter to show my good intentions, and am wondering if there is some way in which you could give this reading for my Mother, and let me pay for it as I can. I have a large country field here, which is expensive to serve, and consequently I have very little money for expenses of this kind. I would appreciate hearing from you, and letting me know how I may avail myself of this service.

My mother is 78 years old, and has suffered from this trouble for about ten years. They are (the attacks) are coming more frequently in the last two years, and the only relief is for the Doctor to give her some kind of a shot. She is quite weak after one of the attacks, and is getting rather despondent about her condition.

I will appreciate your consideration of this case.

Have yours of the 6th - thank you - sincerely trust we may be the means of being of help for your Mother, am sorry that can’t make the appointment at once, but the first open period is the morning of the 27th of May - 10.30 to 11.30 E.S.T. that will be 9.30 to 10.30 your time I believe. Am sending you data relative to the work here - read all of it carefully then fill out the enclosed blank for your self or your Mother as you like. Assure you Mr. […] am glad to contribute my little mite to trying to be of a service to your Mother. Am aware of the labors and trials of a Minister these days, am myself teacher of the Adult Bible Class in the 1st Presbyterian here at the Beach. Rev. J. B. Clower is Pastor.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Many thanks for your cordial letter. We will be prepared for the reading at the appointed time, and shall welcome the information which comes from the reading. I am sending the application, which I filled in my name. I trust I have filled it in properly. As I wrote in the beginning, the reading is for my Mother, who has suffered from gall bladder attacks for a number of years. We are praying that light may come which shall relieve her of her suffering.

Regarding the work here and in the surrounding territory, I believe that we have a very interesting field. There are three organized churches, and four out-post Sunday Schools, through which we are trying a new approach to the white tenant problem - not only spiritually but economically. We are attempting to carry the spiritual message of the Gospel, and besides are using the services of a visiting nurse to help them with their health problems; and advocating and assisting in an economic program, which supplements their regular farm crops; this program consists of a flock of pure bred white leghorn chickens, brood sows, and ultimately milk cows. We are trying to show that the days of four-months farming (cotton) is a thing of the past, and offering this year round program to bring in a year round income. So far, we have placed 4500 baby chicks in about forty families, and will begin with the other items as we can arouse interest and get the money. I shall be glad to send you a report after we have had the plan in operation for a year, as I believe that it will show not only material, but spiritual results as well.
