This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of June, 1939, in accordance with request made by the brother-in-law, […], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. [257].

Hospital for Mental Time of Reading Diseases, Hudson Co. 3:50 to 4:05 P.M. Eastern Standard Time. Secaucus, N.J.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions which have been submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, [1926].

3. Now as we find, there are physical and mental disturbances with this body. These have their inception from conditions which have arisen from the general strain upon the physical body by childbearing, and conditions which have existed since the last of such, - as combined with some attempts for prevention of same.

4. These, then, are disturbances as we find with this body.

5. In the mental reactions do we find the greater disturbance.

6. The continued use of sedatives or hypnotics, and these combined with those forms of the compound from saltpeter, will only tend to make for a greater destruction to the impulse of the nerve force as related to brain AND to the activities in the body, as they reflect through the mental, imaginative and physical forces of the body.

7. These have begun to produce conditions in the portions of the brain where there is felt at times quite severe pain, of which the body complained before there was the breakdown.

8. This is NOT in the form of a tumor, but is rather a thickening of the tissue there, - owing to those conditions and pressures which exist in relationship to the organs of the pelvis with the nerve forces as related to the glandular reaction in the base of the brain, as well as to the frontal and the side portion of same where the glands in the head coordinate with the SYMPATHETIC nervous system.

9. As we find, we would bring the better conditions for this body if there were the transferring of the body from the present environs or surroundings to such an institution as in Macon, Missouri. For, there the body might have the hospitalization under more sympathetic environs, and also the use of manipulative forces to correct those pressures that exist along the cerebrospinal system; also the use of applications that, by absorption, might reduce those conditions which exist in portions of the brain cavity, or brain cellular force itself.

10. Under such supervision, then, six months should see the body restored near to normal.

13. (Q) What specific treatments would be necessary? (A) As we have indicated, those to reduce the pressures which exist in the lower portion of the spinal system, as well as the application of the low electrical forces for the breaking up of the conditions of thickened tissue in the areas at the base of brain and through the cavity itself as indicated.

14. (Q) What kind of low electrical treatment? (A) Let this be administered by those in charge there, as they will find and see the needs of the body and the character of treatment needed for producing absorption, see?

Do these, as we find, - as well as the care, the precautions, and the KINDNESS will make a great change.

15. We are through for the present.

Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

I was in to see Mr. [257] this morning and I also talked to Miss [1789] in his office.

We have been doing our very best to get the right treatment for my sister-in-law. You remember you gave her a very fine reading and we would like now to check it up and see how she is doing. Will you kindly get this reading as quickly as possible. You have her address which is the same.

I would like you to ask the following questions: [1926], Hospital for Mental Diseases, Hudson Co., Secaucus, N.J.

1. What is the condition of the body now - mentally and physically?
2. Are there any improvements in the body since you last gave the reading?
3. Is there any place in the East where we can get the treatments since it is inconvenient at the present time to take her to the sanitarium in Missouri?
4. Are there any special diets that this body might use now?
5. Are there any special treatments that the institution would be willing to give here inside?
6. If we take her out how could she be treated without going West?
7. Will she be able to get well where she is with the present treatments now being given?
8. Could the present hospital give her any treatment whatsoever to help her get well?
9. How can we persuade the hospital to cooperate?
10. Which one of the doctors would be the best man for Mr. […] and Mr. [257] to talk to?

Considering the peculiar circumstances surrounding this body, please offer any advice that you can to aid us and help us to restore her to her mentality.

B1. 6/6/39 [257]‘s ltr. to EC: ”…A chain of unusual things happened - I took a different train, met a friend who usually rides the Penn. instead of N.Y.C. He lives in Jersey…so for the first time he rides this train - and so do I - in talking, I told him of the [1513] case and [1789] case. Tears came down his face and he said ‘God sent you to me!’ He is an Armenian who comes from Egypt

• lived in Jersey for the past 30 years. His sister-in-law ‘went out’ - same as [1789] - about 3 weeks ago. She is 30 yrs. old - 3 young children and her husband and all the family are frantic.

“Please give this [rdg.] as soon as you can. He expects to be home by next Thursday - so send a copy here and one to his address marked ‘personal’. You can send the application to him and he will sign it again, if given before application. Send bill to Mr. […] and mail the reading to […] - he is the older brother… The [1926] case will be very unusual but the family is not broke like [1789] and it will be easier to help…”

Dear Judge:

Attached hereto is the application for [1926]. I have already sent you the list of questions but for fear that you cannot find them, I am going to make these few requests again. We will send it down special delivery this afternoon so that you will have it in the morning:

(Suggestion) You will kindly give a complete mental and physical diagnosis of the body of [1926] - going thoroughly over it in detail - giving us all the abnormal conditions that you find - the history of the case, the treatment and cure for same. Kindly answer the questions which we will ask of you after you have given the Reading.
