[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 10:35 to 11:00 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, N.C.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions he has submitted, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes - green trimmings.
-
Yes, we have the body here, [1945].
-
Now as we find, while conditions in many respects are very good, there are disturbing physical forces that without the proper correction may eventually cause a great deal more trouble than that indicated in the superficial blood supply in the present.
-
These, however, as we find, with proper precautions and with the adherence to those suggestions which will be indicated here, may be eradicated from the system.
-
It will require patience, persistence, and a rather close adherence to a diet.
-
Then, these are the conditions as we find them with this body, [1945] we are speaking of:
-
First, as we find, there has been and was a predisposition towards a disturbance in the blood stream, owing to the lack of elements of the nature that would be called iodonic, or iodine through the supply of the bodily forces, BEFORE the birth; that is, in the body of the mother.
-
Hence there was a weakness or an inclination in that direction.
-
Then as we find, with an unbalanced condition from the diet, with the infectious forces - owing to the manner of application for the eradication of same from the system, it became chronic in its nature.
-
With the predisposition, then, and with the disturbance already existent in the chemical reactions of the system and the lack of the proper glandular reaction from the thyroid (though not sufficient to make for too great a weakness, yet indigency in a direction), we find there has been produced in the superficial circulation an irritation that forms in the nature of a condition that does not remain wholly as a CONTINUED irritation or rash, but at times becomes VERY MUCH irritated - as indicated in portions of the superficial circulation on portions of the body.
-
These at times, of course, become much more aggravated than at others. Not an eczema exactly, - more of a nerve force combined with same, owing to the weaknesses in the system as indicated.
-
As combined with those conditions where the genital system is involved in same, these continue then to produce a reinfection at times, - but is more in the superficial circulation than in other portions of the body. However, unless it is removed, it may become - by the very nature of the disturbance - such as to attack the lymph in the joints, owing to its flow through same, especially in the extremities of the body.
-
At times also this general condition, or chronic condition, causes a disturbance to the organs of the sensory system, - owing to the infectious forces being carried IN the superficial circulation; thus affecting in the NERVE ends more of the sympathetic nervous forces of the body.
-
These as we find are the disturbances with this body of [1945] with their concurrent disturbance or drain upon the organs of the body, - without an organic disturbance save sympathetically reflected in same.
-
Now, in making for corrective measures:
-
As indicated, the diet as well as the mental attitude of the body towards creative or spiritual influences in its life MUST be a part of those applications for beneficial conditions.
-
For if there is the continued condemning of self for any activity, it will become a hindrance.
-
On the other hand, if the mental activities are used for hopefulness, helpfulness, gentleness, kindliness, brotherly love, patience, consistence, - these as we find will create and make for the bodily forces a different attitude TO the whole of the reactions that are to be created by those applications which we would give for the correction of the disturbance.
-
And if these applications are followed closely for six to ten weeks, we should find the condition disappearing, - and not only a near to normal physical reaction but the mental attitude, the mental outlook of quite a different nature.
-
First, then:
-
We would begin with taking Atomidine, commercial strength. Begin with one minim in half a glass of water before the morning meal is taken. Each day for five days increase the dosage one minim, see? until five minims are taken on the fifth day.
-
Then, after the end of the fifth day, leave off for ONE day, see?
-
Then begin the NEXT day with taking properties prepared in this way and manner: Mix together very thoroughly a level tablespoonful of Sulphur, a level tablespoonful of Epsom Salts, and a level tablespoonful of Cream of Tartar. Take a level teaspoonful of this mixture each morning until the whole quantity is taken.
-
Leave off then for one day.
-
Then begin with the Atomidine again, - this time taking TWO minims EACH day for the five days, see?
-
Take the same compound then again as indicated, see?
-
Continue this procedure until at least five rounds of each of these properties, you see, - taken in the manner and rotation as indicated; the Atomidine to cleanse and purify the glandular forces; the combination of Sulphur, etc., to produce in the system sulphamide.
-
After the second round of the Atomidine, we would also use Atomidine as a penial douche or wash, see? The solution for such use would be seven DROPS of commercial strength Atomidine in two tablespoonsful of Distilled Water, - not tap water. Keep this in a colored bottle IN a dark place, and it may be used for at least three or four times, so as to cleanse the bladder as well as the glandular forces along the prostate area - which this, AS a douche, will do. This would only be used afterwards as the indications would require; or if there is the feeling of a fullness in the prostate area, OR a tendency for any inflammation by a few drops of pus after urination, use once - with a penial douche, see?
-
Now, as to the diet:
-
Do not eat hog meat in ANY manner, save a little breakfast bacon - if desired - once or twice a week (but this very crisp).
-
Do not use MALT liquors in ANY form!
-
Soft drinks such as Coca-Cola, Cherry-Cola, Pepsi-Cola or any of the Cola drinks, may be taken in moderation, - but none of those that are of MALT nature or base; nor any of hard liquors.
-
Light wines may be occasionally taken.
-
Beware of fats, or of a very great quantity of butter, or of white bread.
-
These, the, we would consider; and adhere to these suggestions. Otherwise, everything else may be used in the regular rations or regular proportions.
-
Not too much of sweets, - though this does not indicate that these should be taboo entirely. Just be moderate.
-
Do these, and we will find in six to ten weeks - or in ten weeks - we should be free from these disturbances.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Would any local application be suggested for the eruption? (A) Apply externally the D.D.D. Cream, - this as a lotion, and then dusted with Stearate of Zinc Powder containing Balsam.
-
(Q) What is the condition of the teeth at present? (A) Some of these need local attention.
Do these for the better forces of this body, [1945].
- We are through for the present.

R1. 7/5/39 Mr. [1945]‘s ltr. to EC:
Mr Edgar Cayce, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr Cayce:
I have received your report of the physical reading you made for me last Saturday, and have noted contents of same with great interest. I am at loss how-ever to understand some of it, and would appreciate it if you would write me at once to clarify some of your suggestions.
You suggest a part of the corrective treatment that I take internally from one to five drops of a solution called Atomidine; now, I cannot find a drug store in this town that has such a preparation; in fact I cannot even find any-one who has ever heard of any preparation called Atomidine. Please advise me what this solution is, and where I can buy it, and if it has any other name by which it might be sold here.
I am naturally anxious to try the regime you have out-lined for me, and will do so as soon as I can purchase some of the above mentioned.
As I must leave … this Friday for …, Tenn., (and [an] unexpected transfer requested by my employer) I would appreciate an immediate answer, so I would have same before I left here.
With many thanks for all favors and with kindest personal regards, I am.
Cordially yours, [1945]
R2. 7/6/39 EC’s ltr. to Mr. [1945]:
Dear Mr. [1945]:
Have yours of the 5th. Am having Meredith Drug Co of the Beach ship you a bottle of Atomidine this mail - so you will have that. The rest seems to me you should be able to figure out all OK as it gives you the quantity of the ingredients to have all mixed together and you take a spoon of this each day as indicated for so many days and the rest as indicated. The Atomidine as directed to take internally - also use the same as an injection for the trouble in penis and bladder.
Don’t think you will have any trouble getting all of this - of course as many the diet will have to watch.
If tho, there is any thing else you do not understand will be glad to explain as best can.
Sincerely hoping you will get as good results as so many tell us they receive from same.
And with all good wishes
Sincerely, [signed] Edgar Cayce

Mr Edgar Caycie [Cayce], Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Sir:
You have been most highly recommended to me by a friend, as one possessed of psychic powers capable of solving the problems of others who may be even unknown to you.
If the above is true, and your services are not financially beyond my means, I would surely like to enlist your aid, particularly in solving a problem of a certain physical condition that has harassed me for years, and has kept me many times from being able to enjoy a normal life.
Naturally I am skeptical, but I am sure this is not a new reaction to you, and if you are as capable as I have been informed, you will probably be able to tell me without even seeing me, what this affliction is. If you can do this I would of course have confidence in your advice relative to the cure of same.
Would it be necessary for me to see you in person to learn these things? - or could you do just as well by mail?
Please tell me what your fee would be for this service, and also for other problems, such as business and love affairs.
I shall be greatly interested in your reply, and will appreciate an early answer.
With kindest personal regards, I am.
Yours sincerely, [1945]
B2. 6/3/39 EC’s ltr. to Mr. [1945]:
Dear Mr. [1945]:
Have yours of the 1st. Thank you, and assure you your letter is very interesting, and believe I appreciate your feeling in the matter, but please know I am not trying to prove any thing to any one - save the belief in a merciful God. And don’t understand me by that, that I believe I am especially endowed or favored of God, but, why words? Am sending you data under separate cover - read and if still interested - come see me if practical. Would be some weeks before could give you an appointment, as can only do two readings each day - and stay several weeks in advance with appointments - and too the Annual Congress of the Assn. that presents the work meets here on the 15th of June. Come during that week end - be here on Friday evening - attend the meeting and hear what others think of the work.
Hoping you find data of interest and that may be of a service to you
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce
B3. 6/5/39 Mr. [1945]‘s ltr. to EC:
Mr Edgar Cayce, Assn. for Research & Enlightenment, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Sir:
This is to acknowledge and thank you for your letter of June 3rd, and also the literature.
I have read with great interest the account of your experiences and also the records of your miraculous diagnosing of physical conditions that were baffling to medicos. I must say that all in all your testimony is most convincing, and has made me more determined than ever to seek your aid.
I have made a private study of psychic phenomena during the past fifteen years, and have benefitted greatly because of it. And to some degree I believe that I have been directed to you because of these studies, and I am frank to confess that I have had a strong premonition, or “Hunch” that you could help me from the very moment that I first heard of you.
In view of the above I feel there-fore that it would be well worth my while to accept your invitation to visit you at Virginia Beach, during the time of your annual congress. Barring any unforeseen circumstances I shall make the trip on June 16th.
I shall look forward in eager anticipation to meeting you in person at that time.
With kindest personal regards, I am.
Yours sincerely, [1945]
B4. 6/24/39 Mr. [1945]‘s ltr. to EC:
Mr Edgar Cayce, c/o Assn. for Research & Enlightenment, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr Cayce:
I am inclosing here - with my application for Associate membership, and my personal check for twenty dollars ($20.00) to pay for the reading next Saturday.
I have decided that due to unprecedented series of misfortunes that have been such a drain on me financially, that I will not make the trip to Virginia Beach but will stay here instead. I trust how-ever that my absence will have no bearing on the success of the reading, as the help I am seeking from you means a great deal to me now and I know will have a great bearing on my future success and happiness.
As there is no place on the application blank for a description of the physical condition that has harassed me for so long I am wondering whether or not you would like a description of this condition? If it would in any way aid you in a more successful diagnosis I should be glad to give you any details you may desire. If you want this information please write me at once, and I will see that you have it in detail before the date of the reading.
Please tell me if one of the other readings (I assume it is the Life reading) has to do with ones business success, and if it is valuable to guide one in making decisions of this nature. And if so would a reading of this kind cost me another $20.00 or would I receive this second reading for ten dollars?
I shall greatly appreciate a prompt reply as to the results of this experiment, and I assure you that I will keep my mind and thoughts attuned in an attitude of faith, to aid you in every way that I can.
I am sorry that I shall have to again post-pone the pleasure of meeting you personally, but if you are successful in helping me cope with this problem, I shall appreciate it beyond the power of words to express, and you will not lack in the advertising value that my words will pass on to others who need your help.
With kindest personal regards, I am.
Yours sincerely, [1945]
B5. 6/27/39 EC’s ltr. to Mr. [1945]:
Dear Mr. [1945]:
Have yours of the 24th with application for membership. Am very much disappointed that you are not planning to be here next Sat. Morning but it will be necessary, Mr. [1945], to give the exact address you will be between the hours of the reading or for the hour - rather 10.30 to 11.30 E.S.T. be at some definite place and give us the address at home or office, but give street and house number please. And would be well for you to ask specific questions or give what ever phases of the disturbance you wish to ask about. This is to clarify the information for you.
Be sure and let us have the address - disappointed in not meeting you tho. Hope you will come some time later.
Sincerely hoping to be of a real service
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce
Thanks for Check
B6. 6/29/39 Mr. [1945]‘s ltr. to EC:
Mr Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr Cayce:
I will be at … St., in this city at 10.30 to 11.30 A.M. Saturday.
The condition I am most anxious to find a cure for, is a skin disease that has made my back, shoulders and upper arm sections break out with eruptions that are not only painful, and distressing, but have so scarred the skin that there is hardly a spot on my back that is not covered with scar tissue. This condition has been bothering me for over twenty years, and altho at some time it seems to be a little better, I have never found any-thing that would cure it.
You can well appreciate how such a condition would affect a person’s social life, as I cannot go to the beach or enjoy sun bathing, and many of the things that a normal person would enjoy. This is especially difficult for a person in my position, as I am constantly meeting people who invite me on excursions of this kind, and it is difficult and embarrassing to find ways and means of excusing myself. To some degree it has even had an effect on my business success. To make it worse I am the type of person who likes people, and enjoy the companion ship of all kinds of folk of both sexes.
Although the above condition is really by far the most important problem I am seeking to solve, as far as health is concerned, I would like, (while you are on the subject) to ask another question. Some years ago I had the misfortune to contract a venereal disease, and about two years ago had a recurrence of this disease, which I am sure was just a repetition of the original infection that had never been really cured. Now this worries me too, as I am always wondering if it will some-time flare up again. I am not married, but I do hope that some day I shall be, and I would hesitate for a long time about marrying some nice girl who would be normal and healthy, unless I was positive that I could present her with just as clean a bill of health on my part. I would there-fore appreciate it, if you could tell me whether or not any of these germs are still in my body, and if so what I could do to forever rid myself of them, and the unseen dangers that constantly lurk in a body that although apparently healthy may be harboring germs that any day might cause a re-infection, not only to me, but as I already mentioned, if I were to marry might also infect another, which to me would be far worse than for me to contract it again. The infection referred to was Gonorrhea.
Please answer my question in my last letter [See Par. B4 above] about your other readings, as it might be possible for me to have one of them later, and if it is at all possible I would like at that time to call to see you in person. I have had some very perplexing and difficult problems to cope with in my business, during the past two months, and if you could aid me in solving them it would probably be worth a great deal to me. How-ever I have asked for a physical reading, as I feel that that is more important than any business problems, as I know in time I can solve them, especially if I am in good health; but the health problem I have had very little success in coping with.
I shall look forward to receiving a report of your findings concerning my condition, and I shall certainly be grateful to you the rest of my life if you are successful in finding the cause and recommending the cure of the same.
With kindest personal regards, I am.
Cordially yours, [1945]
P.S. I have had some trouble with my teeth and gums lately, which I believe I have found the cause of same, and they have greatly improved. However if it is not too much trouble I would appreciate your check up here too.
