Time of Reading 3:00 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, N.Y. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1919]. Now, we find there are abnormal conditions in the physical functioning of this body. These, as we find, have to do with the position of conditions in the physical functioning, or the organs themselves - or portions of same, and the effect that such disturbances have had and do have on the functioning of the organs.
-
These, then, are the conditions as we find them with this body, [1919].
-
IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this we find below the normal, inasmuch as the tendencies in the system are toward an over activity of the muco and lymph throughout the intestinal tract, or a dysentery that causes a strain on system. The red blood supply is low, with an increase in the white and the leucocyte.
-
IN THE NERVOUS SYSTEM, we find much disorder through these conditions that are produced in the nervous system, as well as the nervous system disorder in other portions, producing distresses in the physical functioning. In the upper dorsal region we find an injury there, that in times back has allowed the position of the stomach itself to be tilted forward from the cardiac position, and downward in the pyloric end. This has made for much of the tendencies toward a character of anemia, as well as the disturbance in the intestinal tract itself. The faulty digestion, with the resultant nerve pressures that have made disorders for the nervous system - as affect the whole of the sensory system, as affect the locomotion as in reference to pressures created in those centers from which locomotion takes place - either in brachial or lower locomotories through the sciatics - find their reaction and contraction for movements in the system, causing a form of inertia in the contraction of muscular forces through the deadening of impulse in the centers as form for contraction in muscular forces.
-
In the colon proper, we find a form of prolapsus, produced by this tendency of the system to drag, or to be over active in the lymph circulation, the emunctories reaction in the intestinal system. Hence this continuation of irritations through portion of the system. This, as we find, is in the upper portion of the ascending and the first portion of transverse colon.
-
In the effects that are produced from these disorders in the physical functioning of the body:
-
At times the body feels very good, especially when it has rested mentally AND physically until there is a near proper coordination of reflexes as related to the normal activity of body, yet when on feet, mentally active, or when there is any strain of any character through the upper portion of the system, or long standing on feet, or moving about, these return - with those bearing down pains as come across the diaphragm, as well as through the lumbar and sacral regions.
-
In the throat, bronchi, lungs and larynx - these are very good. From the condition, or the effects of the system to tend to eliminate through the breath and through the circulatory forces as come to the upper portion of body, teeth, gums and throat need local attention. This principally may be cared for by local attention and local antiseptics being used for the clarifying and cleansing of same, as system is corrected throughout other portions of body.
-
In the digestive forces, as indicated, we find the seat or the causes of the troubles, from position of stomach and conditions in intestines themselves. These, as we find, may be better aided by the proper relaxation of body, resting for a period, applying heat in the centers of the cerebro-spinal system from which the position of the stomach, as well as intestines themselves, find their nerve reflexes and nerve impulses to their activities through the system; then by the proper manipulations as would make for adjustments of these, and these being bound or held in place by such bandages that may bring about a normal position, with the continual strengthening of the muscular forces, relieving those tensions through the colon by the colonic irrigations - as well as antiseptics that may be applied with the irrigation, and also those antiseptics taken internally to act with all of the gastric forces of the body - especially that act through the jejunum and upper portion of the colon itself. Be careful that irritation is not produced in the caecum area, and that these portions are kept cleansed.
-
We would also take internally those properties that may be compounded in this way and manner, as for a tendency to prevent that activity in the lymph’s circulation in intestinal system, as the irritations are allayed, and which do not cause too much of a strain on the body:
-
Prepare this, to be taken in this manner:
Alum Root…1 ounce, Wild Ginseng…1/2 ounce, Indian Turnip…1/4 ounce.
-
GRIND these herbs until they are well pulverized, either by grinding or by rubbing or beating. Put this in 16 ounces of distilled water. Reduce by slow simmering (not boiling), stirring the properties occasionally, until these are reduced to 6 ounces of the juice or water. Strain, and while warm add Elixir Calisaya 1/2 ounce, Grain Alcohol (85%) 1 and 1/2 ounces. Shake solution together when the dose is taken, which should be half a teaspoonful, in water or plain, at least twice each day.
-
In the matter of the diet:
-
A well balanced diet as to nerve and blood building, particularly. That which does not tend to make for the over activity of the gastric forces in intestinal system, but that will act with the liver in its excretory and secretive functioning.
-
In the manipulative forces - with these the whole of the cerebro-spinal system muscular forces are to be strengthened, through the relaxing of those centers where tension is seen, and taxing or tauting those centers where there is too MUCH relaxation.
-
Keep off the feet during the first portion, especially, of the treatments. Well were the feet even kept elevated somewhat.
-
In the application of low form of electrical vibratory forces, we would use the Radio-Active Appliance - the regular or plain, making a circle of the extremities in the application of this. This will equalize the circulation and relieve the pressure and strain on the extremities themselves. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Is there a loop in the intestines? (A) Prolapses, or dropping of the colon itself - or the ascending and a portion of transverse colon.
-
(Q) Why does the dysentery come periodically? (A) This has been described. By the activity of those conditions in the system when there are reactions in the cycle of functioning which has allowed the dropping of the stomach and intestines themselves.
-
(Q) Will the injured knee in time come out in fine shape? (A) Will the circulation - that is impaired in the extremities - be aided through the manipulative measures, as given - and these we would give at least twice each week. We find these will gradually be improved. When there is extreme pain in the sacral or in the limb itself, we will find that applications of saturated solution or packs of Epsom Salts will aid materially. These should only be over the joints, NOT over the intestines or portions of the system that form gas or activity of lymph and circulation in the body.
-
(Q) What should be done for pain in back of neck? (A) Correct those conditions in the cerebro-spinal system and these, we find, will disappear.
-
(Q) Has the urine cleared up? (A) To some extent. Will not until there is more coordination in the eliminations of the system.
-
(Q) Are kidneys working properly? (A) Not with a disturbed circulation. Strengthening of the muscular forces, the changes in the position, the removal of pressure in the portions, will allow all to cleanse and clear properly. Do that.
-
(Q) What was the real cause of the trouble last May which made her so ill? (A) Reflex from those conditions existent in the upper dorsal area. We are through for the present.

R1. 1/18/31 [1919]‘s letter to EC:
Mrs. [1919] … St. …, N.Y.
Dear Dr. Cayce:
Both Mr. [4661] and myself were very much interested in your readings as Dr. Berger explained same to us nicely.
Dr. Berger is giving us our treatments, but, of course one cannot say much after a weeks time. Nevertheless, we are both very appreciative of your help. I feel quite sure we will be benefited by it. We want to thank you for the interest shown - and for the reading.
I am very much interested in a physical Reading, I wonder if you would give me one. I will enclose a check if you should care to do so.
We are leaving for a trip lasting about 6-8 wks. and I wonder if it is advisable. Would also like to know if it was wise to buy the property we bought for our daughter and if so should build. Having our own home, which is rather large for us, would it have been better to turn same over to her. Then again, we love our home, have lived here 23 years, and it would be rather hard to live elsewhere unless of course it had to be. Should we both be spared for a time, we can still enjoy it, but for one alone it would nearly be impossible.
It seems odd, to come to you, an utter stranger, with my problems; but I keep thinking about this. I was born 1879 April 19 in Steltin, Germany. Christened [1919] not […], as you wrote in your reading (physical). Thanking you in advance.
Yours truly, [1919]
P.S. We leave for our trip Jan. 31 and I would like to hear from you before if possible.
We are most anxious to see if my treatments, which we will continue even on my (our) trip, will improve my (our) health and relieve me (us) of my (our) nerves.
R2. 1/22/31 [1919]‘s letter to EC:
Mrs. [1919] … Street …, N.Y.
Dear Dr. Cayce:- When I wrote you a few days ago, I really do not remember if I mentioned what kind of a reading, I am desirous of having. A life reading is what I would like, and it must be most interesting.
Mr. [4661] and myself really feel some improvement already and find both Mr. and Mrs. Berger [Theodore J. Berger, D.O. and his mother Grace C. Berger, D.O.] very efficient.
Regretting I had to bother you by writing again, but I was not sure if I had written plainly.
Yours truly
